We were hungry after a hike at High Shoals Falls a few minutes away. This was the closest restaurant around. The reviews were good. Boy, was everyone wrong. I wanted to like this place so bad because the portions were huge and our server/hostess was friendly...but at the end of the day, you eat for the taste and this place was not it! To start off with, the salad (literally just tomatoes and lettuce) was drenched in dressing. It was so saturated, I couldn't eat more than a few bites. You would think I ordered a bowl of dressing with a side of lettuce. My sister and her friend got "coleslaw" as a side, which came out first as a starter, I guess...but it had tomatoes in it. Oooof Gordon Ramsay would be pissed lol. Who puts tomatoes in coleslaw? She let me try a bite. It was bland and just overall disgusting. Nowhere near the taste of normal coleslaw. Her friend kept calling it dog food. They also ordered some chicken livers as an appetizer, and only ate 1 piece. It was too irony and livery to their liking. With barely anything in our stomachs because of the disappointing starters, we were really looking forward to the entrees. As the main courses came to our table, we were excited because the portions were very large and everything looked tasty! Unfortunately that was not the case. I ordered the bone in ribeye and 75% of it was straight up fat. It was also very tough to cut and chewy, even though I got it cooked medium. It had virtually no seasoning, so I had to drench it with A1. Extremely disappointing for a huge steak that took up the entire plate. The only thing that was decent in my order was the fries. My sister and her friend both got the seafood platter, and our other friend got the famous rainbow trout dinner. The seafood platter consisted of frozen butterflied shrimp, stuffed crab, hush puppies, and fried trout. The only thing the trout is famous for is being bland! I don't think this restaurant believes in seasoning. Everyone in our party agreed that all the food was tasteless and had no flavor. However the hush puppies were good, but greasy and one decent thing was the stuffed crab. We were hungry, so we ate what we could stomach. They were also busy, as it was Labor Day weekend. Otherwise, we would have complained and sent some stuff back to the kitchen. When our check came, you have to go pay for it in the front and they only accept cash or check. Good thing I was carrying cash that day (which I never do) or we would be stuck washing dishes in the back lmao. I tried to like this place, I really did. But I would suggest to take the extra 30 minute drive to eat anywhere else but here.

TBONE is serious ! Biggest I have ever seen! Delicious!

This place is the bomb Steak place to go when up in mountains of Georgia. Highly recommend and you must get there early to get in, it's always packed and line waiting!

I have been here countless time throughout my life, and it has always been a decent experience. The atmosphere of this restaurant is very neat and mountainous, and the cabin is definitely a neat place to dine in. The steaks are nothing but ginormous, but it is more a quantity over quality restaurant. I have had their burgers, chicken tenders, sirloin, tbone, and ribeye, and it is all "meh". Just about anything you get here is good, but not an exceptional restaurant by any means. I would recommend you give it a try if you have never been before.

We ordered the hamburger steak to go, and honestly, it was as bland as everything else that is served. No seasoning whatsoever, not even salt or pepper. Way too much dressing on slaw. I'm still leaving 3 stars though because the portions are huge and Deer Lodge is a local tradition that apparently hasn't changed a speck sine 1972.

Its not open during the winter, but as soon as spring comes around you can come to the Deer Lodge for what they are known for... a steak that covers your plate. The sides are served on seperate plates because theres no room for them with your steak. Its a volume play... its not the best steak in the world but its big and you wont leave hungry. Dont get me wrong, the steak is tender but lacks a little in flavor. It is a steak that needs sauce, which is a bit of a bummer. The sides are slaw, fries, salad or baked potato. They have fish, chicken, hot dogs and burgers... but you go for the big steaks. Theres usually a wait since the hours are 5p-9p, Thurs thru Sunday. Its good but everything is unsalted and you are reaching for the salt shaker with the quickness.

