This is an unusually charming and historic building for LA.. best part is that it has character and all modern touches. The building has tons of ev charging and currently, it's included in rent. Huge benefit. They have doorman most of the day, maintenance and cleaners, beautiful entry that's always comfortable temperature. Aside from the staff and location - the views are insane. I have lived at the Elysian since 2021. From the moment I walked in the door it felt like home. You can't beat the amazing views, the beautiful concrete polished floors, high ceilings, automatic blinds, and clean modern design. This is a landmark building, quaint and cool combining NYC vibes with LA luxury. It's the most safe I've ever felt in an apartment building. The management is great -- they respond promptly to maintenance requests, and are communicative and diligent about bi-annual maintenance that keeps the building in great shape. The building manager, Kristina, is the best at what she does. Kind, friendly, fair - handles all Elysian business with care. The neighborhood is eclectic and fun, great restaurants, coffee shops, shopping - easy and convenient, so much to do. It's one of a kind. I have lived in the Elysian since 2019, and it's a wonderful place to call home. The building, which was gorgeous to begin with, is kept in pristine condition and well-updated. Management does a great job of making sure that public spaces are clean and well-maintained. All units have great details and fixtures, including excellent kitchen appliances and a washer/dryer (though the latter may vary by unit). The management is great -- they respond promptly to any maintenance requests I have had, and are communicative about any larger maintenance jobs that may impact tenants (bi-yearly vent cleaning, etc.). I also have an electric car, and there are ample working charging stations, with charging included in the cost of parking -- a huge money/time saver. There also tends to be street parking around and available, although that can vary by day based on street cleaning and a Dodgers home game. There is a gym onsite that is fine if you are looking for cardio and light weights (though if you have a more intense fitness regimen, you'll likely need to augment with a membership elsewhere). The equipment is maintained well and machines replaced as needed. They have historically required you to opt in or out of a monthly media package (which included internet but also cable and a landline), but as of next month, tenants should be allowed to purchase internet, cable, and phone a la carte or bundled. I've also never had any noise issues -- solid concrete floors certainly help on that front. Be aware there may be construction starting on the older building adjacent to the Elysian, though that has been going through approvals process for a while so may still be a while before that impacts tenants. Overall, it's an incredible building, with incredible architecture, views, and location. I strongly recommend considering for anyone looking in the Echo Park neighborhood. read more

I can't say enough good things about this place, it's the architectural hidden gem of Echo Park. The apartments are spacious, full of natural light, with towering floor to ceiling windows that lift your spirts every morning. Insanely beautiful polished concrete floors and pure white interiors, give you a true blank canvas to set your prize possessions in. Wrap around balcony invites a gorgeous view of downtown on one side and big bear on the other. The sunrises are amazing. This is true luxury at a reasonable price per month. Kristina, the property manager, is super friendly and always on call to help. She runs a tight ship along with her staff who keep the property sparklingly clean at all times. The security staff at night are equally friendly and vigilant, giving you peace of mind in the evenings. I love living here and wouldn't trade this apartment for any other in the city. The atmosphere is friendly, and the building is peaceful. Management is efficient and quick to respond to maintenance requests. There are so many things I appreciate about our unit: the high-quality Italian stove and microwave, the washer and dryer, the sizable walk-in closet, the abundance of natural light, the amazing view, and the parking lot full of EV chargers. I also just enjoy the building's design. William Pereira designed this building in 1961, and his vision is evident in The Elysian's clean and striking aesthetic. The sturdy steel and concrete structure, along with the 12-foot-high ceilings and large windows, create a a spacious and airy feel. I have lived here for 4 years now and I love it. Wonderful floor plans in the apartments with beautiful floor-to-ceiling windows. They did an excellent job of maximizing the amount of usable space and including a lot of storage, including a very well-sized walk in closet. Units are very quiet and I never hear neighbors . Really nice appliances that I've had minimal issues with over the years. The management is incredibly responsive and fixes things quickly. They run a very tight ship. Parking in the outdoor lots is a little bit far from the building which is annoying when carrying groceries. There are also trees in the lot that drop sap which can be an issue. Overall though I've found it's easy enough to find a sapless spot every day. Garage parking is an option as well. There is also unlimited EV charging included in the parking fee which is an incredible add-on. I would definitely recommend living here. read more

This is a wonderful place to live. Having just relocated from NYC in 2020, my intension was to live here for 1 year as a looked for a place to settle into. I have now lived at the Elysian for over 4 years . Through life's moves, Ive learned just how valuable it is to have a management team with integrity. The building is always clean, the staff is friendly, management is responsive and has gone out of their way multiple times, maintenance is done timely ,and the building is very pet friendly. There are private parking lots for the building with an ample number of charging stations for residents' cars. In addition, The Elysian has architectural history and soul. Its beautiful with floor to ceiling windows, high ceilings, outdoor spaces both private and shared, great layouts that act as a blank canvas and can morph to many styles and interests, and large closets, which is rare. Living here, I am walking distance to many things including an organic market, pharmacy, coffee shops, restaurants, hiking... Because of the above reasons and the interesting tenants that the building attracts, Its a comfortable, respectful, and inspiring place to call home. Really recommend The Elysian read more

