We wanted to try this place for a few weeks now and finally came here today for an early dinner. It was Sunday at 4:30pm, we were the first customers here. Staff were super welcoming, and we sat down at the bar, country music playing, great vibe! We had hoped for the whole deep fried snapper but sadly it was out. We took their advice and ordered the fresh mullet bites for appetizer, which was awesomely fresh! For entree I chose the grouper sandwich and hubby ordered the rib eye which he was not too thrilled with. My sandwich was great, huge piece of deep fried fish served with french fries and hush puppies, probably the best hush puppies I ever had. By the time we left, the bar area was filled up along with few tables in the main dining room. We will definitely be back again. After all, I need to try that whole friend grouper! read more

Driving down Pine Island Road, you may just miss this amazing gem...DON'T MiSS IT!! Definitely park your car and get ready for amazing service and food. i had the ropa vieja which was up to par with my own grandmothers cooking. It was perfect!! The meat was so tender, it was the perfect balance of tomato sauce and seasonings...which most restaurants fail to do. My husband had the Grouper platter and the fish was super fresh and delicious. We both had the sweet plantains, black beans and rice...which were amazing too. The whole restaurant and its staff were very welcoming. Alice, our server, made us feel right at home and treated us like we were regulars even though this was our first time at Eagles Nest. It's a casual restaurant and you have the option to eat indoors which has a very colorful bar and cute tables or outdoors under their tiki covered outdoor area that has picnic tables and a stage. Went here yesterday to try their burgers, I had the Parm Mushroom burger, it was delicious. One of those burgers where you need to dislocate your jaw to get your face around it. Ask for extra napkins too, you'll need them. My wife had a bread bowl filled with smoked brisket in juices, she said it was awesome. We live just off the island, but we'll be back, I want to try their pizza. I saw several picked up while I was there, so somebody likes them. read more

Food is good it's a roadhouse so be prepared for the ambiance or lack there of but food and service is great.

The food here is absolutely amazing! I got the Ropa Vieja and it was phenomenal, I could eat a bucket of their plantains. If you are in the area you need to stop here. The Cuban sandwich, ropa vieja and brisket tacos are our favorites but you can't go wrong with anything on the menu! Very cool spot in Bokeelia on Pine Island. The owner Yovani is continuously working and making this place an island favorite. The beautiful murals, the newly constructed tiki bar all add to the awesome ambiance of this local spot. Some great food is always added to the menu and they always have some kind of entertainment throughout the week. Definitely give this place a shot. read more

We weren't sure what to expect when we pulled in and entered this place. We were the only ones in a restaurant around 1PM. Hmmmm. We were told by the lone waitress that they were only serving appetizers and sandwiches for lunch. I opted for the Cuban sandwich, while my dining partner ordered the beef brisket sandwich. My Cuban was loaded with sweet ham, tender pork, Swiss cheese, pickle and was pressed like a Panini. The fries were fresh and hot and reminiscent of McDonalds (when you actually get them hot and fresh). My partner said his brisket sandwich, fries and coleslaw were also delicious. We both brought half of our sandwiches home because they were huge. As we were near finishing, the owner (Millie) came to our table to ask how our food was. We found out that after Ian hit that they collaborated to give out free meals to anyone in need that couldn't get off the island. Luckily, they had generator power so hundreds could eat as well as cool off in the air conditioning. I love going to family owned restaurants, and if you do, I would highly recommend taking an afternoon or evening visit to check this place out! read more

Breakfast food is five stars but this newer restaurant has some work to do. As Having tried it a second time after our first breakfast was eaten at a dirty table, it took us 1 hour and forty five minutes to make it through our experience. Again, food was delicious but the owner seemed to have gone 'missing' unexpectedly during service with only one server on staff. It was a comedy of errors. Thankfully, we were on island time. Breakfast menu is very limited. The Cuban toast is like nothing I have tasted and the breakfast tacos were delicious. I hope this new restaurant can figure out service and food consistency (both times the breakfast tacos which are to be made with bacon actually had sausage instead) as their location is excellent, the owner seems lovely and the food was great. read more

I've been here a few times to eat before & it's usually good. We went tonight & ordered the brisket tacos & the grouper platter. It was good, the service was good. But when I got the check they charged $0.50 for tartar sauce with a fish dinner that was already $28! I'm glad I didn't ask for ketchup also! I know it's hard to run a restaraunt, but cmon people! Wonderful service and food. The Cuban food on the buffet is phenomenal and a great value. The pizza is reallllllly good too. This business helped so many others after the Hurricane and many of the staff members are still hurting.... I love being able to support them while having such good food. Since our last review, the restaurant has faltered in a few items: inconsistent hours and high staff turnover. Example: 'game day' specials-- after four visits, it was clear that management is challenged by their sports viewing--no tvs are tuned to the popular football and other games. Staff does not take time to have the sports on and thus folks move on. One of the managers is often there but oblivious to the actual events they have advertised. The initial excitement of the eatery has dimmed and we are regretful on their behalf. A new restaurant is not a hobby and folks accepting work opportunities are not able to make a living wage in our view. It's on a downward spiral sadly. Today at lunch, 4 cars. Next door at Street Eatz, it's a full house and they don't even have full bar. They need to seriously consider hiring a professional full time manager who might be able to turn this around. Please. I can't believe I've been coming to Bokeelia for years and only recently discovered this favorite locals spot. We dined on Mother's Day, and the draw was no wait, open late, and a complimentary glass of wine for moms (woohoo!). Upon entering, it doesn't look like much. We asked to be seated near the musician, and the big dining area feels like you're in a basement. But that didn't deter us! Our server was so friendly and knowledgeable, and recommended the Cuban sandwich to my friend, which was agreeably one of the best Cuban sandwiches we've tasted. We also split the fajitas, which were plentiful, served with the freshest toppings, all of which tasted homemade. The drinks were cheap, and the vibe was cozy. Menu change, ownership change? Not sure. Quality not as good as it was when first opened. Cuban chicken soup charged $15 for a small bowl. Steaks, not quality as once was but cost is more. Was a fan at the beginning but not any more. For price points charged, quality of wine and liquor should be better choices. Live on Island and definitely will go off Island for a better quality meal for the price, highly disappointed! 12 oz or 18 oz options only for steaks, really? Always seems short staffed.
