Brian (part of the staff) greeted us on Day 1, and he was there just about all of the time. He was extremely, extremely helpful. And extremely, extremely nice. Service like this goes a long way. Some special notes which made this place way, way above your typical hotel stay (as compared to mainstream brands like Hilton or Marriot).. The room(s) were impeccable with detail. Everything from the chairs outside of the rooms, the towels, folding the beds/pillows etc... You could tell they put a custom touch on. The breakfast was nothing short of delicious staring with the coffee, which was excellent quality coffee. Not farmer bros or max house, this stuff was top tier. (I am a coffee snob and do strictly pour overs only at home). Breakfast burritos were delicious. And the huckleberry jam and bread was excellent. You get a REAL breakfast here. Great location, you can walk down the hill, there is a nice place to eat nearby (Belton chalet). It is very peaceful. The air is so clean you can smell it. 100% highest and strongest endorsement.

It is close to the West park entrance. Best of all is how Brian runs this lodge, from attention to detail of amenities, cleanliness, yummy breakfast burritos and yogurt bowls for breakfast. Our bag lunch we ordered and Brian made was so nice to have on our day drive the next day. This place is quaint, quiet and so nice to come back to after an adventurous day. We stayed in room #5 on the 1st floor. We loved it. Has a refrigerator, microwave, coffeemaker (tea and coffee) Nice roomy bathroom, two queen beds in a spacious room with a patio off the back as well as Adirondack chairs in the front. Yet after all those years and all those travels, I can honestly say I have never stayed at an inn that made me feel quite as welcomed, cared for and completely spoiled as Garden Wall Inn in Whitefish, Montana. The inn itself is beautiful - elegant while remaining cozy and welcoming, intimate, impeccably appointed and filled with all the details that make a place feel truly special. But what sets Garden Wall Inn apart is something much harder to describe and even harder to find: the extraordinary care behind absolutely everything. Nothing feels routine. My glass of wine was beautifully presented on a silver tray. There is a wonderful selection of pillows, excellent lighting, lovely linens and chocolates waiting at bedtime. Beautiful china and silver turn breakfast into an occasion. And those breakfasts! Local fruits and yogurts, the owners incredible baking and one delicious surprise after another, all beautifully prepared and presented. I may have come home a pound or two heavier, but every single ounce was worth it! Even our departure was made special. We were given fabulous travel breakfasts in beautiful bags, complete with personal notes signed by our hosts. It was such a small and gracious gesture, yet it perfectly captured what makes Garden Wall Inn so extraordinary: they think of the things you would never think to ask for. But the greatest luxury here isn't something you can photograph. It's the hospitality! There is a genuine warmth and generosity at Garden Wall Inn that cannot be manufactured or taught. You are not simply given a beautiful room and a wonderful breakfast - you are welcomed, looked after and made to feel that your stay truly matters. We arrived as guests and left feeling as though we were saying goodbye to friends. I have been home only a short time, and I'm already wishing Chris or Rhonda would appear at my desk with my beautifully presented glass of wine on a silver tray! There are beautiful hotels. There are charming inns. And then, every once in a great while, you discover a place that becomes one of the very best memories of the trip itself. Garden Wall Inn is that place! It's walking distance from a vibrant downtown with very nice locally owned shops and restaurants. The owners of the inn are so welcoming, friendly, accommodating and knowledgeable! The breakfasts, prepared by one of the owners (a chef!) in their own kitchen, are absolutely scrumptious and gorgeously presented. We departed wishing we could have stayed even longer. Every morning we were given an explanation on what we were eating. Game room and full kitchen for guest to cook if they wanted to. We traveled from Jackson hole, Yellowstone and onto to Glacier. This is by far the best place we stayed. Owner Bill is very friendly and knowledgeable on the area.

