Went back a second time, still excellent. Had the Blue Fork burger, which has bacon and blue cheese. Very good. Two minor complaints. The waitress asked if i wanted ranch dressing, for dipping the fries I suppose. Found out when the bill came that it was $1 extra. And something I remember from last visit, when the maitr-di led me to my table she said "you can follow me". Considering the (muted) elegance of the restaurant it would have been nicer to say something like "please follow me". Anyway, it was a good meal, worth the trip from anywhere. read more

Surprising find for a small town in Nebraska. My hotel was just around the corner and after a long day, I did not want to have to go far. The interior of the restaurant is something you might expect to find in Lincoln or Omaha, not in a strip mall in Hasting. The hostess greeted me pleasantly and sat me promptly. I ordered a side salad and double bacon burger with Brussel sprouts on the side. The salad came out quickly. It was basic garden salad and the blue cheese was good. Shortly after I finished the salad, my burger arrived. It can be disappointing when the meal arrives before you finish your salad or you have to wait forever before your meal after finishing the salad. They were not busy, so I was happy to see they were not rushing and sending the burger out right away. The burger was huge. Two seven once patties with bacon and covered in melted cheese. They use a shredded cheddar, pile it high, and let it melt all over the burger. You can tell from first bite they are not using frozen patties, fresh ground beef here. The only change I would have made, it the burger was cooked medium and l prefer medium rare. The flavor was great. The burger is a little pricy at $21, but for a double burger coming in just under a pound the price is not outrageous. The single was $15, so I guess the pricing is not super high. The waitress was attentive, without being over bearing. She kept my glass filled without me having to ask. After seeing the dessert menu, I wish I would have gone with the single burger instead of the double. In the end I passed on dessert, but if I ever return I will keep that in mind. read more

Great steaks and drink menu! We were in town for HHD and decided to give Blue Fork and try.

Food wasn't great. Lukewarm. Not tasty. But place was clean at least. Bathroom was clean.

Had their special...bison steak. Was not informed that it was only served medium rare. When it arrived, it was all like warm but it looked decent and then I cut into it. It was RARE...not medium rare. I asked the waitress to take it back and cook it more. They have an open kitchen...and when she told the chef he got angry and threw the plate up on the countertop for one of the line cooks to take. When the steak arrived back, it was just partially cooked above rare...the parts that were edible, did have good flavor. However the rice like side was completely undercooked and chewy. Not to mention that the price of this tiny meal was $32.... Cold food. Undercooked food. Unprofessional chef. The waitresses were very nice and polite though. read more

Wow! There is something for everyone here! Service was fantastic. All the good is made from scratch, and it's very fresh. My husband had a bowl of chili and a bison burger. I had the new-to-the-menu poke bowl (I was reluctant because this is Nebraska), and we were quite happy with our choices. One thing we skipped but sounded amazing was the freshly made cookie skillet. We also heard about boozy ice cream treats, but we were quite full. The space is huge and can accommodate large groups easily. It would be awesome for a drag brunch if there are any local queens! If we lived here, we would be very frequent customers. **UPDATE** We couldn't leave Hastings without having another meal here, so we did takeout salads. They did not disappoint. Mine had snap peas and I added grilled salmon. My husband had the southwest chicken. We're glad we had a second meal here! read more

I'm extremely disappointed in this restaurant. I go there with a couple people to catch up and the food is good, but my whole viewpoint on the restaurant changed after my visit. The the bill was just under 60$ and I handed her a 20% tip in cash as I prefer to instead of leaving it on my card. Look at my account and it turns out she added 20% tip to my card on top of that herself. Called the manager and she confirmed there was no tip left on the card and refunded that back to me. Point is who knows how many people the waitress has ripped off but it's a horrible thing to do. read more

Very good food! Had a burger with sweet potato fries. Wine pours are on the scant side...not sure what the standard is but for 8$$ a glass it was less than half the glass full. Fire alarm went off during the meal and apparently they have no way to turn it off so waited "quite a while" for the fire dept. to arrive. Quite an ear piercing situation for over 10 minutes. Validation that it works--yeah! Guess that's the good news. Service was good---can't attest to ambience as truly the majority of the time the alarm was screaming. read more

