I purchased my first home from Derrick in Buffalo 2017 and did not see any of the charter traits mentioned by Andrea T's review of 1 star. My wife and I were new at the home buying process (first home) and if anything, Derrick took extreme time in helping us understand things like inspections and mortgages that would work for us. There were some issues that came up with the home we were buying with the appraisal. Derrick spoke with us about what it meant, and options to fix it. In the end he fixed it and made it right so we could close even though it was actually the sellers side that caused the issue. Since we bought, I have referred him to many friends and even my sister who moved here from Idaho and bought a house in Buffalo in 2019. I read Andreas post and had to reply/comment. It seems by reading her post she actually didn't even work with Derrick directly at all. She mentions she was the buyer and she had her own agent (not Derrick) that was telling her things... hhmmm? I can say I worked DIRECTLY with him, my sister worked directly with him and I have at least 3 friends that have as well and all of us would highly recommend him again. The service was great and he even checks in from time to time still today to see how things are going, great guy. To bad people are allowed to make reviews when they had no direct contact. My husband and I relocated to Maple Grove from Iowa in 2019 to be closer to family. Prior to our move here we have had 3 other moves, 2 of which were new construction homes so we have had experience with the processes. Derricks name was given to us by our daughter who had worked with him several years ago on her condo. We came into town for a week to look at homes. Derrick scheduled ones we wanted to see and some he thought we might like based on our talks before coming to town. In the end we decided to build new with a builder we met through him. The one thing that really stood out working with him was his attention to the details. Building meant we had an electrical meeting to pick out spots for outlets etc. design meeting to choose interior finishes etc. and he met us at all of them to make sure we were comfortable. Although we have built before it was nice to have someone make sure at each step we were happy with what was going on and understood all the options. We were moving from Brooklyn Park to Rockford and asked on a local community FB page who was recommended in the area and his name was popular. We looked at several existing homes but ultimately ended up purchasing new construction. This would be our 3rd home, 1st with Derrick and his team and compared to previous experiences he was great to deal with. I think the biggest thing we enjoyed was how informed he was of the building process and although we have built one time prior he pointed out things we would have never thought of that allowed us to make even better choices as we went through the process. I will say I know Derrick on a friend level as well for full disclosure but I have also used him 3 times to sell and buy as well as my brother, sister and a few friends of mine and none of them have nothing but great things to say. He is a very dedicated Realtor and business person who has a great following of clients based on "results" and not just empty promises. I know when we sold he used the web and technology like it was second nature and with the web being such a big part of today's world it really got our homes out there. Derrick & his team have been a game changer for us. We used him in 2017 when we relocated to Iowa then again in 2024 when we moved back. Relocating is hard as many of our showings need to be done virtually and making decisions not on site isn't easy. Derrick made himself very available with our hectic schedule with video tours and sent us all the details about each neighborhood since we were not 100% knowledgeable coming from another state.
