I brought my phone into him in order to get it fixed. After about a week, or so I called him back and he made no progress. I called him again the week after that, and he had given me more excuses as to why we had made zero progress. Finally after about a month, he stopped answering his phone completely, I got tired of it, and I drove in to get my phone. His location is 45 minutes from where I live one way, so this was a large time commitment. What I found when I got there during his normal business hours, was a bunch of mail stuffed under his door, his door was locked, so I left a note under his door with my phone number saying that I needed my phone back. This was about a month ago and I haven't heard anything back since I left that note. Now I haven't had my phone for about 2 months and I now am of the opinion that he stole my phone. I have made countless attempts to reach out. He is deliberately not getting back to me for some reason. Its worth it to go somewhere else, just not to have your items stolen from you. read more

On 09/24/2019, just after 4pm, I called the Tech Guru and navigated through their frustrating phone answering system just to end up with information-only messages and the line disconnecting. I called again and ended up down a different path to information-only messages and a disconnected line. My third call, I was able to select the right choices to hopefully speak to a customer service representative. I was then on hold for six minutes with no option to leave my phone number and a call back request. I just hung up and figured they were busy at the time. I called the Tech Guru again just before 4:30pm, adventured through the phone answering system again, and found myself on hold again for a customer service representative. I was on hold for just over 14 minutes before I just gave up. I don't know how their service is... I wasn't able to talk to anyone or schedule a service appointment. Very frustrating. read more

I have the same story as the other reviewers, I brought him a custom built $3,000 Laptop to fix some errors, each week I call he has done nothing with it and has some random excuse why he couldn't get to it, after 3-4 weeks he no longer answers my phone calls. He has had my laptop for months now and I cannot get it back from him nor am I able to contact him. If this continues I will be filing a claim in Court against him and have him served by the Sheriffs office. read more

The glass on my phone was cracked. I found The Dalles Tech Guru online. Tom, the owner, ordered a replacement and when he got it I was contacted and made an appointment to replace the glass. When I arrived for my appointment yesterday, 10/24/2018, he was ready for me. I left the phone and went on some errands and he was just completing the task when I returned about an hour later. Best to avoid The Dalles Tech Guru if you want to save yourself time, money, and hassle. I took my computer in and watched him fumble with it. Twice he tried to pull the bottom casing off without removing all the screws. He carelessly left the smaller parts lying on his messy desk, and then stacked my computer on a nearby chair, putting other things on top of it. I asked him to be more careful, and he assured me he would be. After weeks, I finally got my computer back, and it is scratched up, dinged, and cruddy with adhesive and dust, rattles with something loose inside it, and who knows what else. Additionally, he told me it would take about a week for the part to come in, and that he would have my computer ready to work on so he could get it done as soon as the part came in, and that he would update me on this. I gave him two points of contact, but there were no updates. When his original stated time frame came and went, I had my husband contact him. He said the part came in on Wednesday, an hour and a half before closing. A week later, when pressing him for why it was still not done, he changed his story and said the part had not come in until Friday late in the day. So there was carelessness, tardiness, uncleanliness, and excuses that sounded an awful lot like untruths, and then add to that the bad customer service. When I called him out on his poor excuses for slow progress, he hung up the phone on me. Also, his posted times showed that he worked on Saturday, but when we asked to get the computer on Saturday, he said he didn't work weekends, and he just couldn't figure out how to change that on Google. He has since updated his hours so it shows he doesn't work Saturday, so maybe he had someone help him out, or he wasn't being truthful with us. There's more. While my computer works, it worked before I took it in to him, it just had busted hinges. He "fixed" it in such a way that I can barely get the charging cord to plug in. If you value your electronics, and your time, go to Hood River, or Hermiston, just make the trip elsewhere for better service. read more
