Located on 6th street, this shop is your one stop shop for all things Idaho, handmade and incredibly special. You can find blown glass, textiles, soaps, lotions, chocolate, peanuts, ornaments, shave oils, cutting boards, games, mugs, vases, ornaments and so much more. Most of my favorite makers were there (think Ladybug Press, Sawtooth Glass Project, City Peanut Shop, All Spun Up, Sage Woolens, etc.) It felt like a holiday craft bazaar that is open year round and housing the very best products. I found the selection to be varied and affordable. You could find things for men, women, children, pets and even yourself! It bears repeating that you are paying for handcrafted, small-business wares. It is not going to have the same price tag as a manufactured good from a big box store. It will be a higher price tag. I like to think that I'm paying for a story. My purchased items contain all the love, hope, and hard work that each maker poured into their product. I love to give handmade stuff for gifts and I think they are appreciated a lot more than something I could ship from Amazon. The shop keepers were lovely. I think they are some of the makers, but it was so very busy when I went in that I didn't want to bog them down with conversation. If you are looking for special presents, this is the place to go. Enjoy all the treasures.

I shopped with a purpose as I was looking for some very specific items: a gift for a rock hound, a big basket that will serve as a container for a Christmas gift, jewelry (for me, of course), and some vintage Halloween décor. I found everything I was looking for. It was fun meandering among the various booths. The owners are knowledgeable about their collections and fun to talk to. One booth in particular had all kinds of holiday decorations...I mean, for EVERY holiday. So festive. They also had yummy treats such as caramel corn, nuts, and apples, and candy. The schedule for 2015-16 is as follows: October 31st - Nov. 1st January 9th - 10th February 20th - 21st April 9th - 10th Parking is ample and access to the facility is easy. The admission is $2.00. This was a nice way to both spend an autumn afternoon and find some unique gifts.

We ended up getting the cutest Toy for our dog that's a shape of Idaho holding a cute little potato and a few stickers for our truck. You need to check this store out in Downtown area if you are looking to pick up some gifts for friends or family the quality of the items is def great and not cheap. You can not not come out of this store empty handed. There are just too many goodies here. We came here after brunch today. Coming up to the store, they had a couple racks of beautiful succulents on display. I would have loved to purchase all of them but as simple it is to keeping succulents alive, I have a special talent for killing them. Walking into the store, you are immediately overwhelmed with all the little things everywhere! You don't even know where to being to look at but eventually you'll either go left or right. We made our way through this fun store. Mixed Greens is a big novelty store for adults! The store is filled with everything you can think of. I loved looking at nick nacks. Everything was just so prettily placed and delicately staged. From cooking utensils to hand held fishing grips to gemstones, it was hard not to touch everything. You can literally spend hours in this store and still miss something. We snagged a couple things for my mother in law for mother's day. It's nice knowing that her gifts didn't come from your everyday store. If you're looking for a unique gift or a treat for yourself, Mixed Greens is your go to joint to hit up. There's something for everyone in this store and it's great.

I love the set up, the vibe and all the unique things each vendor offers. I haven't been in since the new space was taken over. Oh my, it's overwhelming! But a good overwhelming. More to look at, more to appreciate and more being able to enjoy the beauty in old treasures. I knew I was in for a treat! You really have to start in one corner and work your way down the aisle. You don't want to miss anything. I started off in the original space. I love looking at all the old books, pink depression glass and furniture. I made my way down to each vendor to see what kind of beautiful pieces they had. Each space is unique and different with their own spin to it. I was on the search for something specific and of course when you're looking for something that you really want, you don't ever find it. It took me a little over an hour to go through this joint. It didn't feel like an hour had passed but it did. I breezed through out really fast honestly. I wanted to make it home before my husband did. I had to get dinner started. But if I had the extra time, I would have slowed down looking at everything. This place has literally everything you can find if you're looking for something old and vintage. The furniture pieces are stunning. Teacups galore! Beautiful photos. You name it, it's here. I'm looking forward to coming back soon when I'm not on a time crunch. I know there's some fantastic treasures waiting to come home with me.

The market runs from April-December every Saturday 9:30 am- 1:30 pm. The Grove Plaza is neighbored by the Boise Centre, ICCU Arena, and the BSU downtown campus. I live nearby, so I usually walk but there is both street parking and public garage parking nearby. Here you can find local produce (although, limited if you come later in the day), locally raised meats and fish, ceramics and other handmade products, and ready-made foods. I usually grab a mixed greens salad for $5, which lasts me the whole week. Something about these greens, they do last forever! I had a friend pick me up a bag while I was out of town (yes, I'm that addicted to this salad mix) and he actually bought twice as much as I usually do and they were still nice a crisp 1-2 weeks later! The microgreens here are great, and I love that you can get a mix of different microgreens in one container. There are also a few vendors that sell foods to snack on while you're shopping. My go-to is to grab a cup of coffee that's locally roasted, there's a spot that does have dairy alternatives along with flavored syrups that I love. The dumplings with the spicy momo sauce are the highlight of my Saturdays whenever I come here. If you're in Boise on a Saturday in April-Dec the Capital City Market is the spot to be. Highly recommend it, it's a Boise gem! Never too crowded but still a great spot to people and dog watch (Yes, dogs are allowed at this market)!!
