In this case, we seem to have had a better experience than most. We made a last minute booking at 7pm for 8pm and we got in a bit early. The server was terrific. Super helpful about what was fresh and available. They had as a special local oysters with a lovely white wine from France. It was a great flavor combo with a nice mild and rich flavor in the oysters.
The core is spectacular. Coles Bay has a nice view of the setting sun and on this summer day the temperature was moderate and the breeze was lovely.
We tried the diary free options and they did a terrific job on the lamb rump. The seafood fettuccine was also very good with a nice variety of mussels, clams and other goodies. Finally they had the in season blue eyed trevally which was. I rly grilled. Overall they really let the ingredients shine through.
Finally they did a great job with kids. The grilled fish with chips was well prepared and they included nice vegetables with it. And the crepe brûlée was was delicious. Nicely flamed and great custard.
We also had a wonderful Tasmanian sparkling wine, a Josef Cromy, which was terrific.
