It was the close-out event to a month-long celebration of my birthday and it was the perfect closer. I've long wanted to do a glass-blowing class so when this popped up I was excited to get my friends together to try it with me. Admittedly, it was not initially what I was expecting (there was no formal class or long instruction or presentation) BUT it actually turned out to be even better because it is more of a hands-on experience with individual attention from the staff along each step of the process. We had a reservation for 5pm and once we all arrived, we were given the safety breakdown and clear instructions on what we would be doing, and then we were off! Everyone chose something personal and had a blast creating it with the guidance of the kind, attentive and helpful staff. Each member in our party went one at a time with a different staffer to begin their creation, which was great because it allowed time and opportunity for us to capture video memories and photos of each other during the process. The prices are extremely reasonable, which I love because I tend to be a frugal fanny at times! I only wish the options for the class projects included a few more piece variations at each price range ($25 to $70). The projects from start to finish do not take very long, which is a good thing and bad thing...if you don't have anything planned for afterwards :-) At the end of the event, my friends all had something unique that they created in remembrance of our time together. I recently saw that they were offering a 1 hour online workshop with a guest speaker/ coach. The topic was about rest not being a luxury. With everything going on today, it was timely and on point. The coach dropped some gems during the first half, we were then able to ask questions via chat. After that, we started painting our signs with live follow the leader step by step instructions. The sign came in a nicely prepared box wrapped in lovely paper and was pre-stained. Also included were pots of paints of your chosen colors, a stencil transfer, paint brush, wooden flowers, small sponges for dabbing the paint on, and two recipes (face mask and a cocktail). The class was well moderated. The owner was streaming live from her home workshop with a really cool backdrop. This was well put together!!! My end product was amazing! I kept checking to see when it was open and it seems like the date kept being pushed further back. But fast forward and I saw an advertisement on Facebook about joining the Dundalk swim center. Imagine my excitement! I went in for a tour a couple days ago and I was even more excited when I saw the pool in person. I was given a tour, some insight on the best times to swim, and information about future swim lessons. The staff is very friendly and they're waiting for you all to come swim! It's not a very big pool, but the secret is that not many people know it's open. So today I had it all to myself aside from a few women who were doing water aerobics. The water is nice and warm but not too warm. I swam 2,000 yd and didn't feel like it was hot. Will, the operations director/life guard, is very friendly and will answer any questions you may have. By the way, it's a 25-yard pool. The locker room is nice with plenty of lockers, bring your lock for the day. They also have one of those machines to dry out your swim gear. Overall, it's a great pool and I'm glad that it's open! I'll be back regularly!

I am deeply saddened that this will be the last year that my son attends ABBS…read more He will be done with 8th grade and we will have to move on. His experience at the school has been excellent. He has been challenged academically and has been cared for and nurtured there. The amount of support that I had from both the teachers and the administration were superb and even unexpected. He adores all his teachers and all staff, they are caring and more than fair. I love that ABBS is a smaller school, they really get to know all the kids and parents have an easy access to all teachers and staff. Although we all loved and miss Miss Marshall, the new Principal, Miss Freeman has brought in so many positive ideas and excitement into the school. If you are considering ABBS look no further. Oh I also have to say that although we love every teacher at the school, I must specifically mention Miss A. since she has been my son's homeroom teacher for the past two years and had to put up with us on regular basis. Miss A is the perfect combination of fun but a teacher that keeps her class in order and focused, we simply will miss her terribly!
