A very nice pub with delicious locally sourced food. It would have 5*, but it's just slightly too expensive.

The place is located near the Madingley Hall, a beautiful country location of Cambridge University. The food was absolutely delicious. The menu is focused on Italian european but also has some British dishes. Loved the coffee. Drinks and spirits looked good but didn't go for it. The staff was polite and friendly. Called them up last minute to reserve a table to which they happily obliged.

The food is innovative, interesting and always beautifully presented: having spent a lot of time in Italy, I am often dissappointed with the Italian food in England, but The Three Horseshoes always hits the right note. The seasonally changing menu is always a delight, but I particularly like their use of autumn veg, particularly butternut squash. Whatever buffalo mozzarella they use deserves a special place in heaven, and my boyfriend always manages to find room for their delicately seasoned lemon tart. Well worth a visit - if you're a student, this is definitely one to persuade your parents to take you to.

What can I say about the King's Arms? I'm at home here. When we moved to the UK, honestly our most…read moredesired feature was walking distance to a pub. We got stumbling distance to one of the best pubs in the country. This place is well-regarded by everyone in the region. I've met people here who give up walking distance to their local to drive here and have a good time. That says something. My first night here I made friends, and each time I've been here since I find myself in good company either with neighbors we've met before, or people who know we're new to the area and want to welcome us. I can't begin to tell you how often a quick pint before dinner turns into a long session at King's Arms. I wouldn't have it any other way. These guys truly embrace the concept of being the center of village activity. No TVs, no WiFi, these things distract from the community. You come here to interact with your friends and neighbors, enjoy a good beer, and enjoy living in the company of others. They regularly have events to bring the village out. The most impressive of which was the dinner they hosted on the night of the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic. They served the exact 10-course menu served in first class that evening, and requested everyone bust out their tuxedos and dresses to mark the occasion in grand fashion. It was a remarkable evening. One disappointment, since I have to list one to feel as though I am being fair, is the wine list. We love the temperanillo, but really none of the others. But we're not here to drink wine, we're here to be social! It makes me a little sad that we don't have this type of drinking culture in the US. If you're not an alcoholic, you're not likely be on a first-name basis with the bartenders at a local watering hole. That's why I love walking in here; everyone knows everyone else, they're always happy to see you, they know what you drink, they pour a tasty pint, and are genuinely good people. I dig it.

Unlike many renovated places, No 77 hasn't gone for a sterile "clean-cut" look full of formal dining tables, but has a cool, comfortable atmosphere with both eating areas and a more informal drinking area. As for the food, this is one of the nicest placest I have eaten for a while! The Thai Green and Thai red curries are out of this world. As far as I can tell, everything is prepared in-house with lovely, fresh ingredients. The restaurant has even been selected for the 2015 Michelin Guide! A take-away option is also available, but you have to collect yourself (I would recommend eating in the pub though, as it's such a unique little place!) The drinks selection is excellent, with a range of unusual beers and a cocktail selection. Price wise, the food is pretty good value; cheaper than most pubs in Cambridge and certainly worth the money. Drink prices are not the cheapest (£2.50 - £3 for a soft drink, £5 ish for a small glass of wine, £4 ish for a pint... although there are some cheaper "guest ale" options for a very reasonable £3.20). If you are used to Cambridge drinking prices, this won't seem too bad. As a little extra, every Sunday is a "cinema night", with a large projector screen and upcycled old cinema chairs. There is an afternoon film for the kiddies, and an evening film for the grown-ups. What better way to spend a Sunday evening!? All in all, I would definitely recommend a visit to No 77 - you won't be disappointed.

I chose the 7oz topside of beef with side salad and macaroni cheese, my wife had the sea food linguine, the beef was cooked to order (rare) but cold, it was so tough it was inedible, the manager came over and asked how it was, when i explained she said they was experimenting with the cut of meat they could get away with for the price they were charging £18 !, i declined another choice of meal as the service was really quite slow, my wife's linguine was not great, the white wine source had no punch and the seafood was over cooked and tough. When i paid, the waitress apologised for the meal and hoped it wouldn't stop us coming back, which it will and will not be recommending it, again the manager heard my grievance but made no effort to adjust the bill,£54, we will not be spending that again, a total disappointment and very upsetting for my wife's birthday.

Ambience was lovely and really different furniture, fixtures and fittings made it a really unique place to be. Service was good too. The biggest down side was that there are too many mirrors (extra large ones too) on most of the walls which is very off-putting ..