The score was 100!!! You don't see that often

My only recommendation would be to put safety grab bars in the shower. The people with the most expendable income for travel are seniors, and keeping the shower safe benefits everyone. To my complete disappointment, "Resort View" means looking over their parking lot or the neighboring apartments and parking (my view). There are no mountain views or lake views from this option. Very misleading!! When confronting the desk clerk, she commented that I had Mountain views from my room. Obviously she had no idea what she was talking about - but it was absolutely NOT a mountain view, and you definitely didn't want to "sit on the balcony to sip a glass of wine" as the resort suggests! There were only cobwebs and dirty chairs! The only good thing about the resort was the Oaks Restaurant, and Adirondack chairs to sit by the lake. Otherwise, I wouldn't waste my money. I won't be back.

It's only about a 2hr drive from where I am but there was a bit of traffic getting out of atlanta on a wed afternoon when we left so we didn't get in till dark. I called to say we might miss the office check in hours (till 6pm) so they kindly left the key in the cabin for us for whenever we arrived which was very helpful. The rooms were clean and kitchen and bathroom had pretty much everything you needed. We also utilized the charcoal grill. Only complaint was the lighting was a tad dark during the night but maybe it's to help you relax. Loved the view of the lake from the cabin, it was beautiful to wake up to. We were also able to bring our dog for a $60 fee. House rule does say no dog on bed so keep that in mind. There was a little doggy station on site and we were able to walk him around the property to potty. He enjoyed his stay and we liked going to the nearby trials in the morning/afternoon for a hike. There's an ingles nearby as well as some other restaurants if you need food options like McDonald's, Dunkin, couple of Pizza chains, and whatever a small town typically has to offer. Overall we enjoyed our stay.

This was a horrible experience…read more I booked Blue Creek through Airbnb on January 29th. They approved my application same day. On Airbnb I stated that I was a student booking for a senior trip and there would be two chaperones. I did not see a minimum age booking requirement on Airbnb when booking so I booked. When I booked on Airbnb they asked for my id and I sent that in as I booked. Again, they approved same day. My trip was booked for March 13th-March 17th. On March 5th I got an email from Airbnb that they cancelled my reservation. No email from them as to why. I then called there office. The lady on the phone told me I had to be 29 years old to book. She then asked if I had any 29 years olds staying with us, because this was a school sponsored trip we did. She told me I could have one of them book it and it would be a problem. I had to them have one of the chaperones book on their website, because Airbnb blocked them from booking another person that weekend because they cancelled us so close to our date. We booked a different cabin on their website that we thought was nicer. Our chaperone booked this cabin on March 5th. On March 7th we got an email that our reservation was canceled and if we tried to book again they would contact the authorities. I was severely thrown off and confused as to what the issue was. I called them and no one answered. I left a voicemail telling them I was confused as to what happened and asking them to call me back. I then got a text message that was very passive aggressive and unprofessional. They also charged us a $100 cancellation fee when they cancelled on us! I then called them today March 10th, and spoke with the property manager, asking what happened and asking for the fee back. The guy on the phone was rude and unprofessional. He told us that the majority of people staying in the cabin needed to be over 29. (No where on their website does it say that). He then said he didn't want kids "throwing parties" at his multi million dollar properties. No parties were going to be thrown. It was a school sponsored trip with chaperones staying in the house with us. He did not care what we had to say and was very rude and unprofessional. Overall, this experience was horrible. The customer service was horrendous and their way of handling things was disgusting. We ended up getting our cancellation fee back as well as full refunds. We decided this property would fit the bill because of it's incredible mountain views and reviews on TripAdvisor, bed&breakfast.com, and Travelocity. We were greeted warmly by the owner of the property who kindly showed us our room which was basically in the basement of her home. The room had that incredibly musty, old, moth ball smell like when you visit a bad antique store. Bed and accommodations were dated including mattress, bathroom, coffee maker, and microwave. Pretty much like visiting your stereotypical grandmothers cottage. Breakfast was decent but overall average quality which included grits, frittata, fruit salad, and cheese biscuits. The real nightmare when we had an emergency and needed to go back home. After speaking with the owner before 11 in the morning she refused to give us a refund for the following day because we did not give her "enough time" to cancel. There was no cancellation policy on her website, never returned my VM's, and felt like she simply overcharged us out of some grudge.
