I currently live here. When we had our last cold front, (Dec of 2022) the heat was turn down low enough as to not freeze the pipes. Management did not communicate to us that this was going to happen. Many of us were not prepared for this. There is bug infestation as well. I told the front office. They had an exterminator come in. I was at work when they came by. (Feb 1) That friday (Feb 3) My apartment was burglarized. They stole my tools, Xbox, a suitcase, and loose change. Made a police report. That following monday (Feb 6) My apartment was burglarized again. They were in apartment around 10 am. (Got a text message from my internet provider.) Made sure my door was locked. (I was at work) I found hand prints by the window and a painted stick (see picture). Made a police report again. I had my lock changed monday. Management did not communicate that there was a burglary that happened. None of my neighbors are aware what happened to me. Not accusing management just stating my experience as of current. UPDATE: This is an update. It has been over a month since I was burglarized. Management has not reached out to me. All they did was tell me I had the wrong address on the insurance. They didn't speak to me. Just left a letter on my door. I was going through my stuff I found "Universal Mail box Lock". The same type of lock that is used in our mail room. (See picture below.) I was speaking to one of my neighbors the other day, She mention that there was some one at her door trying to get in. When she heard that she asked who was there. The person had left with out saying anything. There is no cameras facing any apartment doors. Two weeks ago, the building was surrounded by police officers with guns drawn. Management never told us why they were here. I feel unsafe living here. I am nervous all the time that someone is going to come in to my place again. Management does not care about our safety. If I can give this apartment complex zero stars, I would . The management company in the office are the rudest group of individuals that I know. The maintenance department does not know how to maintenance. They it seems like they just hired these people off of the street. I have never in my life dealt with a group of individuals who have no respect or just plain ignorant. They're all of their apartments are shit the elevators never work instead of fixing the problem they choose to hike up your rent so that you're paying over 1500 dollars. Instead of charging your renters all of this money. Maybe you should put more energy into maintaining your apartments. The entire complex needs to be thrown away in the trash plus their management team all garbage. read more

Wish I could do zero stars. Just like everyone else says they are money hungry and don't give a crap about their tenants. I gave 60 day notice that I was moving out and wanted to end my lease. Talked to them in the office extensively about moving out. The month after I leave, my old roommate doesn't pay the bill, and I still get hit with an eviction and almost $4000 in penalties that they sent to collection. They told me it doesn't matter than I gave notice, the lease automatically renewed just because my roommate stayed, so they acted like I was his co-signer or something. Spent a bunch more money in legal advice trying to get it worked out but in the end I just gave up. They ruined my credit and ability to live somewhere else and I did what I was supposed to when I left. Please find somewhere else to live, it's not worth it. read more

I have lived at this apartment complex for 4 years. THIS PLACE IS TERRIBLE. The management sucks, they have no respect for tenants, and they are money hungry. You will get billed for anything and everything they can. People do not leave these kind of reviews for no reason. I had a friend move into the complex and they claim that you get $500 for anyone you refer to The Drake (it takes it off your next months rent) it turned out they gave me a $250 credit for the rent. When the time came to pay them I paid them $250 dollars less than I normally would. About a day or two later I had a "3 day notice" on my door and they were threatening to evict me. After 10- 15 calls to the office and no reply I went the next day to speak with them about it. They told me that it was an error on their end. They did not apologize and made it seem like it wasn't a big deal. I just had the same thing happen again. I paid them the full amount and they have not acknowledged that I over paid so we will see how this goes. I move out at the end of March and the time cannot come soon enough. read more

Lived here for 6 months, got my clothes stolen out the dryer, a homeless person break into my car and sleep there and I have went without hot water for weeks. We have gotten stuck in the elevator that lost power while on the SIXTH floor, not to mention all the pet urine on the floors of the hallways and elevators. Only half the burners on the stove work and our toilets and faucets leak from not being sealed correctly. I'm almost certain that I hear mice in the walls/ceiling daily if not at least once a week. They leave warnings on your car often that they will tow you but leave other abandoned cars for months. Don't even bother trying to call the office they're not going to answer. I went to the pool one time in summer and the water was so disgusting with bugs leaves and dirt that I didn't swim or ever go back. Bought a new car and my doors got dented and scratched repeatedly until there were no more clean spots. My floor is also uneven and has spots where it feels like it's about to cave.... once again we're on the 6th floor... basically no part of this apartment complex is worth the money at all and you will want to get out of here FAST. read more

