The hotel is located well. The room is big but bathroom can use work. I thought the shower was unacceptably small and belongs in an RV. Does not fit the decor. The walls are thin and you can hear the neighbor clearly.

You might enjoy having the mini fridge directly beside your bed.... If you like sleeping to the lovely ringing noise?

When most of the west coast is battling forest fires and everyone is coming to Victoria for a break from the smoke it can be hard to find a hotel room.... This hotel was sufficient - but for $200/night I'd hope for a bit more. The room was very clean and well equipped with fridge, microwave and AC. Hotel staff were courteous but not in a way that blew me away. The location is fairly central - though in a part of Victoria that has become a bit rougher than I remember it. For $200/night we were in a room that barely had enough space for a queen bed, 2 bedside tables, and desk..... which meant that the fridge and microwave were RIGHT beside the bed. This might have been a non-issue... but the fridge was LOUD. So loud that we ended up unplugging it to sleep (so not sure why we had it in the first place?) Speaking of noise, this is an older building and we could hear EVERYTHING that was going on in most neighboring rooms. Not that the hotel can do much about that - just something to keep in mind if you are hoping for a quiet/private stay. The 'view' from the window was a concrete block. I get it.... Victoria tourism took a hit during the pandemic and is trying to recover. We also happened to be there during a VERY busy week. Next time, we might try camping.... we'd save some cash and have a bit more space!

The staff is top notch. The bar and restaurant are great. The location is fabulous. We travel all over the world,$350 per night comes with a certain standard, and this room falls short. (St. Ermain's, Visconti Palace, Fraser Suites). (See the pictures)There is no reason to have touch-up paint on the walls. If an espresso maker is advertised on the website, then there should be one. When house-keeping comes, they should VACUUM, as part of the daily service. For $350 per night, this room is sub-standard. Aside from those issues, Hotel Rialto is a nice place to stay in Victoria.

Small hotel but big on value. Things I love: Nice pillows and comforters Comfy bed Location Updated bathrooms (Somewhat) heated bathroom floors Customer service Nice set of complimentary toiletries Reasonable room rates What else could I ask for? Definitely would consider when in Victoria again.

The employee at the Rialto are friendly and accommodating, though they left out some important details that might have changed my mind about staying with them. I worked in hotel auditing for about 8 years and the stay that I had with them this week would have been enough for me to fail just about any one of the 1,000+ hotels I've stayed at. I had been driving from Calgary to Victoria for business and decided to stay at a place thats known for locally for being haunted on account of the previous morgue in the basement. I grew up on the island so it's been on the bucket list since they did their renovations. After getting off the last sailing of the ferry into Schwartz Bay I gave them a call. After some rapid keyboard typing on the other end they were able to accommodate the days I was going to be in town so I headed on in. It's a historic building with a great atmosphere, nestled right smack dab in the middle of a part of town that you'll run into drug addicts and the such after dark. The front desk staff were nice enough to suggest I park my car outside where they could see it, but I thought nothing of it at the time. Seemed like a nice gesture and I proceeded to my room. I decided to head to the drug store two blocks down to grab some odds and ends. It was about this time that I realized where I was. The wrong side of the tracks. I made a comment to the checkout cashier at the drug store that this was an "interesting neighbourhood" and she looked up and said "you just figured that out?". Back to the hotel for some sleep. This is where the fun begins. The front desk staff didn't think that it would be important to inform me that my room would be directly outside an ice machine that either hasn't been serviced since they opened or was intentionally purchased for the regular banging and crashing noises it makes in order to sooth the guests. I think I got about 2 hours of sleep that night. I considered leaving this part out, but the real gem of the renovations was the toilet placement. It's not possible for an adult human to use it without standing or sitting completely sideways on the thing. The spacing between the wall and radiator makes it completely non-functional for 50% of its usage potential. That being said I packed my stuff in the morning and checked out three days early. The staff didn't bother to ask if there were any issues with the room. As I gathered my belongings I discovered on the other nightstand a set of ear plugs and a note that read "feel like you've slept in the middle of nowhere, but still be in the middle of everything". I had to sit down for a moment and chuckle. I'm not sure if the Rialto staff get different training that other hotels I've audited, but I can honestly say that they have burned a customer who is a regular business visitor to Victoria by not being upfront with me. I am sure they have some very beautiful rooms here at the Rialto but be sure to ask if you'll be near an ice machine and if they have a toilet you can utilize fully. Otherwise rest easy knowing you'll have complimentary ear plugs.

Omg -- like seriously, this is the best bar in all of Victoria. If you disagree, fight me. The cocktails are a Smörgåsbord of craft cocktail concoctions. The bar tenders compete to feature their inspiring creations and I loveeee it. The servers are personable and amazing. Friendly to the point that you feel as though you belong. Thank you for making a 3rd annual New Years Eve fantastic! Rialto, you are doing it right. Please don't stop impressing me. Barb is fucking amazing -- Please produce more employees like her. What a soul; we love her.

On a weekend get-away, we decided to stay here to, um, get-away from the city, and for once get to know DT-Victoria for what it really is. And because of the great location, we did just that, and all of that on-foot. Room type: King with two-people soaker tub (for an extra $10). Interior: simple elegant; bathroom is surprisingly spacious with a soaker tub big enough even for 4 (?), plus a standing shower stall. Price: ~$190s per night during busy season, ~$120 during off season (2013). Bonus amenities: complementary breakfast coffee and pastry. Likelihood to return: 4/5, hinging on budget. Pros: location, intimacy, heritage building, mysophobia-clean, location. Cons: pay parking at private lot, pillows (too soft and too flat for side-sleepers).

