I AM DISMAYED & HORRIFIED BY THE SERVICE I RECEIVED. I am shocked at the poor quality of packing I received. This company packed my items into U-box containers to be shipped across country. They did not use the shipping blankets provided (left them in plastic bags, untouched!) so that many of my wooden pieces have horrible scratches now. They SHOVED items into place - despite me saying to use as many U-boxes as necessary, so no need - permanently damaging irreplaceable objects, like an antique chair given to me by my great-grandmother, or expensive photography lighting equipment that I specifically warned needed to be handled with care - now in pieces and damaged, left for me to replace. Like, shoving a fragile circus light with multiple small glass lightbulbs (???) so that it would both BEND and SHATTER MULTIPLE glass bulbs all over everything. They didn't use the plastic mattress covers I bought just for this, leaving my BRAND NEW $2500 mattress exposed to dirt smears and tears, they placed hooked items jammed against box frames, ripping multiple holes in it, they dismantled tables I did not ask to be dismantled, with no care, literally breaking the studs, so that one table is totally destroyed. I was in shock, and the movers who helped to UNLOAD were shocked, having to point out damage after damage to me as they properly handled items. When I called - furious, no doubt - I was first hung up on. When I called back, this time calmly explaining my horrible experience, I asked for the one table mentioned to be replaced - $236 total - as a small gesture for the amount of significant damage that can not be fixed... only to be told they take zero responsibility. It wasn't about the $236 - which is a small dent in the damage. It was about having them acknowledge this was a total F up and shouldn't happen again. This was literally a master class in what NOT to do when moving. Frankly, I remain shocked that any moving company would not (A) APOLOGIZE, (B) offer some small compensation for the emotional and physical damage, (C) do a little research to find out how this could have happened so that NO ONE ELSE EVER HAS TO EXPERIENCE THIS POOR SERVICE. I lived in HR for 16 years, and it's a small town where everyone knows everyone. I hope this warning gets taken seriously. If you opt to use these guys, you better supervise every single thing they do carefully, because if you are not there to watch, your things get ruined and treated like trash. I would seriously say to use someone else. If you scroll through reviews, don't get confused by the good ones. It's the 1-stars you want to pay close attention to. read more

Rave reviews for the folks at Lester Moving and Storage out of Hood River, OR. Getting a quote and scheduling was quick and efficient. Confirming the guys would show up was part of their system, which made me feel comfortable that things would go well. The Crew showed up on time, had the right equipment and a great attitude and took care of loading with no fear of damage. Will definitely use them again when the need arises. Such a great company!!! Goes above and beyond. The movers were professional, so helpful, and funny. They were so patient when I couldn't decide where I wanted a couple of things put. They even moved a chair left in the house outside for me (it was heavy). I hired them to take my stuff from storage unit to my new house. They were punctual and careful with my items. I just wish I had hired them to move my stuff out of my old place. Would definitely use them again! read more

One star is too good. They loaded my uhaul for a cross country trip. They did not strap a china cabinet securely. The cabinet fell breaking the glass and shattering a stand up mirror. There response"we're not liable, how were you driving?" Well the truck was returned without a scratch. I guess I drove just fine Bottom line, to bad for you. They also quoted me $750 for the job, and then said $975. I paid them $850 after a lengthy conversation. That's $850 for a 26 ft uhaul 2 thirds full. What else can I say....Buyer beware. read more

This crew, from the office to the movers, totally made my move a grand experience of a lifetime! I love the way they relate with each other light-heatedly, which made it an enjoyable time, although moving is truly exhausting and stressful! The work was organized and delegated, all wrapping was gently done and all carrying took place carefully. Each day, I was surprised when they arrived early to get started and work continued steadily, with hardly a break until done! I had a map for where to put things, but some adjusting was needed and Jake's expertise helped each piece land precisely where it belonged. My extremely heavy upright piano needed casters to protect the floor, which the crew were prepared to complete the job...a relief for me. Everything went smoothly, until at the end of the day I couldn't find the key for the storage lock! How frustrating for me, yet they showed such patience. I have nothing but raves for this company and recommend them highly! read more

I've never done Yelp before, but I felt the need to jump on the bandwagon so that I can sing the Praises for the services that I received from this company. I had given them extremely short notice of my need to be moved, and it ended up being the day after Thanksgiving. So Mary rounded up three volunteers to work on the day after Thanksgiving to help move me and my disabled father. Jake, Austin, and Pete we're extremely punctual and showed up exactly at 8:30 a.m. Not only were they ruthlessly efficient, they were kind and accommodating and even helped figure out the feng shui of each room! These people are just angels! Completely worth every penny that I spent, and then some. I would recommend them to anyone, and everyone who needed help moving. I just want to say thank you so much to them! You all are amazing! read more

This company is absolutely terrible, and completely unresponsive when a problem occurs. My daughter moved here to Maryland and trusted this company with her precious belongings, gathered together over some years. One of these items belonged to her great-grandmother, my grandmother. This was a small chair and it was simply broken in half. There's no reason or excuse. Many pieces, including for example expensive mattresses, desk, side table-were dirtied or damaged by being simply thrown into the storage box. Most egregious, my daughter supplied an ample set of new packing blankets for this company's workers to use when they placed the items in the storage box. When we received and opened the storage box, those padding sheets were still in the package--Lester's workers had not even bothered to open or use them. My daughter supervised loading her items into the truck, but trusted the workers to move her items into a storage box, which they promised to do. Although she was kind and they seemed responsible, once she was not watching, they simply shoved everything into the storage box with no care, no professionalism and a great deal of damage was done because nothing was packed or even placed carefully. This crew was cruel and incompetent, and the owner of the company was uncaring, unprofessional, and unresponsive when questioned. We asked for a trivial recompense of a few hundred dollars to replace one item broken beyond repair and even that was refused. We hope to spare others this sort of disaster. read more

These guys really took care of me. Very efficient, quality service. They went beyond the call of duty on several things, like tightening my table legs which were wobbling, Assembled my bed when it had been in pieces prior to the move, etc, etc. and still finished within the timeframe we had agreed on. In addition, they really worked with me on scheduling. They came recommended for office moves and I would definitely recommend them for residential. read more

Highly recommended; Had them move all of our large furniture, including a very expensive, very large, one-of-a-kind gaming table, several beds, dressers, TVs, etc. They were extremely professional and efficient, to the point of helping the appliance installers move the appliances in as well when they noticed them struggling to get the appliances in without possibly damaging our new home. The care they took with the table was top notch, and they exhibited all the professionalism I could want with safely securing, transporting and assisting with reassembling the table in the new home. I was so impressed by the whole Lester Moving team! Clint was very knowledgeable and gave great advice to help us save money on the move. Mary and Marge did a fantastic job packing our things and were a joy to work with. Jacob and the heavy lifting team were fun, polite and really cared about quickly and carefully moving and packing our belongings. I highly recommend them! read more