I moved to the drake Apartments around this time last year. I am currently facing an eviction from the drake due to only being late by a few days. For the past few months I've been paying $800 rent at my one bedroom apartment that includes late fees. I get paid the 15 & 30th I let the building know I was gonna be a little late due to my job having delays with our checks. I end up getting an 3 day notice. I called and tried to talk to Angela in the office who only cares about money advises me to pay this current month rent along with next months rent with a $75 late fee and a $300 dollar eviction fee. They only care about money I called several times trying to work out the situation with them in the office they don't return phone calls. Now I have no place to go, had to file bankruptcy to stop them from suing. I will never recommend this place to anyone. Angela needs to be fired there's no compassion for the tenants. They also leave trash in the halls and in the stairwell as much money as people pay to live here it could be kept up a little better. read more

They only got one star because I was forced to do it RATE: -10 There were constant leaks in the apartment, the maintenance came to fix the leak every week, also there was mold growing in my toilet (how does it grown in a toilet idk) and in my bedroom closet (also how is that possible) I never got my security deposit back Now they are trying to charge me for cleaning out my apartment which if someone is moving in that is there job to clean and sanitize after I already cleaned which I did....the management is horrible and they try to get more money from you after you move out...please take pics and videos of the apartment after you leave showing the date so they won't try and rip you off read more

If I can give this building a zero star I would. I moved into the apartment probably 20 days ago since then I have problems after problem. first when I walk into the apartment I have a dirty bathroom the doors are broken there were 20+ issues I have listed and dropped it off to the maintained office the following morning. It doesn't end there even after that I found issues with the dishwasher (the water that comes out of the dishwasher were dirty water and would turn on automatically) the fridge the stove and oven. And to make it worse I saw centipede in the apartment at first, I saw one and last night I saw three (I am scared to even go back home), the apartment also has bed bugs whenever I sit on the carpet do any type of work something bits me, as I never had experience with bed bugs I had no idea about their bites. I came into work and showed to my colleague and he said it is a bedbug bite it was the most embarrassing moment ever since everyone wants to stay away from bedbugs. It doesn't end there the maintenance guy came over yesterday to fix the shower I wasn't home my friend was visiting for couple of days was showing him the issue with the shower (when taking a shower hot water automatically comes out and u would end up burning yourself) and the guy walked out on him and told him to fix the shower. I have a woggle stove that I fear, when some hot will spill on me since its woggle and the maintenance guy told me he can't do anything about it, so should I just cook and burn my self is drake going to take that responsibility? I am just so tired of the unprofessionalism in this building as well, my friend has referred me to the building and told me to refer him as there is a referral bonus of $500. I constantly told the leasing office guy that make sure he gets the money and he said yes he will as long as you sign a lease(I signed a six month lease), and guess what there was no $500 dollar referral for my friend. I called the leasing office why he didn't get the money and they told me I didn't sign a one year lease therefore, there is no referral bonus. I spoke to Khalil(extremely rude) the leasing office employee and told him why didn't you tell me that I would need to sign a 1 year lease. He said "It's not my job" then my question is why are u working in a leasing office if u don't know the terms and condition on leasing. I constantly told him make sure my friend gets the $500 dollar bonus before I signed the lease. He said there are flyers inside the building regarding the details inside the building mind it I am a new tenant that wanted to move his blaming me why I didn't look at the flyer. So how am I supposed to go inside the building without keys. So, what is his job in the leasing office. DRAKE seriously needs to train their employees. read more

This company is now The Drake Apartments and is an absolutely terrible place to live!! STAY AWAY! This company will try to take your money anyway that they can. They are nothing but a bunch of SCAMMERS. Horrible customer service, no respect for their tenants, and they are not truthful people. Also seems to be a new person working in their office everyday, very high turnover of employees. They claimed that my rent was not paid when I clearly paid rent, paperwork had been "misplaced" when it was signed at their desk in their office. They make up numbers for what fees that you owe them and refuse to print bills to show the breakdown. The location itself is great but it is not worth it to live there. The elevators are dangerous and the doors will close on you. I move out at the end of the month and that day cannot come fast enough! I am honestly afraid to see what more hundreds of dollars they are going to try to make me pay when I move out after being charged hundreds already. Ridiculous joke of a company. read more