Fried chicken, macaroni and cheese, grilled chicken, fresh green salad, scrambled eggs, omelets, waffles, pastry and fresh fruit. My favorite was the biscuits and gravy. Eaten here 4 times (3 w/ fam&friends). None of us were impressed. Very bland. And toppings (for multiple orders) came in thimble sizes. Which was not expected. Pinching Pennie's here it seems. Sunday brunch was about as bad as a continental breakfast at a bad motel. Try it and see. Don't be afraid to add a pinch of salt and pepper to the food mister chef. Also, the main manager (I was told) made me pull over and pay via credit card when I placed an order for pick up. I could have paid upon picking up. Seriously? I dined there at 5:30 p.m. on a Saturday night. The restaurant was not busy when the five of us arrived. However, it was around 75% capacity by 6:30. I ordered Shrimp and Grits, a favorite of mine. My wife had the grilled salmon. Our friends went with two burgers and a pasta dish. Service was prompt at the start but them slacked off, often with long gaps of unexplained activity. I ordered a gin martini on the rocks and they brought it straight up without rocks. They corrected this quickly. When our food arrived, about 30 minutes after we ordered it (which seemed like a long wait given the number of tables they were serving). My shrimp and grits was, frankly speaking, horrible. I've never had such tasteless cheddar grits as these. And they looked more like lumpy white mashed potatoes than grits. A total flop! I asked for a pasta dish and they agreed to replace my grits without any issues. However, when my pasta arrived, it too was flat, flavorless, and unimpressive. I didn't ask for any correction as the rest of my party was already halfway through their meals. Their take on food quality matched mine with the exception of my wife who said the grilled salmon was good. So in summary, this was a bad dining experience. It happens. I still tipped 20+% to the server. That's something I've been doing since the onset of the COVID pandemic. I appreciate people who are willing to be there to work. I'll chalk the food up to maybe a chef in training or something like that - but I'll not likely return. read more

Food was very good. The ambience, eh. It almost looks like a large cafeteria. It was a bit bright and no pictures on the wall. A bit sterile. But then again I went to get a good meal. I ordered the salmon and had the grits and carrots. The grits were probably some of the best ones I have had out to eat. I used to live in South Carolina and I would eat grits a lot in Charleston and make them myself. I have to say these are some of the best grits I have had in the Midwest. The salmon I asked to cook medium rare it was probably more on the medium well side but the seasoning was very good. The carrots were al dente and were excellent. I sat at the bar and the bartender who is from Japan was very friendly and my drinks were very good. Overall a nice experience. read more

It just wasn't for me. Don't het me wrong I liked the idea of different options you don't see around here. I tried some of them and they just didn't click. They have an open concept which is different and it looks high class. The prices are a bit higher than some other places. But you can see and taste the difference. I'll still go there and get food. The staff and the setup is fantastic. I just don't like seeing the kitchen, it distracts me too much. The sad thing is I was looking at the menu price and it's not that much more than some fast food places or chain restaurants. read more

We were tired travelers staying in a nearby hotel after a long day of some problems. My sister just wanted to hit a fast food place, but I talked her into trying the Blue Fork Kitchen on the basis of reviews and the availability of smaller items on their menu. She and her husband finally agreed. Two of us were happy to start with some adult beverages. My sis was hopeful about a certain beer, and the staff went out of their way to make it happen. She also ordered Sausage, Red Pepper, Orzo Soup and a side salad, and while she said that the soup seemed thick enough to be a stew, she pronounced it delicious. Her husband ordered the Pulled Pork Sliders. As he ate each of the three sliders (I thought you weren't hungry, hmm?), he repeated how great they tasted, and how much he liked the slaw on each of them. My mother and I both ordered the Southwest Chicken Salad, and subbed the Spicy Ranch dressing for the Avocado Ranch dressing described on the menu. Oh, my, that salad was just huge. Admittedly, most of the hugeness was lettuce, but there were plenty of black beans, corn, and crunchy tortilla strips, and there were a lot of big chunks of grilled chicken, more than I would have expected. It was very tasty and I ate the whole bowl, probably more than I should have but I hated to waste it. We all admired the large hanging sculpture made of rods and broken plates, and enjoyed the story of its origin. Service was excellent, and we all left very, very happy. If I lived nearer to Hasting, this is the kind of restaurant that you would find me eating at frequently. Visiting from Arizona and tried Blue Fork Kitchen. Amazing!! If you are visiting or a local, this place is a must! We had breakfast here this morning and had the poutine, Omaha Omelette and Carnitas Burrito. The other day we had we the BBQ Burger with cauliflower soup and Blue Fork Burger with fries. Forgot to take pictures of the food tonight, but it was good. Won't say it's great but very good. We had bacon cheese burger, build a pasts, blue fork burger, chicken bacon wrap and grand daughter had chicken strips. The sweet potatoes fries and good. Service in the other hand was 0, waited over 10 minutes to get served after being seated, asked if they had sweet tea and the waitress said yes, I asked is it good she replied actually it's unsweetened . Questioned about being charged charges for ranch dip for the chicken strips, didn't have a problem with the extra ranch but the first one, really for a kids meal. They did take it off when questioned, will try again, but definitely different waitress. read more

My friends & I went for the first time and the food was really good. Only complaint was that I got the chocolate waffle and it was half a waffle for $12, when my friends got a omelette & 2 sides for $12 and a sandwich that was big with fries for $12. I wish I would've known it was just half because I was still hungry after & could've got more for my money getting a different meal. read more
