Once upon a time we had these mom&pop donut shops all around town but they have been replaced by the consistent and reliable (ahem boring) chains. So when I saw this blast from the past of a diner near the bottom of the QEW bridge, the nostalgia hit me and i made a U-turn. A bit off of the main streets, in an industrial area, but still convenient to locate. We got the lemon donut, a big rectangular soft dough sprinkled with crunchy sugar and filled with a decent amount of tangy lemon jelly, kinda like pie. Also got the soft and crumbly chocolate coconut donut. Legit chocolaty! It has that deep dark choco colour. Yum! Went in around 3pm and there wasn't much selection left but we were very happy with what we got. Worth a little detour if you are in the mood for an old school donut. One star less cuz I don't think it's accessible. 2 entrances both have steps. read more

above and beyond service from the lovely Kay! it was simply a pleasure to be a customer here - i have seldom felt so welcome in an establishment. stellar and authentic customer service. the donuts were so delicious! i came later in the evening and there was still a wide variety of flavours to choose from. probably the neatest thing about this place is the retro vibes, u genuinely feel like u were brought back to the early 2000s (and not in a way thats tacky or concerning for ur health). there's the coolest feature table in the middle that would be perfect for board games or a big group (it's probably the single most perfect spot for the after-church crowd). a little out of my way but super worth the trip. will definitely be back! :) read more

The environment is very classic and welcoming! the staff is extremely friendly no matter the time of day and the coffee is hot and fresh.

I told my sister that I was so craving a delicious yummy cake or doughnut. She knew exactly where to go. The donut stop is amazing. Every single one of their donuts is gorgeous. And I understand that they make all of their donuts fresh on site. I'm looking forward to one day going in for their breakfast as I'm hearing great things about those as well. read more

Ive passed this place a thousand times in the industrial north eastern area of Hamilton, it seems to blend in to the surrounding area. However I've only recently stepped in to have a donut and coffee. While the coffee was fresh, and the waitress was impossibly nice, the donuts put Tim Hortons to shame. The donuts are freshly baked daily, delivered between 12-1am and are always great. Looking forward to gaining a lot of weight this winter. read more

I just had donuts this morning from this place. It was fantastic. The jelly donut in particular was to die for. I would definitely recommend this place because of the quality of the ingredients and the mom and pop feel (that Canada is losing nowadays due to spread of low quality chains). Excellent rich coffee at the Donut Stop as well. This place is probably the best place to hang out or get work done with a coffee and donut in Hamilton. Returning to Buffalo from Toronto, Canada, we unexpectedly made a stop in the steel mill area and this 24 hour truck stop donut shop in Hamilton. Being the middle of the night, the waitress had about a dozen donuts remaining before the next delivery which was possibly any moment. I asked for one - she placed all 12 in the bag! I said to her "I don't want to take advantage but thank you." She takes out about 4, leaves the rest! On the way out, we left her a $10 tip. Sure the coffee was average at best but the service and hospitality was as good as one could ever recieve. read more

Hubby and or other family and I visit here often for an economical and delicious breakfast. They usually have the t.v.s on for news, and local paper there for anyone's perusal. They have a great assortment of fresh donuts, muffins, cookies, sandwiches, salads and lots of other items in the showcase, as well as pop and juices. Staff are friendly and efficient. The customer service was mediocre, they sell tobacco which seemed odd, even myself as a smoker. I attempted to purchase tobacco and was hassled for over five minutes over my legitimate ID. The cashier lacked basic math skills, three different people looking at my ID later they handed me my smokes. Not happy. read more

i had stopped by to pickup a box of doughnuts and i was blown away. The little establishment was so welcoming, the planted real plants in the middle of the isle, the best part was the friendly staff that greeted me. The lady was so warm and pleasant, i told her i was here to buy some doughnuts for my son, as he was craving good doughnuts, not tim horton's though , okay Dad? as he put it. This place doesn't even deserve a star that's how absolutely shit it is. Went in for breakfast once and would never go back. Ordered our food and proceeded to wait 25 minutes, when I went back to check on the process I was given nothing but attitude and told they were busy and it be ready when it was ready (there were only 6 other people in the restaurant.) Finally after another 15 minutes out food came, out of three plates 2 were wrong. When this was pointed out the cook told us that we were wrong and that's what we had ordered but she would check with the other cook. We followed her back there and the other cook rolled her eyes that the order was wrong and proceeded to pick other food from the counter using no gloves and change our plates. I then decided I was not eating as it was disgusting and told her keep the food I was then given more attitude from the outrageously rude cooks. I spoke to the hostess, the only nice one there, and she called the manager who we spoke to about the service. While this happened the cook came out and started bitching to what I assume are regulars about how rude we were because she thought we had left. When I came out from the back she freaked and started screaming at the hostess for letting us back there even though the manager said too. All in all it was a disgusting experience I would never go back there again the place looked good up until you had to deal with the nasty cooling staff with zero customer service skills. read more