Although we lived here for many years, always paid our bills on-time, never caused issues, and gave plenty of notice before terminating our lease, the Drake and its employees still treated us like dirt. They sent us to collections FIVE days after FINALLY sending us our last bill (which had no due date, but was still paid by us in full one week after receiving the bill). If I had known they had such a ridiculous due date I would have sent the check next-day certified mail. When I called them to resolve the issue the woman in charge was exceedingly rude and didn't seem to care that her bill had no due date- I was somehow supposed to just "know" that the bill should be paid in five days. She confirmed they received our check but would have to send it to collections to be cashed, and would send it out that day. Well no surprise.....I called back one week later to check in on things, and luckily talked to someone else, who told me the check was still sitting in the office. Luckily, their one good employee actually did her job and was very sweet. I called corporate to complain and of course, no one has ever answered their phone. For the amount of rent they charge, their units are run-down and their maintenance "fixes" are laughable. Mold is everywhere. If you don't mind the poor quality, you should still stay away from the uncaring, unprofessional attitudes of their staff. I can't believe they choose to run their business this way. read more

During your initial tour and first few months of living there you'll probably find the place to be perfect. Soon enough though you'll notice the smell of marijuana wafting into your apartment from the countless amount of neighbors who smoke it. Then you'll realize that the police, fire department, and ambulance services are regular daily visitors to the complex. The leasing office will insist that they are there for patrol purposes but I have only ever seen them come in with a purpose. There was actually a note posted to my buildings door asking for tenants to stop smoking marijuana, letting pets go to the bathroom in hallways, and to stop throwing trash off of balconies. These activities, I'm sure, still continue. They've had to add extra cameras because so many people are urinating and smoking in the elevators, hallways, and stairwells. This place is the filthiest and unhappiest place I've ever had the misfortune to live in. This place is truly hell because it's impossible to leave with a cent in your pocket as they charge you for every little thing. I would not wish for my worst enemy to live here and if you don't believe me then before you sign your lease just talk to the residents at the end of your tour. Most are planning to move out ASAP and from personal experience I can tell you there's a lot of residents that move in and immediately move out. read more

I do live at The Drake apartments and after reading some of these reviews it seems that most do not live anymore and they had some sort of an issue so that is why they leave bad reviews. I have lived here through two management companies. And Morgan is doing a good job compared to K&D. Unfortunately i see what my neighbors do and Im sure in can be difficult with many personalities that live here to try and make everyone happy. Unfortunately most people do not do what they are told and when they are called on it, bad reviews are written. I was in the leasing office once when someone was yelling because they were late with their rent and was blaming the office for it. How can it be their fault when your the adult and should be paying rent? I hope people will realize when reading reviews that there is always the other side. The office staff is very friendly and does try to help you when its within their abilities. They have always been nice to me but again, i do follow the rules so I do not have any issues with them or the property. I love my apartment too. Maintenance comes timely for any repairs. read more

I signed a short term lease (6months) back in April 2015 and moved out October 2015. The thought of renewing the lease never crossed my mind seeing as how these apartments DO NOT inform you, in person or online, that they are low income apartments, meaning they accept section 8. If I wanted to live in the HOOD, I would've moved to the hood, better yet down in the projects!!!! This is something that should be disclosed to all potential tenants. Then I get a collection letter in the mail, 3 months after i moved out, stating that I owe them $900 for miscellaneous move out fees. Doesn't there have to be several attempts made to collect any finds owed to you before it goes to collection???? I mean you have a forwarding address to send a collection notice, why wasn't something send to me prior to informing me of these crazy charges that they've came up with. I had nothing but problems each and every month with my monthly charges. My rent was paid on time every month yet I was still getting notices on my door about past due amounts. This was an inconvenience to have to speak with "Angela" in the leasing office each month to have this mess cleared up and also an embarrassment having notices placed on my door like I didn't pay my rent. Now when I get in contact with "Angela" she doesn't want to tell me what they are charging me for but you guys expect for me to give you additional money for something I have no idea I'm paying for....INSANE!!!!!
