When I asked their answer was that it is just routine practice, and if I go against their routine practice( not let them do what they want) I should go some place else; however, this unnecessary radiation exposure to my children and Bluffdale Dental routine practice should had been explained to us before it was done to my children and not after the fact. I also asked how often children gets panoramic x-ray the doctor said about every 5 years ( assistant said every 3 to 5 years) then I asked if they had requested dental records to see last time it was done since my children are new to them( their first visit) they said NO! this is so unacceptable! what if the other dentist got this done recently; Bluffdale dental did not care enough to know this information to protect my children against unnecessary radiation exposure which can be harmful to their health. Not a sincere apology or any effort to understand the client's point of view. I am devastated. As far as the visit went my children were very impressed with how well the staff treated them.

When I showed up to my appointment I was met by Dr. Proctor who was apparently a few years out of dental school. I had to laugh and I explained to him I asked for the seasoned dentist upfront due to my fear of all things dentistry and wished us both luck. He was AWESOME! His personality is hilarious. He would joke when I needed a joke. Made me feel comfortable from minute one. We are many appointments, fillings and crowns in and he is still my all time favorite dentist and I've had many in my nearly sixty years. My permanent crown today went on so perfectly I was in and out in no time . Thank you Taylor for assisting ,you were great too. I'm so happy I just had to leave a review! That should be enough said, but I can't help but rebut the one negative review. That was obviously a case of a mom and teenager who don't communicate well. The way I see it, they must have trusted him to do what was needed and then didn't want to pay for the work that had been done. He's honest, prices are fair, and he won't try to sell you a mouthfull of dentistry like most other dentists. He's extremely competent, diligent and caring. His injections are painless. It's all in the technique!!! He explains all you need to know, maybe more than you need to know, but I find that comforting to understand how much thought he puts into what he does and why he's doing it. Very few dentists care that much or take the time. Just because a dentist graduates dental school and passes the board exam doesn't mean he or she is all that good. I've seen plenty of mediocre dentistry and careless dentists in my day. Dr. Gatrell is a cut above the rest!

She did not want another permanent retainer placed, but she is a teenager that is too timid to speak up. She didn't know what to say once she was in the chair. The response I got when I voiced my concern about them doing a procedure without my informed consent was that they would bill insurance. Well, insurance didn't cover it. Called again after getting the surprise bill and said it was unethical to bill me for something I did not consent to on my underage child. Jamie's response was there was nothing she could do beyond taking $25 off (um... you're a privately owned office that determines your prices). She then told me there was a breakdown in communication as my daughter had been making her own appointments and bringing herself. Well, the breakdown in communication falls on Dr Gatrell and his staff. They should have contacted me to discuss what they were wanting to do and if it was okay. Again, informed consent. Instead, when she contacted me to schedule the appointment she said, "I need to schedule the 3 of you for a cleaning." How was I suppose to glean from that that only my son and I were getting the cleaning covered by insurance and my daughter was getting a $100 retainer placed? Should I not have gotten a paper with a quote, because I never did? There are still honest dentists out there, this office isn't one of them. Keep looking. Terrible customer service and unethical patient care.

My front cap had fallen out , in fact it had broken off under the gum. ( I had recently had it put in by another dentist and the cap never sat correctly ) After discussing with Dr. Wells my options it was decided to have a implant placed, but it was a front tooth! How was I to work without it? Dr. Wells called another office he works alot with, told them the situation and was able to get me in to see them right away. I now have a beautiful temporary implant and when it's completely healed Dr. Wells will place my permanent cap. Thanks to him I was seen quickly and able to get a solution to my problem solved. Without him seeing me quickly and referring me to his friends at Redwood Peridontics I don't know where I'd be. Can't wait to return to Dr. Wells to finish the work. I found my dentist. As luck would have it, an appointment was available to get my son in within a few days. The entire staff was professional and friendly-and made sure to explain everything they were doing while treating us like we were VIPs. I bet they treat everyone like that, but we sure felt special. I had a really disappointing experience with this office. I came in with clear concerns about my…read morebite and ongoing pain, and instead of being taken seriously, I felt completely dismissed. After a recent procedure, I could immediately tell something was off with my bite -- one side was hitting first and causing noticeable pressure and discomfort. I also started experiencing significant symptoms including headaches and what felt like migraine-type pain, which was very unusual for me. I brought this up and even went back for two follow-up visits, but my concerns were essentially brushed off each time. At my last appointment, I was told to just wait two weeks and that it would "fix itself," which was very frustrating given how uncomfortable I was. I ended up seeking a second opinion, where another dentist found that both the new filling and crown were extremely high. He spent about 30 minutes carefully adjusting my bite and explained that there was no way it would have corrected on its own. Almost immediately after the adjustment, my symptoms -- including the migraine-like headaches -- significantly improved and even resolved, which confirmed that something was wrong all along. It was upsetting to feel dismissed multiple times when something was clearly off. Being heard matters, especially when it comes to dental work that affects your bite, comfort, and overall health. I wish more time and care had been taken to listen and properly evaluate the issue instead of dismissing it.

Dentist initially told me I'd need to see their endodontist who only comes in part time, but after doing my "pulpectomy to get me out of pain", the dentist told me that he "had basically done all the work already, and he might as well finish it up for me and save me money and time"... however even after 2 courses of antibiotics I was still hurting up until we finally put the crown on in April, almost 4 months later at this point. I even mentioned to the dentist that, previously, I had had a root canal done here and they had missed a canal, and I was worried this was the case as I was still in pain. Dentist assured me he got everything, put the crown on, and sent me on my way. Tooth continued to hurt. I called in May and they told me to give it more time. Finally went to see a different dentist and of June, who immediately sent me to an endodontist, as I was STILL in pain. Endodontist has confirmed that the dentist missed a canal, and the infection is now so bad that we've had to change antibiotics already just trying to get it under control. Endodontist informed me that static x rays do not show the entire picture, which is all this dentist office uses, and is likely part of how this canal got missed. So now, after 7 months of pain, I'm having to pay to have a second root canal done on this same tooth.... So not only did he not save me money or time, I'm instead having to pay double, the infection is possibly down into my bone, and the pain has been absolutely unreal. Please don't trust this business with anything more than cleanings. Edit: it looks like I will likely lose my tooth even after this second root canal, as the infection was down to the bone and had been left to fester for too long. So now after 7 months of pain and paying for multiple root canals on the same tooth, I'll be without a molar.
