Dr. Vlad has a state of the art office with the best technology. Got a fully colorized 3D mouth scan, received painless X-rays, high def before and after pictures, got a detailed treatment plan for fixing old fillings and chipped teeth. My much needed teeth cleaning was wonderful and painless!!! While you're getting treatment, you're sitting in a massage chairs and watching Netflix on the 43" TV above you! Very kind and professional staff. Attention to detail was everywhere. Also appreciated the overall feel. The office felt clean and hygienic, yet very comfortable, with lots of little amenities. Vlad is very honest, very open, very knowledgeable, and very compassionate with your needs. His passion is dental care, and you can tell he is a lifelong student who is always learning from books and other experts in the field. Teeth whitening was amazing. Immediate difference. Loved the scan of my teeth. You can see every detail, every chip, every worn molar, every pressure point, every gap. This is extremely helpful when he's reviewing dental care. He can point out the visible effects of brushing too hard, of acid reflux and its effect on molars, on grinding teeth, on not flossing properly. I've never had such an experience. Don't get the Botox Groupon because it's probably watered down. I got the same amount of units I always get and it hasn't lasted, and didn't freeze up one of my forehead lines. It was a really nice place and I liked the staff and doctor but yeah I guess I won't trust Groupons anymore. read more

It started when I walked into the office & greeted by Addy. I did not wait long before Dr. Marissa came in the room. Not only did she diagnose & eliminate the pain but did so by showing me why I had the pain through x-rays shown on a TV. Had a lot of issues with my teeth over the years and this is the most positive experience I've had at the dentist. Dr. Marisa and the entire staff are very thorough and knowledgable. A crown came off recently and they were able to squeeze me in the next day to correct it. Additionally, I mentioned I was having jaw pain from clenching using my old night guard. They were able to get me fitted for a night guard that stopped the pain from both clenching and grinding. Highly recommend read more

So I hate writing negative reviews for good businesses, but . . . . I will start by saying this was my third visit to The Dental Standard for Botox, and Dr. Vlad is really great - he has an excellent bedside manner and really takes a lot of time to figure out where to place the Botox and how many units to use (seems to pay more attention to these details than other providers I've seen in the past). I will continue to patronize this business because I really like Dr. Vlad and because the Botox prices are unbeatable, and there is also usually free parking. However, today I had a very annoying and negative experience with the new "receptionist" whose name I believe is David. I walked in the door at 10:15 for a 10:20 appointment and he was on the phone. He didn't say anything to me, so after a minute or two, I assumed he was on the line with another patient, and I walked into the lobby to wait for him to hang up and check me in. After 10 minutes (it was now 10:25), he was literally still on the phone and talking quietly, the way people do when they're on personal calls. No one has come out to take me back, so I finally interrupt him and say, "Excuse me, do I need to check in?" Without hanging up the phone, he starts looking through various screens on his computer (I hear him say to the person on the line, "I have some patients who have come in"), but after several minutes of looking, nothing is happening and he says he can't find the appointment. So I ask if he can just tell the doctor I'm here. He says ok but still keeps looking through screens for another minute or more . . . things are starting to feel really surreal at this point. I ask him again if he can just please tell the doctor I'm here, and he finally goes back and does so, and a couple minutes later the dental assistant comes to get me (I think I finally sat down in the chair at 10:35). Turns out my appointment wasn't in their system, which explains why David couldn't find it, but they were good enough to fit me in, and everything went as expected with the appointment itself. When it's time to check out and pay, the dental assistant tells David how many units they gave me but David is still on the phone with whomever he's been talking to the whole time (my guess is he's a student and he's talking to an instructor or something along those lines), and he starts looking at screens again. I give him a minute and nothing is happening and he's not asking for my credit card or giving me a total, and again I hear him tell the person on the other line that a patient is here but the other person seems to keep talking and David doesn't interrupt or put the phone down, so I start walking into the lobby and toward the front door. David is still doing something with the phone on his ear--I can't tell if he's helping me or if he's focused on his phone call, so I open the door thinking I can just call in my payment later and save time. Once I have the door half open, he actually indicates he's ready for payment and I ask him if the total is correct, he confirms, takes my card, writes down the number, and says I'm all set. The whole experience was so bizarre--I felt like I was living in an alternate reality and I truly wondered if the doctors were aware of what their "receptionist" was really doing or what was going on. This guy needs to be let go and replaced with someone who is actually greeting patients and promptly checking them in and out--it certainly isn't rocket science and it's generally not a busy office when I've been there. If it weren't for this experience, I would have given 5 starts (and hopefully will be able to update my review in the future to reflect an improvement). read more

Every other provider wants to just get as many people through the door as possible, and therefore, the quality of care precipitously declines. Vlad is a perfectionist, and will go to great lengths to make sure you are taken care of at an unprecedented level. Don't Go Here. Unless You Want To Experience Unbelievable. I don't do many reviews; however, my experience at The Dental Standard Chicago was unbelievable. Yes, it sounds crazy! Going to a dentist was an "unbelievable" experience? Well, it was! First, I am swamped, and the ease and efficiency of scheduling my first appointment via their website and patient portal is much appreciated. The staff immediately followed up with appointment confirmation. Upon arrival, I immediately felt warmth, energy, an extreme focus on patient experience and service. The staff's sense of humor was fantastic. My experience doesn't begin to compare to any other dental practice I have experienced in my life. The office is beautifully decorated. In fact, I had to remind myself that I was at the dentist. The experience just kept getting better and better. Once in the operatory, I was comfortably seated in a massage chair with a large flat panel above me where I could watch what I wanted while they took care of my teeth. Dr. Vlad and the staff are tremendously thorough. They took initial photographs of my teeth and smile, x-rays, high-definition photos of all of my teeth, and 3D imaging of my teeth for whitening trays I wanted. During my cleaning, I almost fell comfortably asleep. After my cleaning and exam, Dr. Vlad went through everything. All of the pictures, x-rays, and close-ups of my teeth. He asked me about my concerns and expectations and carefully explained everything. My teeth felt so good after my cleaning. So much in fact that I will probably go back four times a year instead of my regular twice. I want to change my smile significantly, and Dr. Vlad prepared a comprehensive treatment plan. He provided me with all my options and helped me to prioritize my areas of concern. Even if you don't live near Old Town, the Dental Standard trip is by far worth it! Yay for this new dental practice located in Wicker Park! I went to see Vlad at The Dental Standard a few weeks ago. From start to finish the entire experience was incredibly relaxing and informative. I tend to ask a lot of questions anytime I go in and see someone new and Vlad was incredibly helpful and patient with everything! The office design is impeccable, clean and modern.