My 1 year at the Elysian was an amazing experience . Besides being beautiful the place was so well taken care of . Clean , always able to get maintenance done in a timely fashion. The amenities in the apartment were top notch. When you enter there was always a fresh scent I've wanted to take with me . I love the packages are secure in a closet or the Amazon hub. The friends I made there I still see. There are outside areas designated for your pets and areas that they can't go which makes it great. The bbq's were always clean and I used them a lot. Noise levels never seemed bad and the design is some of the best. While I was there Kristina was the manager and she was exceptional at boundaries and rules and a no nonsense sensibility equal to all that was implemented . She runs a tight ship with the knowledge of understanding the architectural gem she is shepherding. Not an easy task with so many personalities I am sure. read more

I cannot believe someone with this poor of an attitude is representing a nice property like this. It's unfortunate, as I was interested in applying here. My lease at The Elysian ended about a month ago and I moved away because I wanted to live closer to my business and school. However, if I could have picked up the entire building and moved it with me, I would have! I cannot say enough good things about the Elysian! All the way through, from the architecture to the staff - A+!!! My apartment was absolutely stunning with a gorgeous view of downtown LA to match the pristine interior. The halls and surrounding grounds are always kept clean and well groomed. Extremely reasonably priced, I still can't find anything even comparable to the quality of my unit for the price in LA. Irina was always extremely nice, helpful and promptly solved any issue I brought. Which I will say, there were very few things to complain about. My gate clicker battery died at one point and she had me a new one within 24 hours. Again, five-stars for my experience here! I can definitely see myself returning at some point if my life is happening more on that side of town, right now I just have too many things going on else where so it doesn't make sense. well, the william pereira building is nearly done being converted to skyrockety market rate apartments of various dimensions ranging from 500 square feet, to around 2000 sq. ft. it will appeal to the young moneyed who frequent downtown & now near-east-l.a., including echo park, to our dismay. vast expanses of polished concrete floors greet you in the minimalist lobby, after you've crossed the little bridge over plashing fountains that might take you back to true turn-of-the-'70s architecture, like the oldest building at LACMA, which was also designed by pereira. the outside of the refurbished building cannot be faulted, & there is a delightful parklette common area that faces northwest, and includes a rock fire pit [the kid who took me on the tour did not know if the fire pit was supervised during santa ana wind season, because he's two months out of ohio, and does not know what santa ana winds are.] grassy patches & couches around the fireplace, and another seating area around low-slung fountains that are pure pereira. lacma used to be surrounded by just such fountains & pools. excellent mask for traffic noise. i saw a 'penthouse', $4900, two storey, west facing. all of the apartments i saw can be described as 'loft-like', a pet term of real estate agents now. all have polished cement floors, which in a great expanse, can seem fit for a playground or prison yard. i guess since winter in los angeles only last for a week or so now, the coldness of cement is a plus. beware east/southeast facing apartments, they will bake in summer like a hothouse. wall-size windows appeared to have no covering offered - & might be a challenge to drape. additionally, former korean church that occupied the property that literally butts up against the east side of the pereira building is for sale. i.e. you will have no idea of the size of building projects to come, or indeed if your lovely, expensive views will be blocked entirely. it is something to consider... pets allowed: $500 deposit. water paid, not electric. more expensive units come with bosch washer/dryers. others have hook-up plugs. italian stove and microwave, with bosch refrigerators. shelving in closets is surprisingly cheapo looking, like a dorm room. more $$ units have glass showers, as opposed to the manky shower curtained bath in the one-bedroom unit @ $2650. parking is offered at $100 /mo at an outdoor adjacent lot. read more

My wife and I spent a wonderful 14 months as tenants of the Elysian. The facility is gorgeous. Great design and nice finishes. I really wanted to buy our unit as a condo. They offer free electricity and discounted parking for plug-in vehicles. These incentives plus my 110 Fastrak commute encouraged me to buy a Chevy Volt. I love my Volt and owe buying it to the developers and their enthusiasm for Electric Vehicles. Units: Almost all units have balconies with panoramic downtown or Hollywood Hills views. The balconies are the full width of the unit and deep enough for plants, chairs and anything else you would like to enjoy outdoors. The kitchens are modern with a Bosch dishwasher and refrigerator and an Italian stove. The stove looked great, but is Italian, I will leave it at that. There are washer and dryer hookups with a dryer VENT, a rarity downtown. The stove and dryer are gas. The floors are polished concrete and are fantastic. Pets are welcome on some floors. We lived on a pet friendly floor and almost all our neighbors had dogs, including us. The walls and floors are concrete, so barking dogs are barely an issue. You can hear them in the hallway, but inside your unit is very quiet. The best part of the Elysian had to be, Irina, the property manager. If there was ever an issue with noise, maintenance, anything, she was immediately on it and made sure the issue was resolved. Condo HOAs wish they had someone like her running them. As with all housing, there were pros and cons, despite the five star review.
