There are two pubs right across from each other: The Defector's Weld versus The Green. Both had friendly barmen and barwomen. Defector's Weld...newer, more modern feel, a wee bit more upscale...a nice place for a first or second date to show her you're a classy guy. The Green...older, more lived in, and slightly cheaper drinks...a nice place for a Bromance with your mates to drink save a few ££££s. Nice place overall with fun art. If you're on a budget, be sure to ask how much that suggested beer is...my wife accidently ordered a £5.30 12oz beer can.

As a part of the Lock Tavern and Amersham Arms crew, this pub is slightly less known but just as good. Located in an area that is mainly dominated by Australians (Shepherd's Bush), the Defector's Weld is a pretty cool pub. Spread across two floors the pub is well decorated with a mixture of large tables, low chandeliers, and big vintage frames. The upstairs, referred to as the 'snug bar', is exactly that: very comfortable with a living room feeling, yet it is often reserved for private and corporate parties. Sundays are the definitely the best days to venture down here for a great roast, 2-1 cocktail deals, a selection of Sunday papers and boardgames for hire. Sundays also used to host their infamous Musical Bingo nights, which were always good fun with prizes up for grabs. Unfortunately, this game has lately been removed from their program, but here is hoping that they will bring it back. My one dilemma about this pub is its location. Shepherd's Bush is not the most up and coming area, but if you do happen to be in neighbourhood, I recommend stopping by for a drink.

I really love this pub in Shepherd's Bush, it's cosy, friendly and a great place for a little meet up with friends. The bar is fully stocked and the pub itself is gorgeously decked out in dim lighting, shiny taps and heavy wooden furniture. The clientele is a mixture of locals and people stopping off for a quick drink before heading on for the night. I've always had a great time here, and I always hit this place when I'm around the Bush / west London. It's classy and cosy - the perfect mix.

    Snug bar!

Situated right on the corner of Uxbridge road and shepherds bush green, this is a gem of a modern pub. Cocktails from the snug bar are well served and food is fantastic, with some real querky serves, meat platter is great fyi! Good selection of beers, wine and cider as well as a healthy back bar. Highly recommend a trip if in the area!

    (Drinks = good) + (Food = good) = I keep coming back.

Really bad service and staff are painfully slow. Be prepared to wait an eon to get served at the bar.

Still, I followed a…read morefriend's recommendation to come down for a jazz open mic on a Friday night and I almost missed it. Once inside you are in pub heaven with a traditional looking lounge at the front, you almost walk into the bands as you enter the pub but there's plenty of seating to enjoy the music from a safe distance too. You pass through another section before the place opens up to the main bar at the back. It has quite a continental feel to it, and I can't believe I didn't immediately spot the massive vats at the back - I was too busy admiring the statues on the bar. And it's difficult not to be tempted by the selection of beers when in a brewery and I didn't regret my choice of Achtung. They also serve food and while the main menu is limited to sausage rolls and pies you can also order pizza or sushi which is delivered directly to your table by local takeaways. I'll definitely be back, a real gem.

Their Early Doors IPA was always likely to be my favourite, but I also enjoyed Dark Matter, 2 O'clock Ordinary and their Weissbier called Achtung! Good brewery. We stayed long enough to warrant some food. The burgers looked delicious, but we decided to go for 3 snacks for a tenner. This meant we could both have a snack of our choice and also share some chips. I enjoyed the luxury fish fingers! (No Captain Birdseye here!)

Third, the staff- from the time we entered to the time we left- were all friendly. We ate in the upstairs dining room, which has lovely high ceilings and a large room with dark wood tables and typical pub seating. The kitchen is upstairs and we got a table next to it but surprisingly and pleasantly discovered later we didn't smell like food. Now the drink. My husband and I split two bottles of a bottle cider, a peach flavour I think, and it was quite good. Lots of drinking options including cocktails. Now the food: As a veghead, I was happy at the variety of pizza, main and tapas options. The food prices are a bit high, especially for the tapas, so I ordered the least expensive veg main, the broad bean purée and broccoli rabe flatbread. My husband got a spicy pizza with nduja sausage. My dish arrived fairly quickly and I was confused at first; I thought it was the wrong order. It comes as a soup with stewed rabe and two pieces of crispy bread like pappadam. This is not how I envisioned flatbread: food atop a slice of dough like pizza. The waiter was so concerned and offered to take it back but I hate food waste so I plowed in. It was actually good- not fantastic- with a very thick purée and the sautéed rabe blending well. There is a lot of rabe and the constant chewing can get a bit tiresome but overall I liked the dish although I think it's better on a cold night as it's served piping hot. The flatbread pieces are bland. My husband said his pizza was good but much spicier than he expected. I nibbled on the pizza crusts and liked the chewy dough. One of the best experiences of the night was the waiter TBH. His attention to customer service- asking how our food was, if we wanted anything else, etc- was as if we were back in the US. I felt I had entered a country warp! SO rare in London to have that good service!
