Service wasn't the worst but I would have rather gotten food from a gas station down the road then stop here and get anything.

Surprising find for a small town in Nebraska. My hotel was just around the corner and after a long…read moreday, I did not want to have to go far. The interior of the restaurant is something you might expect to find in Lincoln or Omaha, not in a strip mall in Hasting. The hostess greeted me pleasantly and sat me promptly. I ordered a side salad and double bacon burger with Brussel sprouts on the side. The salad came out quickly. It was basic garden salad and the blue cheese was good. Shortly after I finished the salad, my burger arrived. It can be disappointing when the meal arrives before you finish your salad or you have to wait forever before your meal after finishing the salad. They were not busy, so I was happy to see they were not rushing and sending the burger out right away. The burger was huge. Two seven once patties with bacon and covered in melted cheese. They use a shredded cheddar, pile it high, and let it melt all over the burger. You can tell from first bite they are not using frozen patties, fresh ground beef here. The only change I would have made, it the burger was cooked medium and l prefer medium rare. The flavor was great. The burger is a little pricy at $21, but for a double burger coming in just under a pound the price is not outrageous. The single was $15, so I guess the pricing is not super high. The waitress was attentive, without being over bearing. She kept my glass filled without me having to ask. After seeing the dessert menu, I wish I would have gone with the single burger instead of the double. In the end I passed on dessert, but if I ever return I will keep that in mind.

Was apparently 6 months since we last here. Burger variants today. Rare prep both. Santa Fe for me…read more Fries also. All other customers' foods look amazing good. Our choices were very good and worth further research here.

Hashtag worth it. It's no frills, no fuss decor, and kind of feels like you're in someone's basement. Staff was limited, but there were only a couple other tables, so we feel like we got good service even when she forgot one of our sides. No matter! We were under this historic establishment's spell. Two Nebraskan draft beers, the Rutgers game on TV, a blasting radiator--we were living the Cornhusker dream! The burgers are amazing! The two of us shared a double cheeseburger that was insanely good, and like the place itself, it excelled by keeping it simple and delicious. We loved the crinkle fries, and the Glurs fries were really good once you put the Lawry seasoning salt on the them. We also got a side of their fried cauliflower that was good for getting some veggies in (we say facetiously). Our daughter was content with her cheeseburger, and the bill was so reasonable that we almost felt guilty. Is this place "perfect"? Hardly. But it's such a pleasant little slice of Americana and we were beyond happy we went. Even bought a T-shirt to prove it. 4.5 stars, rounding up because we're feeling patriotically cute.

The waitress was friendly and prompt to come and get our drink order and to get it brought to us. Then our order was not long after that. A table of 4 and we received our appetizer quick enough and had time ro enjoy it before our order came. We all made sure to get something different so as to try as much of the menu we could. Burger, fries, cauliflower, chicken fried steak sandwich, pork tenderloin sandwich, onion rings, glue fries, drinks and im sure im missing something. Everyone left feeling very satisfied, and loving our choices and what we ate. The place is smaller and I can see once its a packed house it is probably noisy but its to be expected. After all it is a tavern. I will be recommending the place as much as I can and will visit again when I am in town.
