My husband and I visited for a rare date night concert. The bartenders are prompt and remember what you order. They also make GREAT drinks and recommendations for new drinks to try. The venue is large, has plenty of bathroom stalls, and full bar. If by chance they don't have what they need to make your drink, it's a short walk to main bar, and they give you a traveler cup to take. Personally, i would prefer some places to sit in the venue. Standing for a few hours isn't very comfortable. Having said that, the concert we went to wasn't sit down and chill kind of music. Nice place for date night drinks. We didn't try any items from menu. I feel like they could advertise the bands coming a little better. We had no idea Limp Bizkit were coming until after they played and had a friend tell us they went! Had we known..totally would have been there. I would recommend the district to anyone wanting good drinks, service, and a fun evening out! read more

I came here for NYE and we all purchased the VIP package. The VIP package included all drinks were free and you got free appetizers. By the time we got there the appetizers were gone but to be completely honest we didn't care we bought it for the drinks. I was surprised by how nice it really was, you could get Titos and red bull (real red bull out of the can) most places I've been to are extremely strict on when it comes to "free" drinks so that was really nice we could basically have anything we wanted except for shots which your drinking for free do you really need those shots? As long as they keep this I think we will make this a NYE tradition! read more

Bad service and bad food. It took us nearly 2 hours to get our food and by the time it came it was cold and the order wasn't even right. We still had to pay full-price and didn't even get so much as an apology. What a joke. read more

I went there for Easter brunch with my family and I was not impressed. We had reservations for 1pm and we were seated around 1:20pm. We were expecting to sit in the seating area that was in the main building with the natural lighting and booths or tables. We were seated in the concert/event hall that has black walls and floor with several other round tables that made it seem very impersonal and it was close seating. The buffet was (I think) $15.99 and I was not very satisfied with it. I am a vegetarian and it it not that hard to eat at buffets. I had eggs, bread and salads. It was definitely not worth the price. I think they could have served a little bit more of a selection than most food items with meat in it. We talked to the manager and he was not very nice in our conversation and his sarcasm was not helpful either. I wont be going there for brunch anytime soon. read more

Brand new in Sioux Falls. My husband and I went on Wednesday night at about 6pm. Friends had been raving, so we thought we'd give it a try. We must have come at the perfect time because we had a parking spot right by the door and there was no wait for a table for two. By the time we left, and hour later, the entire place was PACKED with a crowd that must have been going to an event in the entertainment section. We ate in the Wood Fire Grill section. The menu has lots of choices, some more expensive than others. We had to ask for the wine list. There is an extensive choice of mixed drinks which are offered at the bar and in The Lounge. There are several pasta dishes, all of which are gluten free. Great to see that on the menu! I asked what type of noodles they had: acorn, bean thread, rice, buckwheat or kelp. The server thought that by "type" I meant linguini, penne, spaghetti, etc. I tried to explain, but she still had no idea. But, since The District does not offer traditional wheat based noodles, I trusted that they knew what they were doing. I ordered Chicken Parmesan with a pomodoro sauce. The chicken was cooked in the wood fire oven. Presentation of my dish was okay. However, the taste was terrible. Since when does pomodoro sauce have dried red pepper flakes? The menu did not indicate that the dish would be spicy. Anybody who knows pomodoro would have been offended, it was so spicy that I could not eat it. The menu said "shaved Parmesan" and fresh basil. My dish did not have any parmesan, the "basil" was parsley in my dish. The noodles were most likely rice noodles and were over cooked. The chicken looked like it had been wood fired, it had the mandatory blackened grill marks. Sadly it was also over cooked to the point of tough and dry. Why is grilled chicken served with a steak knife? Even that was not sufficient to cut the chicken! My husband ordered the Po' Boy sandwich with coleslaw. "Meh" is what he said about the sandwich. He also thought that it was too much bread and not enough Po! The coleslaw was "fine". The atmosphere was interesting. When we arrived the Wood Fire Grill was filling up. The Lounge was empty and there were about five people at the huge bar. The decor looks very much like Kra'vn in Sioux Falls...I think the same designer did both places. Cement floors and high ceilings made for a very noisy place once it began to fill up. When the music began in the entertainment section it really pounded through the entire Grill section. It was pretty loud. When we left it was so full we had to squeeze by people to get out the door. Evidently the "Hairball" concert was sold out and everyone with a ticket was at the bar or waiting in line to go in to the concert. (There were quite a few people who were dressed for the concert....looked like a Halloween party!) Maybe if you go to the Wood Fire Grill at a time when Hairball is not playing you'll have a better experience than I did. read more

