Great ambiance. Warn wood floors subway steel countered bar with subway tiles underneath. Generous windows and comfortable seating. Full of families and friends. The taps have a nice assortment of local brew. Great menu with gastropub offerings. Highly recommended as a casual spot for a pint and a relaxed gourmet nibble.

I was in London for work and vacation staying in an Airbnb just across the stress from this spot in Maida Vale. I just wandered in for a drink while waiting for my host and was very intrigued by the menu. The next day I went in for brunch. First of all, the coffee was delicious. I had an iced latte and it was so tasty. The first day I went in I had an avocado toast which had a very generous amount of avocado and feta. Also, the presentation was beautiful. I went back in my second day there and had the fried onion and meat sandwich. Wow. It was delicious and I ate the entire thing. It was really thinly sliced onions flash fried and marinated meat with a sweet BBQ flavor. I couldn't get enough! The atmosphere is delightful as well - very bright and airy with a cute, rustic decor. My only reason for not giving this place 5 stars was the service. I used to live in London so I understand service at restaurants isn't quite what it is in the states but this place was way too laid back. We had to flag down the waitress any time we needed something and twice we had to actually go to the bar to ask for the check. One of the days I had to get up and get menus for us and we had to go up to the bar and order while the waitress was talking to someone in the corner. She even walked by us several times to help others that had come in after us. When we did have to go to the bar there were no apologies for not getting to us sooner!

The Elgin is what is what I would describe quite a plush pub, combined with a restaurant upstairs. In the heart of Maida Vale (quickly giving Notting Hill a run for it's money as a more exclusive location), the Elgin has a selction of committed guests, local and otherwise. The pub serves bar snacks, lunch and breakfast. Upstairs is the way to go if you require something heavier in terms of dinner. The staff are helpful, friendly and polite, which is something new (to be astounded by in this day and age....). The Elgin provides a friendly atmospehere. In the evenings, the music can be blasted at a volume that's a little too loud if you just want to have a natter and a drink with a close friend. Despite this, it's still one of my recommended venues.

Brunch was wonderful here. I had the scrambled eggs with smoked salmon and cream cheese. Like all great food it starts with ingredients: amazing bread, fresh eggs (eggs just seem to be better in Europe) and really good smoked salmon. The latte. Was made with care the fresh oj was refreshing

Nice bar restaurant next to Maida Vale tube. Went on Sat night, loud music though we were a big group. Had a small plate and a main, probably better going for multiple small plates. The prawns were nice, but the description of chilli, garlic and lime didn't nearly have enough (any) chilli. The main of chorizo hash seemed about the same size as the small plate and was a bit disappointing. Very good selection of beers (mainly Camden Brewery on tap), good bottle selection too. Wines weren't bad either. Maybe a bit loud for a romantic dinner for two, but a good place to drink and nibble.

Brunch here is superb - really chilled out atmosphere in artsy decor, with lots of freelancers quietly working away. On top of that, great selection of beers, just slightly expensive. Go upstairs to feel like you're in the London Loft you'll never be able to afford

This was my local hang out while I was in Maida Vale. I preferred the food here over a more upscale pub not that far away. Beer good and the food is even better. It does get packed so find a table as soon as you can.

Just went for coffee and a croissant, but it was a nice place. They are buggy friendly and have high chairs available.

Decent place for a quality beer. There are also all kinds of drinks available but I'm an ale person and that's what I like about the place.

We specifically came to try fish and chips, so we were lucky that The Mall Tavern was nearby. Each of us ordered fish and chips, and all of our plates were left nearly empty. My goodness, I have never had better fish and chips than here at The Mall Tavern. The fish was crispy, and the chips were perfectly salted to taste. I appreciate that chips in England are more like potato wedges than classic American french fries. Way less fried and way less salty, so you can enjoy the actual taste of the potatoes! I also ordered a side of Mac and cheese that we all shared. I don't know what kind of cheese(s) was used, but it was the perfect starter to our meal. For dessert, we had the sticky toffee pudding for the first time. It was hard not to order another one!! We came in for late lunch, so the restaurant was empty. I assume they are much busier at lunch and dinner time. I also enjoyed the selection of beer while we waited for our food to come out. Next time I'm in London, I'm returning here immediately.

This restaurant was absolutely amazing from start to finish. I ordered the beef roast, and we also shared a side of the creamy cauliflower, which was to die for. I truly cannot sing the praises of this restaurant enough. The service was personable and welcoming, making it easy and comfortable to ask questions and try new things. One of the managers (apologies I don't know her name) checked in on us several times and even encouraged a few of us to try additional menu items. The food came out quickly, and once it arrived, the table went completely silent because we were all too busy enjoying every bite. I highly, highly recommend this spot to anyone visiting London and even the locals. A solid 10/10 experience!

One eventually came to our table after sitting awhile. I of course had to try the fish n chips. A couple of veggie burgers were ordered and a regular burger. Surprisingly happy hour was still on at 8 o'clock so drinks were ordered. The food all came at the same time and everything was cool. The fish had a nice flavor from the fried batter. To me it was similar to Long John Silvers as far as the batter is concerned, but slightly better quality overall. The fries were standard. The only thing horrible was the very bland mashed green peas. They should be omitted from every pub across the country, but I think it is a traditional item included with the fish. The cocktails were good as well as the price. The sticky toffee pudding was something else I was advised to try while in London. I must admit it was really delicious. It came with a scoop of ginger ice cream and a warm buttery toffee sauce to pour over. It was delightfully warm and sweet and paired well with the ice cream. The cake itself was moist enough on its own with notes of brown sugar and molasses. I could have had seconds and thirds of this desert. Yum! The majority of my party didn't think the food was fantastic. The burgers happened to be somewhat alright. This was a first for me having pub food and I would have more again as long as I stick to the basics.