This is a gem to stay at. The hotel staff are wonderful. Rooms are bright and airy. We love how close it is to everything downtown.

During Christmas week it was refreshing to have such rich hot cocoa in the lobby during the afternoons. The worst thing though was a very large powerful English mastiff which came out of their room near the elevators on the second floor and began barking ferociously. I will say however the location is excellent for walkability, exterior is gorgeous and the stunning colorful tulips in the spring are a highlight for anyone stopping by. Very slow/painful check in process, rooms were not ready over after supposed check in time, long wait times for breakfast at The Bengal etc. The ONLY silver lining in our experience was the wonderful hotel manager who saved the day and truly made sure we were well taken care of this second time around when things went wrong - if not for him, we would've written this hotel off completely. We do like the pool and hot tub, the Le Labo amenities and the Harbor View rooms are great for the view. Skip the Willow stream spa- the services were mediocre at best and the mineral pool was totally lukewarm; even the hot tub in the general pool area was better. Best part about the spa was the snack area with the yummy PB oat brownie bites and iced lavender + butterfly pea infused water! That said, it's definitely still a hotel with "old bones" despite the recent remodel and it shows when it gets very noisy with street traffic and buskers on the weekend, even at night. Sound insulation in the hallway is next to non-existent so you will inevitably hear the drunk Bachelorette party girls making their way down the corridor to their rooms late at night, and screaming kids in the daytime. Something to consider if noise is something that you care about during vacation. Other than historic charm and solid breakfasts at The Bengal, I'm not sure what else the hotel has going for it unless you spend a fortune on the Gold experience perhaps!

I wanted to gut-check our plan to take the ferry from Seattle, use Uber to get to their hotel (and could we please leave our luggage up front since we'd arrive before check in? - to which the answer was, "of course you can!"), and then use Uber all around town. The very pleasant woman I spoke with (those months before arriving) assured me that our plan should work splendidly, and they looked forward to having us. Upon arrival, we were greeted by two of the nicest front desk people, who took our luggage for storage, then found our room had indeed been cleaned as early as possible and was in fact ready for us for early check in immediately! The property itself is reminiscent of a period of taste and attention to detail that seldom exists any more. Our room was beautiful: spacious, with two separate bathroom sinks and a separate jetted tub and walk-in shower, plus a small sitting area and plenty of space! So nicely appointed with everything in its place, and everything working. The entire lobby and library/lounge area was also beautifully appointed, and so homey and inviting. And breakfast - included with the room - was elaborate and scrumptious. Each day features both sweet and savory options; for example, pancakes, or eggs and bacon. My wife and I got one of each and shared them. It was all delectable. And each day's menu, specially prepared and printed for that day, includes a weather forecast for the day - even with temperatures in both Celsius and Fahrenheit! We had such a wonderful stay that we hated to leave. We'd look forward to visiting Victoria again and would definitely choose Abigail's hotel again!!

The Library was a great quiet location, the room (Opal room) was comfortable, large, and provided greaat views out the many windows of the trees around the building. We particuly enjoyed breakfasts offered. Different each day, the quality was excellent as was fresh brewed coffee. Given the number of guests and limited dining room space for tables, the hotel requested us to pick a timeframe to dine so that the pace for table availabilty and meals were manageable. We chose 8:30A and we arrived each day with 10 minutes of that time. Worked great to get a table without feeling rushed or the food delayed in arriving! And each afternoon the chef put out a nice spread of meats/cheeses sometime, and homemade soup other times. All in all a great experience!

This was why we decided to return there again for the long weekend of 2024, on the 4th of July. Unfortunatly, this time was different. For a three-night stay, we invested nearly $1,400 for the room alone, without breakfast, parking, or any other expenses. We were expecting a 350-square-foot room with a water view, large windows, and a separate bedroom and sitting area. After we checked in, we found out that the room they had allocated to us, room 826 on the 8th floor, was not the room we had paid for. It was less than 150 sq ft, with tiny windows, no separate bedroom, and no separate sitting area. Naturally, I returned to the reception desk and demanded a better room. They responded that you had booked a room from Expedia, and we did not get what we were entitled to for the rental. Moreover, because you arrived after 7 p.m., we gave the room to another party. I explained the meaning and purpose of the reservation and showed them a printout from our booking with the room description. After over half an hour of struggle, they decided to honor what I had promised. However, they did not change our room until the next day. Overall, our stay at the Delta Hotel this time was not as pleasant as we hoped. I doubt we will be going back there again.

Despite having a Do Not Disturb sign clearly displayed, hotel staff entered my room without my consent, later explaining that it was a "wellness check" required when a room has not received housekeeping service for three consecutive days. However, no attempt was made to call my phone, leave a voicemail, or contact me in any way before entering. In an era where every guest provides a phone number at check-in, this should have been the first and most basic step. Entering a guest's room while Do Not Disturb is displayed is a serious violation of privacy. Additionally, I had requested and received towels directly the day before, and I had declined housekeeping at check-in, which contradicts the claim that my room had not been serviced for three days. To make matters more confusing, management later focused their response on the presence of my service dog, asking me to confirm if I was traveling with a dog. However, my dog was present with me at check-in, so it is unclear why this suddenly became a concern or why it was brought up after the unauthorized entry. What was most disappointing was the response from Danielle Powell, Director of Operations, who repeatedly justified the situation rather than offering a sincere apology for the intrusion. The tone of the communication felt confrontational rather than customer-focused. Overall, this hotel is a very poor representation of the Marriott brand. Privacy and respect are fundamental expectations when staying at a hotel -- especially when a Do Not Disturb sign is clearly displayed. Unfortunately, that basic expectation was not respected here.
