Woo-Hoo! I finally got to try the Dugout. My boyfriend first showed it to me last Christmas; but since they are open seasonally I wasn't able to try them out. I made sure that this summer though I'd catch them in action! I came on my second to last day of vacation and my last day of vacation. My boyfriends cousin had been non-stop talking about a pumpkin pie ice cream treat (Kinda like a DQ Blizzard) and I knew I had to try it! it had pumpkin ice cream, white Oreo cookie, came with a dollop of whip cream and a cherry on top - and it DID NOT DISAPPOINT! ( I do however, wish I could have added caramel to it :( that would have been B-O-M-B!! Oh well, next time Zoie!) My boyfriend had a salted caramel ice cream cone and his little sister had a grasshopper which was a mint and chocolate concoction and which I kept grabbing little bites of. The next day I decided to try them for lunch. I had the cheeseburger combo meal which came with a large portion of fries (enough for 2!) and a side of 'slaw. The burger was super delicious and came with pickles, lettuce, and the reddest tomato that I have ever seen! The fries were a bit disappointing in a "came from a bag" sort of way. I would have loved if they were farm fresh - but for under $5 I can not complain. Also - GET THE MARSHMALLOW COKE! DO IT!!! Stuff to note: cash only, not open all year round, you can call your order in, great variety on the menu, covered outdoor seating, parking lot, yummy as heck!

A bit out of the way for this Lafayette resident, but I always make several visits during the summer.

Best small town food in the area. Worth the drive from Lafayette and the wait if there is a line. Great ice cream selection.

First off, I have always picked where I want to sit, the part about "server is busy, and that table is served by a specific server" is nonsensical, they should really change or add a server to the seating area that customers prefer (near window, more lighting etc) rather than having the customer sit somewhere else for their servers convenience. Secondly, I picked up the glass for water and it smelled like an egg, I called out the server (who already seemed annoyed to change of seats) and told her about the glass and the response I got was "we wash our glasses in vinegar so it must be that", well first off, I know the difference between vinegar and egg smell, secondly, it was disgusting and I cannot drink water in it, instead of arguing, she really should have just changed the glass, it's not that hard.

All of us were dressed in our church attire and arrived on time for our scheduled reservation. Unfortunately, the reception we received was unwelcoming--the host's comments and tone made us feel judged based solely on our appearance. It was an uncomfortable start to what should have been a simple family meal. Our waiter, by contrast, was wonderful--kind, attentive, and genuinely professional. The food was also very good, and we appreciated the quality of the dishes. However, the overall experience was overshadowed by the attitude at the front desk, which set a tone that made us feel our presence wasn't valued. It's disheartening to feel out of place somewhere you've made a reservation and planned to enjoy with your family. Sadly, despite the good food and great table service, I couldn't fully enjoy the meal because of how we were treated upon arrival.

The entrance on the side of the building can be tricky to notice, so don't blink, otherwise, you might miss it. Since I'm not from Lafayette, I looked it up ahead of time on Google Maps and zoomed in to see exactly where it was. The restaurant is medium-sized and kept clean, with generous portion sizes. I ordered an Impossible burger with fries, which was fine. My friends ordered shrimp linguine, which they enjoyed, while another friend got gyros fries and nachos; she thought her meal was just okay. Overall, my experience was average, but everyone around us seemed to be enjoying their meals. If you're in the area, I would recommend checking it out, it's worth a try!

We had the grinder and the fried chicken sandwich. The grinder had great flavor. The fried chicken breast sandwich is brined and the meat has a pink hue that has caused some people to think it's not cooked thoroughly. But that is not correct according to the restaurant. It's due to the brining process for the chicken. The prices were good. The service was good. The not so good, the fries are hand cut and thin. They would have been great except they were lukewarm and seemed to have been sitting out awhile. The onion rings were terrible. Also hand cut but the breading fell off all the onions. They did not have good flavor either. I recommend coming into the building by Nom Nom if you have people who have trouble with stairs. The other entrance has two steps but there's no railing. My 81 year old mother had trouble with that. We learned of the other entrance and used that one when we left.

America is quickly becoming coast to coast franchises but locally owned restaurants like I & I don't just lend nostalgia to a quickly disappearing past, but give us hope for the future. I'm sure you're not reading this review for my prophesy for the future of the US, so here's a review of the food. Ah-mazing. I got the Elwood Burger Cheddar Horseradish Chive Cheese, Bourbon Bacon Jam, Grilled Onion and a side of fries. The burger was well portioned, and perfectly cooked. The toppings were to die for. We were just passing through and needed dinner but if I'm ever in whatever town this is again, I will definitely be stopping here. I can't say this is the best restaurant in town, only because I've only eaten here but my suspicion is that it is. I'm tempted to purchase the property across the street (beside the prison) just to eat here every day. I think it'd be a fair trade. Just don't pick up any hitchhikers out front.

The food was really good - my husband had a burger and I had a grilled tenderloin. We noticed on the menu that all of the meat was locally raised, which explains why the prices are higher than average. The fries were really yummy. And our service was top-notch. We will definitely stop in again!
