A+ fun! The entire experience was fun and exciting. From the beginning you are on the case, poking for clues and meeting new people. Each of the acts is overly cheesy but make the experience that much more enjoyable. The food is standard hotel banquet food, you pay for the experience not the food. It it good but nothing to get too excited for. My party paid for the suspect experience and it was well worth every penny. We all had a fun time and have talked about doing it again with another show. read more

Well, those who know me know how much I love this stuff. I was extremely eager to participate and went in ready for fun. It mostly didn't disappoint. I got the tix on Groupon, thinking I got a great deal. Well... turns out it wasn't THAT great. I think I paid $52 when the regular priced tix are $57. If I recall correctly, Groupon overstated the original price. shysters. The description said 4-course plated meal, but it was only three... unless you count rolls. The description stated there'd be a mingling interrogation session with passed hors d'oeuvres, but that was not my experience. Granted, we entered a bit late because the cash bar in the event room required a visit to the ATM... which happened to be broken... requiring instead that we order drinks from the hotel bar... which took a bit of time and resulted in coming in probably 10 minutes late. However, we mingled for a good 30, during which time no appetizer trays passed through my field of sight, nor were any remnants of such observed in the hands or on the tables scattered about the room. Truly, if hors d'oeuvres occurred, they did so in scanty fashion. Back to the bar... $19 for a glass of wine?! (Sure, it was the 9oz pour, but still!) That's pretty spendy I think. And having to leave the room for a drink was super lame. Fix that ATM, guys! As for the food - the portions were rather modest... a half-cup of salad, a literal dollop of mashed potatoes, and four thick asparagi with the average-portioned fish or chicken breast. But it was all tasty, and I didn't walk away hungry (if only cuz my escort prompted the server for extra rolls!). The show was enjoyable, a goofball comedy sort of fashion, and the acting was fun and charismatic. Although, I was surprised how minimally the guests were involved. All story roles were actors, with a few guests called upon if they paid for the special-attention package. The storyline was challenging enough that there weren't a ton of obvious giveaways, but not too difficult to actually figure out if you thought about it... which I did... and I guessed right (*gloat). The prize package was your run-of-the-mill souvenir paraphernalia (a Dinner Detective T-shirt and so on) and included a free ticket to another show. I'm totally goin again, cuz I love this kinda stuff. read more

My friends and I attended the "Dirty Money" show and had a blast. The jokes were silly and funny, the actors gave it their all, and the mystery itself was intriguing. The mystery was solvable if you thought about all the clues that have been presented, which was appreciated. The host, Mark, did an excellent job: He was enthusiastic, enunciated loudly for the entire room, and was a good sport overall. We look forward to attending another Dinner Detective show. read more

Made some good friends and memories but most importantly the experience was amazing! The actors were top notch and seemed very passionate about doing their job. What a fantastic experience! This was the perfect blend of really cheesy and professional; exactly what I'd want from a murder mystery dinner in a hotel ballroom. The actors blended into the crowd well. One of the final victims was a guest at our table the whole time and none of us suspected until close to the end. The clues were useful and not too convoluted. The mystery seemed accessible rather than too difficult or frustrating. All told, the evening was close to three hours, but it didn't feel long or poorly-paced. If this rating were about the food alone, I'd give it lower -- it's hotel banquet food, so temper your expectations. The cash bar is very overpriced and the lines are long, so perhaps enjoy a beverage beforehand at home. But the servers were attentive and everyone at my table enjoyed the experience. A note for introverts: this experience really is better the more you're willing to chat and be involved. You don't have to mingle much if you're not comfortable, but the evening might not be as much fun. We can't wait to go back for another script in the future! read more

My sister's and I enjoyed an evening during our Murder mystery dinner. The crowd interaction was tons of fun. the actors were wonderful and often hilarious. They hid the murderer well, as out of about 100 people I was the only to guess who it was correct. The server's were on top of everything and cleared empty plates quickly. The only reason I'm giving 4 starts actually has nothing to do with the actors or the show it self. I was a bit disappointed that when signing up the give an option for allergy alternative's. Stating " Our venues and their kitchens are able to accommodate allergies and illnesses, such as gluten free." As I'm gluten free we made sure to put that down for my plate. They did give me a grilled chicken instead of breaded, and possibly a different sauce (as it seemed thinner.) But I was sad that I didn't get an alternative for an appetizer, bread, or dessert. My server said- or your gluten free, let me try to find you something and brought out a bowl of fruit. Paying the same price as everyone else, and only eating half of what was served-was a bit disappointing. read more

Went with my wife and another couple. While the show was entertaining, the story line was a little convoluted and confusing. I have never been to a "murder mystery", so maybe that's just the way they are? Maybe we're just not murder mystery people? Could be... The food was your basic hotel conference fair. Not great, not horrible. If your going for a gourmet meal, this is not it. We did enjoy the acting. The actors were very passionate, and energetic. You can tell they really enjoy performing. We might give it another shot and see if maybe we just got a bad story night. read more

The only thing I can really critique is the food. It it what you should expect for a hotel serving many portions of the same item. However, the show was great. Highly interactive so be prepared to actually communicate with your table-mates! The actors were great and the storyline along with the impromptu was awesome! I would give 5 stars if the grub was more interesting and the drinks more reasonably priced. Overall though, it was FANTASTIC. We went for a friends birthday and I was asked to participate even though we didn't pay to play (I thought I did OKAY!). People were nice, actors were talented and cool, and our party had a great time. I would go again and recommend it to others. But I must express a pet peeve of mine, and coming from the restaurant biz, I think I can safely say what I'm about to say... If you want OKAY food, I think the chicken dinner at the Marriott fits that bill. I mean, it was edible and the zucchini wasn't overcooked (I hate that!). But why-o, why-o, why-o, can't food be a little more tasty? I hit the salt 3 times, and I don't normally salt. I know plating a large# of guests is always an issue, but I could really go for a banquet dinner that can be a little more ordinary, but off the charts delicious. I have suggestions.
