Don't be fooled by the 3 star rating, The Donegal was renovated 6 months ago and the new owner and staff have done a fantastic job. It is not so much of an Irish pub but an Italian restaurant with an Irish decor on the outside.
My gf and I decided to check this place out because we arrived late from California at midnight and it was the closest place to our AirBNB. I was hesitant about the 3 star rating but It ended up being our favorite place in Rome.
Brando and the rest of the staff were so generous and nice to us and the food was amazing. We tried the octopus, the ribeye, the cheesy potato with sauerkraut, spaghetti, and the tiramisu and loved all of it.
In the three nights we were in Rome, we stopped here twice and planned on coming back once more before we left to thank everyone and say our farewells but got stuck in the Vatican.
Thank you to Brando, the Cuban who made one of the best mojitos I've ever had, the chef who made some of the best octopus I've ever had, and the rest of the staff who went above and beyond to give us a warm welcoming on our first and second nights in Rome. Grazie! read more
