This was so much fun. Took my mom to be an audience member of a show, since she's a nurse practitioner, figured she'd love The Doctors. I RSVP'd on the website for tickets, turns out they were just starting to film Season 7, and I received a very quick reply offering tickets for all taping days in August. In the morning you get to tape 2 shows (back to back) and in the afternoon just 1. . . Those poor doctors in the cast, they've got a lot of "on-time" doing 3 shows a day - I was tired after two and I was just an audience member! They were doing giveaways and we each received a nice teeth whitening kit and a Soda Stream!
Doctors is very streamlined, you wait outside for about 10 min to speak to the Lady With The Clipboard, and once you're on the lot, it moves very quickly. Have coffee while you sign a liability release, and then you're inside. I've only been an audience member one other time (Wayne Brady's Let's Make a Deal) and that was not even fun: you wait in line on the lot for at least an hour or more, you must audition to be an audience member, so that's more getting in and out of trailers, and then once seated (finally) they do so many shoots and re-shoots of you laughing, applause, smiling, etc. Very janky set. The Doctors was extremely pleasant. They rarely have to do a re-shoot. And since the episodes are broken up into small clips, a re-shoot would only be that clip. No over-exuberant audience shots of laughing/sighing/applause/fakefakefake.
Plus Dr. Stork is hot, if you hadn't noticed, all the girls in the audience will let you know about it. (He got married to a pediatrician in 2012, calm down everybody.) Parking on the side streets is FREE. The gifts I received for being an audience member were valued over $500, I was a little flabbergasted. It was a marvelous day. If you want to play tourist, do the Doctors. read more
