This classy cafe is situated inside the grounds of Fulham palace, so for location alone it would get 5 stars. It's lovely to walk around the palace on a hot sunny day as its free to enter but feels like you're a world away from congested, stuffy, central London.
However, location is not my biggest concern when eating a restaurant. Food is. I was very impressed by their delicious home made cakes and bakes come elevenses / coffee time. The millionaires shortbread was particularly special and the coffee is pretty strong and decent. However, come for anything other than cake - ie lunch- and you may be as disappointed as I was to pay £8.50 for a quiche with salad and be presented with a TINY slither of a quiche and a couple of sprigs of rocket. The mark up on that must have been insane! Sandwiches are larger but there's more bread than filling.
I'd go back for cake and a walk around the grounds in a heartbeat but find somewhere else near Putney or Fulham for lunch. read more