Shayla, our host, texted us ahead of time to make sure we were all set for a smooth check-in. That small gesture alone made us feel genuinely cared for. Each day, Shayla prepared the most delicious homemade baked goods, which made us feel like we were at a home away from home. Since we planned to head to Glacier National Park early each day, she kindly packed to-go breakfasts for us--always thoughtful, fresh, and satisfying. On the mornings we stayed in, she served beautiful homemade breakfasts that were just as delicious. The extra touches throughout the lodge made our stay even more special--the self-serve charcuterie, fresh fruit, and beverages were such a nice bonus. The lodge itself was peaceful and quiet, which we really appreciated. We stayed for five nights and can confidently say this was one of our favorite places we've ever stayed. The location is wonderful bc it's only 20 minutes from the West Glacier park entrance and tons of nearby hiking as well as the towns of Whitefish and Kalispell which have tons of shopping, dining, and adventure in winter and summer. It's also close to some things in the smaller town of Columbia where it is located like Montana Coffee Traders which you can actually just walk to from the hotel and Cowgirl coffee. There are also gas stations and other shops nearby if you need a few things. The gal at check-in was amazing and kind and had our room ready for us with my third floor request checked in despite our super late check-in (11pm) and they were always happy and greeted us kindly when we came and went. There is a small (2 washers and 2 dryers) laundry room on the 2nd floor where you can wash your clothes. They're old and only have like 2 settings but if your things are funky after long hikes like ours, it's a lifesaver. They sell detergent and dryer sheets in a pack for $2 at the lobby. Prices are extremely fair for this nearby location to the park and for the amenities provided and size of the room. Note: I took a star away bc we stayed four days and they absolutely refused to do a room refresh. At day two I asked to have towels and trash taken care of and was told that we could put the trash outside the room and they would leave fresh towels in a shopping bag by our door. What?! I've been traveling a lot and they're milking the COVID thing for all it is worth. 4 days in a hotel is a long time to have no cleaning whatsoever. I understand every other day, or upon request, but that was a bit much and I didn't like it. Hire the staff, go back to cleaning rooms. We spent two weeks on this trip and this was the only hotel that pulled this crap.

Amazing sun room to relax in and see the outdoors even when raining or cold. Additionally, plenty of patio as well as yard space to sit outdoors. The room was adorable and clean. Everything was meticulously maintained and clean and organized. The beds were very comfortable and it was really quiet. We went a little crazy in the gift shop because Brooke, the proprietor, purchased such cute things! We stayed in the crescent moon cabin across from the horses pasture which was very peaceful to watch. The small ponds, fountains, how the grounds are lit up at night makes it even more Magical.

Great hotel in downtown Whitefish!…read more I was in town for business and stayed 1 night at the Firebrand and had a great time! I confirmed my airport shuttle the day before with Shannon over the phone. She was kind and very informative regarding the area and how to make the most of my time there. I didn't rent a car so I loved that the Free SNOW bus was running and hopped on it to do some sightseeing at the top of the mountain. After I was finished exploring, I checked out the beautiful rooftop and hot tub.... Really nice views! And luckily there were lots of dinner options nearby also! The bed was comfy, the shower was great, and the room was quiet. The Nespresso machine pumped out a good cup of coffee in the morning, which I appreciated. Overall, really enjoyed my stay here and would love the opportunity to stay again. If you're looking for good accommodations in the downtown Whitefish area, I'd highly recommend giving the Firebrand a try! Happy Travels!

Firebrand - downtown Whitefish…read more I stayed here 6 days at the end of August. I'll start with "the good." The hotel is in a perfect location if you enjoy walking to restaurants and shops. Firebrand had an excellent breakfast. There was usually a wait for the food to arrive after ordering but it was worth it. Happy hour was also very nice. Great prices - tasty apps. The servers at both breakfast and dinner were delightful. The upstairs, outdoor area was beautiful and tranquil. The hotel was decorated in a lodge theme, which was, obviously, on point, very interesting and beautiful. Unfortunately the sofa in front of the fireplace had two long slits in the cushions. Management should definitely take time to have that repaired. It's uncomfortable and unsightly. I guess we're sliding toward "the bad." Our first night we got little sleep. Normally I don't comment on loud guests, etc. That usually has little to do with the hotel. Apparently a room across the hall had music playing loudly, which we could not hear. Another room complained to the front desk. The front desk sent an employee to request the music be turned down. There was apparently no response from the guests in the room. The employee continued to bang and beat on the door for a very long time- then said employee went outside to banged on the windows. That did not wake the guests. So the employee came back in and banged on the door more. This went on for a what seemed like an eternity. Next, our room was not clean. I can honestly say it was dirty. Everyday there would be young men (I think the hotel had an exchange program where university students in other countries could come and live / work in the US for the summer) in the hallways, blowing up cleaning gloves and hitting them to each other as a game. Even though we were not in our room, and did not have a do not disturb sign on the door, our room did not get cleaned. We finally figured it out. If they waited until we returned to the room to rest before dinner; we would just request towels. Then they could forgo the cleaning. (On our 6 day trip, our room was made up once.) The last zinger (which I brought to the attention of the very nice front desk person, Shannon) was the door hanger for do not disturb, which said, "Busy." It was a view from outside a keyhole spying in on a woman. This is totally inappropriate. Are you promoting the stalking of women? Do you think they should be spied on and unsafe in hotel rooms? This is total tone deaf in a culture where woman should feel safe traveling alone and whose safety should not be joked about. Whitefish was delightful. I do not think I'd stay at this Firebrand Hotel again because there would be no way to assure these negatives had been addressed.
