Going to a movie here has become a tradition for our family when we're home for holidays. We enjoy the control of picking our seats out in advance, and love that they have nice leather reclining seats. We also love that they do their own fun version of "previews" before the actual previews start - funny video clips, related snippets to the movie, etc. It's so personalized and fun! But what we love most isn't the movies at all. It's not even the chairs. IT'S THE GRAVY. Yes, you read that right. They make this pepper gravy that is simply out of this world. My family and I exclusively order the chicken tenders and fries as a mere vehicle for this deliciousness. Oh, and ask for double gravy - you'll need it. For my true Midwesterners: they have perfect "runny restaurant ranch" too! And their fries are divine. I'm sure other things on their menu are good too - we've been recommended their breakfast pizza (it has that gravy as the sauce) and chicken sandwich (again, with gravy as the dipping sauce) so we may branch out soon. We like their drinks too - we've had good cocktails and my brother and dad like their beers! The service is great - they take orders before the movie/during previews and get it out fast so the food/drink service doesn't disrupt the movie watching. IF you are trying to put together a group of less than 10 you cant utilize their offered company team building . I was informed there would have to be exceptions made to make it work. Once we figured out what would work for us we did 3 smaller groups in the middle of the week in the middle of the day. The atmosphere is loud. Even with no one else really in there. The waitress was fantastic with my group. I explained what we were doing and order the meal and play with play cards for our group. She talked me through what she was going to do and helped make sure it worked out alright. Hang onto your D&B cards, they can be reloaded. You will have to pay a small fee to reload, but no as much if you have reactivate a new card. There are some really big games. You can win "tickets" of course. I thought the place was bigger, but the gaming area is half and the eating/bar is on the other. Circling back on the food. That was a shock. It was really good. Far better than I had thought. I got the burger and was pleasantly full. Everyone in our group of 7 enjoyed their meals. Everyone left happy and full. Again my waitress was very helpful and accommodating. Mullets in Uptown Ankeny is a relatively new business in the uptown area. They are right off of the High Trestle Trail and provide plenty of parking for cars and bikes. They have a very nice main bar on the first floor and ample comfortable seating at the bar and at tables. But they also have a full bar and expansive rooftop dining area. And on a day like the one we had, it was picture perfect! You can get to the roof by stairs or elevator! Big bonus. The rooftop has nice views of the downtown area, and plenty of seating in or out of the sun. We were seated quickly upon arrival and greeted by our waitress within minutes with ice waters. We quickly ordered Bloody Marys, which are a house recipe ($9). They are plain but flavorful. I like mine spicy, so I asked for Tabasco - the waitress had to go on an excursion but didn't give up until she got it for me! (Thank you!) We finally found the breakfast menu (not pictured), which is a ridiculously difficult thing to navigate, because my desire and my inclination was to just order one of everything! (I guess we will have to keep coming back). We finally narrowed it down to the Cinnamon Swirl Pancakes and the Eggs Benedict Flight. We were not disappointed.
