I am a professional dancer in NYC and as a resident of NJ, I wanted to find a resource for Dancewear without going into the city. Unfortunately, this will not be a store I will ever return to. I walked in and was not greeted. This isn't something I was initially upset by because the owner was on a phone call. But after she got off the phone, another customer with her mother walked in and the owner earnestly greeted them and proceeded to help them with shoes. I at the time had two to three leotards in my hand that I liked and was ready to purchase but to no avail I was yet to be acknowledged. I was disregarded, ignored and for that, I put those leotards back and left. And as I walked out I still wasn't acknowledged. It's unfortunate as a black professional dancer. It's important that other artists of colors know that this will not be a respectful place for their dancewear and resources. read more

nice selection of dance items for my 3 year old daughter. I felt they were helpful without being pushy. my daughter loved what I selected so I did not have to deal with any exchange or returns as other reviewers complain about. going forward with my daughter in dancing I agree that if will arise that I need to exchange or return and hope that they are fair when this happens. This is how I become loyal to a particular store. It is nice to be able to shop in person vs online and touch and feel things so I will continue to shop here. read more

The staff was very helpful with choosing my daughters dance shoes and were very pleasant to us. The first time my daughter wore the shoes the heel broke. They took the shoes back without an issue and I got another pair (different brand). My ONLY issue is the store hours. I work so I can't get their by 6pm on weekdays. It would be nice if the store was open a little later. read more

Wonderful experience at the Dance Bag. The staff is knowledgeable and takes their time with clients especially when it comes to proper shoe fitting. There is no comparison when it comes to the Dance Bag other dance apparel stores. The only down side I can think of is the hours the store is opened. There really should be later hours especially because it is closed on Sundays. But other than the hours it is a wonderful store. read more

I found this place to be very expensive and their return policy is awful. Because I had only 1 day to purchase my 3 year olds outfit here , I was obligated to come otherwise, I would have ordered online or gone to Kohls! Somebody said "Center Stage" in Wyckoff is priced 30-50% less so I will go there for her tap shoes which I must purchase. Overall, I was very disappointed for their very high pricing. I needed a last minute costume piece for a performance I was in and headed over to dance bag as it was the closest dance store I could find. Upon entering I was impressed with the size of the store. I was greeted quite shortly and simply asked what I needed. As I was the only one in the store I brushed it off as I may have caught the lady of guard. There were 3 people working two ladies and one gentleman up front. The ladies seemed to hover a lot. One had her arms crossed the whole time and seemed very disapproving. I kind of felt like I was being treated like a juvenile and that they thought I was going to steal something. I had no bag with me or purse just car keys. I asked some questions about their stuff hoping that that would break the Ice but they still seemed like they just wanted me to leave. I did buy a slightly overpriced leotard but was in great need. She insist d on carrying it to be he register and didn't ask if I wanted to look around or if I required anything else. If she wasn't so short I probably would have purchased more as I am in need of training gear but I just wanted to leave. I'll probably order from discount dance from now on. read more

The Dance Bag was very helpful and organized. I found everything I needed easily. Getting dance shoes was good because the people are very helpful and nice. The only thing that I didn't like was how expensive the products were. They were really expensive, but the place was nice so I wasn't surprised. I haven't had time to test the products but they seem good enough. read more

Awful service, awful store policies. I regret that our dance school requires that uniforms be purchased from this store (online). The service was so bad that I, and others, are considering changing dance schools so that we don't have to deal with The Dance Bag ever again. I would not recommend ordering online (despite the claim that they will make every effort to resolve any sizing issues). "Sandy" will claim that she will "make everything right", but the first thing that she will say when you make your way to the Paramus store is that the item is not exchangeable or refundable despite indicating otherwise over the phone. read more

I went in there looking for leg warmers for a costume party. I saw a cute pair of converse, they only had a 1/2 size smaller. I tried on they seemed to fit but a little snug. The store was closing, so I bought in a rush. There must have been a sign at the register I missed. it was labeled on the counter where I put my bag. No money back even with a receipt. I am no dancer, just was looking for something to wear to a party. The man in charge was condescending saying our policies are not a secret. How about posting it on the front door or on the walls when shopping? I was being helped and I told the sales women they were tight. I feel they should have said something to me. Unfortunately I have to go back there to use this store credit. This place is not worth the hassle!!!!! read more

I was very unhappy with my experience at dance bag. We went there for ballroom dance shoes because it's the only place in town. We spent over $100 on a pair of capezios. Despite the fact that the owner fit me in the shoe and sold them to me, we later learned that they were way too big (we weren't too familiar with buying dance shoes). Terrible disappointment. Any and every dance item you could possibly need is there, there is no other dance supply store like it. Their products are top quality, and are quite reasonably priced for the caliber that they are. They customize items too with great style and detail. There are very few places as a dancer where you can go to be properly fitted for shoes and this is rare gem is one of them. read more

I wish I had read all the other reviews before going here because they are so right. Customer service is absolutely terrible. No one offers to help you - they just lurk around the store. And they think taping some sign on the counter (exactly where one would place her purse or the items she is purchasing, thus covering the sign) satisfies their obligation to disclose their draconian return policy. How about a little heads up before you swipe your credit card? I usually like to support my local merchants, but I would rather order ballet shoes from Amazon than ever shop here again. (Of course I'll have to go one more time to use up my store credit.) read more
