The therapists at Drake are truly talented and caring. The nurses are very supportive to the patient. I was truly impressed by how fast they can be at getting someone closer to being independent. read more

XRay for outpatient services is amazing. Was registered, checked in, completed xray, and out the door in less than 15 minutes. I WILL NEVER GO ANYWHERE ELSE FOR XRAYS AGAIN. LOVED IT!!!! read more

Staff was EXCELLENT. BUT PATIENT CARE IS LACKING IN A MAJOR WAY. ESPECIALLY ON WEEKENDS. Getting MEDS for pain was impossible due to only 1 nurse being available is not good for patients being in pain for hours. read more

My wife just was sent to DDC last Friday from base in Clifton. She is a paraplegic and needs certain care plus she is on 100% bed rest (back only) and needs assistance with everything to take care of daily hygiene,etc. So far she had waited today for 2 hours for bathroom help and still zero sign of a nurse. She calls, aid turns off call button and then nothing. Food is inedible. Her ham was brown and tasted funny so called back to ask of ot was even ham. The hospitalist is basically just a babysitter, it doesn't seem that chart notes are even read. Her anxiety about just being here is off the chart. Majorly understaffed (as admitted by staff members) and patient care is definitely not a priority here. Do not come here, do not send people you care about to this facility. We will be asking if there are other options where she can recover. Just make sure you are advocating for your loved ones. read more

as a patient to get meds or pain meds, the wait is entirely too long. staff being short is a very big issue.

Nice facility. Appalling staff. My mother had lung cancer and was in Drake inpatient hospice care for about a week. She wanted to come home, Drake said they strongly advised against it. When my mother insisted on coming home, and granted she could get very mean at the end, the nurses told her I said I didn't want her to come home. The doctor who talked to my husband, brother and me also told her, in front of us, "Your children do not want you to come home", after we had told him we needed to get a hospital bed and potty chair before we could bring her home. I was disgusted by this, and my mother never let that go, believing we did not want her home. She died feeling like a burden because the doctor became exasperated trying to convince her to stay, she (meanly) insisted on going home, and Dr decided to throw us under the bus to convince her to stay. read more

Overall our experience was very good. It was great to have therapy daily at a SNF. Not always typical. Which in our case with a Spinal Cord Injury was very important. We stayed with my (dad) daily. Never leaving him alone at Drake even through the evening. This created relationships with nurses and staff in a way which could be abnormal if you are coming and going as family members or a quieter patient. The only downfall was the turnover of staff - which is part of it. But when we had consistency it helped tremendously. Everyone knew my dad as a person and patient and knew what to expect. read more

Drake is the worst place ever. My brother is there with brain injury and the nurses are so mean & it takes 30 mins or more when you push call light. They tell family not to consul him when he is SCREAMING for us & no touching him. He gets extremely agitated when he is in pain & they try to blame it on family for talking to him. I am reporting them for the way they treat people & that place is so nasty . The pca sit in room with my brother & make fun of other patients & one of them ignored other patients calls because she said she was on her period & didnt feel like working. Drake needs to be shut down immediately. read more

I worked here for 3 years and it was horrible. Management was a mess and treated the staff terribly. The nurse and other staff are over worked, overwhelmed and burnet out. I didn't realize how burn out I was until I got another nursing job else where. My advice- don't work here unless you have no other choice and if you do have to work here get your experience then leave read more

My son has been treated very good every time I have been there it is extremely clean. I think the nurses and aids do a good job always take time to keep me updated . The therapy is also awesome he has had major improvements since he arrived. read more

The nursing staff is fantastic (though seemingly understaffed), however the management is abysmal. I'm in patient recovering from a surgery I had at University and it seems like communication between staff is non existent. Twice I've been taken out of my room for an appointment I didn't have and trying to get answers is like asking a blind person to read a billboard. Again, the nursing staff is great. They do everything they can to correct issues. Its very clear that the issues are at the top. I would never recommend this facility to anyone. read more

Bad, Bad place. The staff always looked at me like I had two heads. I was very sick. On oxygen with short tube. When I needed help the aides would just shake their heads. Would not send a dog there. read more

My mom was sent here after suffering a brain aneurysm. She was at the Drake rehab located in Christ hospital. While I do think their respiratory therapists where excellent and I do think they did ok monitoring my mom they really didn't do anything else. She was there almost three weeks and not seen once by a doctor, they never consulted with a neurologists to try something to help her get more alert. They were not proactive at all in her care. The insurance company wanted my mother shipped off to a skilled nursing facility and the social worker/case manager NOT ONCE told us how we could appeal that and said there was nothing they could do. The killed nursing facility where my mom went to(for a whole 14 hours before she had to go back to UC) examined my mom and even told the Nurse Practitioner and Case worker at Drake that they had reservations about my mom and didn't think she should go. Again they dropped the ball because these people care more about the insurance companies then the actual patients welfare. They allowed my mom to be transferred to a skill nursing facility, who already said they didnt think could care for her, and they also failed to actually talk to the charge nurse facility before safely discharging her. Isn't there an actual law or requirement that before you discharge someone to another facility you actually have to get a hold of someone at said facility and give full report? They tried calling the fatality once and didn't get a hold of someone so that should of been a red flag to not allow my mom to be discharged yet. If your insurance allows it please choose anywhere but this place. Specialty Select hospital was AMAZING and took excellent care of my mom read more

If you are looking for a rehabilitation center and if you ONLY need to be helped with PT this is the place to go, if you have ANY other health issues stay away! Physical therapy is good here, compared to other rehabilitation centers they actually work with patients a lot to help gain strength. However for inpatient care it seems they have a B team of nurses. Overall they are rude and seem annoyed when people put on their call light for help. Every day if you ask a simple question (for example, where can visitors put outside food for patients) you will get a dramatically different response. You will not get timely care. They do not read charts well and certainly do not communicate with your other physicians, from my perspective they pushed options other doctors did not recommend. read more

If you care about a family member who has suffered a devastating stroke or other injury, do not leave them at Drake by themselves. For the most part that staff is lazy, will not change soiled bed clothing, will not suction patients as ordered, most of the staff is cold, heartless and apathetic about giving care. Twice my husband was left in his wet bed for over an hour. After multiple times of asking for someone to change his sheets, I requested a clean set to do it myself. A staff member handed me the sheets and walked off. She didn't offer to help me move him or offer any advice on how to do so. Clean linen is always hard to find at Drake. The place is filthy. One night I left for the evening and came back to find my husband almost drowning in his lung secretions. He hadn't been suctioned all night and he was in respiratory distress. I know they are overworked just like everyone but the shocking lack of care at Drake is close to what you'd expect to see in a third world country instead of a facility ran by UC. read more
