Sorry, this is going to be long, but worth it!…read more I had no idea what I wanted in a wedding, except that I wanted a beautiful garden ceremony. We began with a tour from Tammy with Sugar City and I knew Texas Discovery Gardens was the place! Sugar City set up the venue, provided flowers, decor, and cake for our 10/23/15 wedding. I had NO idea where to start, but Carron is an amazing event designer! I didn't have a clue on style, colors, decor, or anything. She asked questions to help determine what style I liked. I told her I wanted the cake to be a surprise, so let's start with that. The Cake - I highly encourage you to look on Facebook for the next Sugar City open house. You MUST try the cake. I tried Carron's cake after going to several other tastings. My search was over! The cake is moist (sorry for using that word), dense (in a good way), and the icing was amazing! Her flavors are out of this world! We chose champagne and creme brulee, but you honestly can't go wrong. I already knew it was going to taste great, but I was so surprised when I saw it! Beau-ti-ful!!! She even incorporated elements of our wedding invitations! It was absolutely stunning and our guests raved about how great it tasted! All of my future celebrations will have cakes from Sugar City! Flowers - I showed Carron some pictures from Pinterest that appealed to me, but was again surprised when her creations far surpassed what I had in mind! The bouquets were larger than I expected, with a mix of gorgeous flowers and greenery. Seriously like something out of a magazine! Decor - The colors and style of the tablecloths/napkins/centerpieces tied in flawlessly with the flowers, cake, and bridesmaid dresses. Unfortunately, there was a monsoon on our wedding day, but the Sugar City team did an amazing job of setting up inside for the ceremony. They also quickly flipped the room for the reception while the guests toured the butterfly house! It turned out perfect! This included setup of cake/gift/favor/DJ/caterer tables as well as takedown and cleanup. The day was crazy and I didn't get to speak to Sonja much, but she also did a great job in making sure everything ran smoothly. I can't thank Sugar City enough for a perfect day! They truly exceeded all expectations. Carron is so genuine and passionate about what she does. A true professional! You cannot go wrong with Sugar City!

My husband stumbled onto the Grand Hall of TDG by accident one afternoon when we were looking for venues. Not only is the staff professional, but you have the beauty of a garden wedding indoors AND for a reasonable price. The cost of facility rental, catering, cake, flowers, and real dishes came to a little over $6,100. In Dallas, a beautiful wedding at that price is hard to beat. Please keep in mind that we did not add on all the bells and whistles. We wanted a simple, Sunday afternoon wedding and you do have to contribute your own extras to the wedding if you want something truly unique to your style but, generally speaking, if I had to do it all over again, I would again and again. Please check out the Sugar City sweets & celebrations Facebook page--Carron and Tammy post pictures of their most recent events there more frequently than on the main website listed with the business information. Sugar City hosts two Open Houses annually, around February and August, in lieu of individual food and cake tastings. Be sure to let Carron know if you're interested in attending. The red velvet and white chocolate raspberry flavors that we selected were a HUGE hit--guests were coming up to me during the ceremony demanding to know where they came from.

Not closed- I attended an event here today. April 2,2022…read more The building was cute and had updated amenities. We did not have access to the whole building but what we saw it was a cute venue. There is nice parking, small musical play ground and a large field on the property

I really love the simplicity and bit of history that the school house offers Bedford!…read more The OBSH sits nestled behind a large open field off of old Bedford Road. The field is home to Twilight Thursdays, Bedford's own little spring concert series, and to the huge Bedford Christmas tree. More informally its my girls and I's secret spot for exploring and Ice Cream on Friday afternoon's when my 3 year old gets out of preschool. I love that they can run, collect rocks and lady bugs, climb large rocks, and dig in the dirt road (Don't worry! We always put it back!) and be safely away from traffic off of the road. I can sit on a picnic blanket and watch and not have to worry about my kids falling off of a some large plastic playground, or getting run over by a car! My only suggestion, especially for twilight Thursdays, is that those fire ant hills are crazy! I got bit several times last season.. yikes! The school house itself is classic, and is like a last piece of country history in a city that becomes more suburban and built up every day. You can see pictures from the its glory days, look at a traditional one room school house set up, attend a murder mystery dinner, or rent one of their different rooms for meetings, or the entire building for a wedding. The last time my girls and I were there, my little one had to go to the bathroom and there was a wedding set-up going on, so we were able to sneak in (with permission!) and use the restroom. The set up was adorable...a PERFECT wedding venue. If I had known this place was available back in the day when I was married, I totally would have chosen it! The wooden stair case and old beams and windows make for great photo ops! I have also attended a 50th birthday celebration here a few years back! There was plenty room for a buffet, a bar, tons of guests and a live band.. totally fun! Last year we went to the school house to take some christmas pictures, and ending up choosing one with the school house in the background for our card! We also took some family photos here last weekend... out back they have bluebonnets, and some great stairs for backdrops. ....I am kind of sad I am writing this review, because now everyone will know my secret hiding spot in HEB for pictures, parties and play! :)
