Had 1 pool table, a couple slots, and dartboards. I noticed an outdoor patio/smoking area. Bar was only maybe, 8 people long? 10 if you squished. We hung out at a table; the bar was shoulder-to-shoulder full. Bartender came over and waited on us. That was nice. I expected to go to the counter. She was very kind, quick, and attentive. Never caught her name but loved her blue hair! I could tell the rest of the bar was full of regulars and we felt a little out of place. But, it's a tiny bar on a Sunday night. We almost witnessed a fight! And a patron had to be cut off and he somehow didn't fall as he was leaving. I pray he didn't drive. More than 1 person complimented my husband's beard. Was a tad bit awkward. LoL He used the bathrooms and he said it was fine. Prices were good. I noticed they had a lot of specials and happy hours. Didn't love it. Didn't hate it. Gave it 3 stars because I wasn't disappointed nor was I blown away. Neutral rating for a neutral experience. Beware of pot holes in the parking lot.

The ambience was fun being in a bar where there was locals having a good time. A 50th birthday party in a band along with a party bus stopping in with a group of people everyone was happy and it was a wonderful evening. Entry was through a group of smokers located just outside the front door. I noticed a pool table, several casino machines, TVs, an electronic juke box, a dart board and background music (not too loud). The drinks were moderately priced, but served in small, plastic cups by an accommodating bartender who was also drinking. There is plenty of natural light. The music is good. The ambiance clean & fresh without feeling sterile/ generic or uninviting. The staff know their products & the selections are solid. The cheeky brew based on the 1 star review shows the playful side, despite the pettiness. Perhaps, that's the key to seeing Severance into my memory. Of course, we purchased cooler beers this time... soon to be couch beers or camping beers.

We both love old historical museums, and this turned out to be one of the nicest surprises we've had since making South Dakota our home. The courthouse itself is beautifully restored. The architecture alone is worth the visit. Walking through the building really gives you an appreciation for the craftsmanship of another era. One thing that especially fascinated me were the old architectural drawings on display. It honestly amazed me to think that all of those detailed designs were created entirely by hand without computers or modern drafting programs. The amount of patience and talent required must have been incredible. The museum gives a wonderful glimpse into the early history of Sioux Falls and how different life once was here. Looking through the exhibits, furnishings, photographs, and displays made me reflect on how much simpler life must have seemed back then, even though I know it certainly had its own hardships. As newer residents of Sioux Falls, it also helped us feel more connected to the city we now call home. Sometimes when you move somewhere new, you know the streets and stores first, but not the story underneath them. This museum helped fill in some of those gaps for us. We also wound up spending far too much time in the gift shop and left with quite a few souvenirs. Mostly though, I just enjoyed spending the afternoon strolling through the museum with my honey, learning a little more about the history of the community we've become a part of. It made for a very peaceful and memorable Mother's Day.