Stopped by the district for lunch on Mother's Day. The service was poor. Appeared that they had moved a bus girl to a waitress whom knew nothing about service! Had the Buffett which was average at best. Some of the food was like warm. Paper products were used on either the desert bar or the salad. No class with that move. Stopped by the Wood Fire Grill on the 29th of Jan 2014 @ 1:15pm for lunch with my wife. The place was for the most part deserted and we had our pick of seating - we chose the bench seats around the bar - which were cozy and clean. Service was prompt, courteous and our drinks were brought very quickly, the food was obviously not sitting under a heat lamp as it took a while for it to come out. I chose the wood fire burger which was a decent size and very tasty. The waffle style fries were plentiful, crunchy and lightly salted. My wife's 6oz sirloin was a little on the small side, cooked to order (well) and was very juicy. Her only disappointment was the sides.....although she enjoyed the brococcilini (three spears)...she was not enamored with the mashed potatoes and wished she had more options (rice, fries, bread, ect, ect - non were presented). I think she has gotten used to the fast food steak house side options presented and thus thought they were pretty standard fare for restaurants in town.......not for the Wood Fire Grill. I cant speak for the Dinner menu as I have not eaten there yet.....the Lunch menu was a little on thin side. If the intent is to capture a lunch crowd they are going to need to expand their menu significantly. However, the drink menu was on the opposite spectrum.... almost to many to choose from....but that was ok......it is a Bar/Lounge and I think this is the major revenue generator. All and All a good atmosphere to enjoy a quite lunch, with prices that were on the Med - High Side.....but its always good to get out and try new places.......I am curious about the Dinner Menu......so we will be back. read more

Rude service. The hosts had no idea what they were doing. The waiter rushed us the whole time, he never asked how things were, we had to flag him down for drinks, and he was insulting when he took our orders. The drinks and appetizers were tasty but the entrees were bland and unimpressive for the price. Would not recommend and will never go back. It was clear their service staff was a bunch of high-schoolers who needed training in how to work in the hospitality industry. read more

My friend and I went to a concert there for the first time. The place was very nice and set up beautifully. Our first request was to get a couple of drinks. We were surprised that two small cups of beer cost ten dollars, plus having too tip it was twelve dollars. We both laughed about it, and said, "I guess we are not having a few drinks here!". Obviously the bar believes that the economy is so wonderful that people can afford that. We then go listen to music. I like to get up close and be a part of the action, and was surprised that security was just standing in the middle of the crowd. They pull a few people for things I understand, but don't agree with. After they would spotlight someone in the crowd they would then stand there and watch them for ten min or so. That put the mood of everyone around them in a negative tone. I remember thinking, are they allowed to just stand there in the middle of the crowd?! Maybe so, but I've been to dozens, maybe even a hundred concerts and I have never seen that. I like to let loose and have fun at a show, but the constant feeling of a chaperone, and WAY TOO HIGH of drink prices killed the mood. Sorry district, but you fail. read more

I went to the Used concert a couple months back and thought it was awesome!! However came in tonight to have a beer with a buddy before heading home and she got refunded money and kicked out. She previously worked there and quit and apparently is not allowed to return for 180 days... last i checked we were paying customers and i did not appreciate having to waste a beer and 5 dollars of my hard earned money because of bitterness toward ex employees. The manager came up and refunded her beer but not mine. Obviously i wasnt staying considering my ride got booted out!! Thanks for the wasted beer and ruining my night. I will not be returning and will be promoting the event center over you every chance i get!! read more

Disappointing. Don't get me wrong, I was so excited to have a decent concert venue for SF - but they just can't seem to get there shit together. Music sounds great - but the bar service is laughable. I've been here for multiple shows including one last night and they didn't have nearly enough bartenders. We waited in line for drinks for over 25 minutes, just to order from a very limited selection (mostly domestic brews). The only silver lining? We didn't go back for a second round, so we saved money. read more

I had the chicken cesar wrap. I would expect full pieces of check breast to be used. Guess again! It appears they used canned chicken and it was awful. It was a work luncheon or I would not have accepted such salty, horrible food. They should spend more time on the food instead of the atmosphere, which is better, but that isn't saying much. Great service, good atmosphere. I have eaten here once, and I remember that it was pretty good. That is NOT the case with the brunch. It was the worst food I have had in years. Nothing was warm, but I don't think it would have helped ,even if it was warm. Most things were bland. I saw prime rib on the menu, so I was excited. I shouldn't have been. It tasted like it was soaked in teriyaki, and candidly, it was vile. I literally spit it out. My fiancee said tye coffee was excellent, but other than that, the nicest way I can describe it is to say "it was food". read more

This place is the worst! Came into town to see a concert so we thought we would try out the restaurant. There was a 10 minute wait to get a table, which ended up being 20 minutes. Not a big deal but there were many open tables, so I was wondering why we had to wait. I heard the hostess explain that they did not have enough servers to take care of all the tables. You have 4 events a month at the venue, you would think they would know it would be busy. Once we were seated, we ordered 10 minutes later. After that we waited a good hour before we actually got our food. When we finally got our food the pizza tasted like it was sitting under a heat lamp for about an hour, and my hamburger was charred on the outside. Both were pretty much terrible. The waitress was nice, and I felt sorry for her. Obviously the management at this place have there heads way up there a$$. And whatever the kitchen problem was, who knows. If I could give this place negative 75 stars I would. I told our waitress she needs to find another place to work, because this place is a joke! Never again! read more

This was my first time at The District. My husband bought me 3 VIP tickets for Christina Perri. I was so excited to go. When we arrived the VIP door was locked even though it was after 5 when VIP can get in.....one of the attendnats saw us standing there and ignored us. So after a few minutes I finally knocked on the door. They finally opened it and asked for the tickets which I gave to them. They were extremely rude from the second we stepped in. We go in and ask where we should go and the lady answers if you want to drink I need your ID. Ok so we get our bracelet showing we are over 21 and ask again where the VIP lounge is. We were told in the back up the stairs. So we head up there and are instantly disappointed. There are a few tables and chairs with a bar and then nothing.........you have to stand in the VIP area too and since you are above the stage unless you are up against the guard rail can see absolutely nothing. They say you get all these perks with the VIP tickets....what a joke. First the wait at the bar was longer there than downstairs and the beer on the right side wall was the ONLY cold beer there. We ended up going down to the general admission area so we could at least see something. We did eat there and the food was good, but again terrible service. It was not crazy busy and yet we could not get the attention of the servers. I can honestly say I will NEVER buy VIP tickets for there again or probably ever go back. read more

Bait and hook restaurant. A week prior to Thanksgiving 2015 I was searching restaurants that were going to be open Thanksgiving 2015. Saw "The District" was going to be open and serving buffet on Thanksgiving 2015 so I viewed their online menu for that day. Their online menu said they were going to be serving prime rib and alfredo plus other items. I booked reservations for a party of four that same day for Thanksgiving 2015. Morning of Thanksgiving 2015 I reviewed "The District" online menu again and their online menu had changed. No prime rib or alfredo. When we arrived at "The District" Thanksgiving day 2015 my daughter showed our waitress the online menu I booked reservations from including the part that said prime rib and alfredo was going to be served from her smartphone. Our waitress said she would talk to the chef. A little while later a guy came to our table stating that online menu was for Thanksgiving 2014. I asked how could that be when I clicked their homepage link stating what their Thanksgiving 2015 online menu would be. The guy said they hadn't updated their link yet. This ended with our party of four just getting up and leaving without eating. Because of this none of our party of four will ever take a foot inside "The District" again. read more
