A smoked salmon stall, a couple of bakeries, some health food stalls. I recommended the stall that sells only raspberries. There's also a lot of ready to eat options - dumplings, fresh juices, a bagel stall. A great place to go for lunch as well as buy your weekly groceries.

When it comes to cake I adore your standard white cake, buttercream icing combo and Vanilla Pod nails it. Not even, they take it to a whole other level. Their cake is perfectly fluffy and the icing is colourful and sweet. They do tonnes of different shapes and pictures, too, which entices the kid in me who still wants a Minnie Mouse cake. Aside from cakes made to order, they function as a wonderful little cafe too. Their cabinet is a colourful array of cakey goodness. I can vouch for the awesomeness of their lavender and vanilla butter cake, their red velvet cake, and their cute little cupcakes. They make cake pops too, and I love going in and seeing what shape they've made this time. Look at the Muppet ones in the photos I put up. Nawwww! I was introduced to Vanilla Pod by a friend who took me here saying I just had to try their hot chocolate. I'm glad I did: you get a jug of hot, frothy milk and a pot of molten liquid chocolate, and a spoon. What else do you need!? As if cake and hot chocolate wasn't enough, Vanilla Pod also sells deli items and providore type stuff. They have the largest range of Wilton cake tins I've ever seen and I love to sit inside eating my cake and looking at all the different cake tin shapes where they're hung around the top of the shelves. I went into the Ferny Way Bakery to grab a pie after leaving my computer for repair at a nearby shop. Inside the bakery I was met with a friendly smile and the uplifting scent of freshly baked goods. I looked over what was in the store and I was amazed at the range and the sheer beauty of the breads, rolls, cakes and pies in the store. When I finally managed to get myself to the pie cabinet there was a huge variety for me to choose from and being the simple man I am I got the steak and mushroom pie. It tasted delicious. The pastry that held it together was thick on the bottom and crusty on top. The filling was a perfect balance of gravy, chunky meat and mushrooms. There was no need to insult this pie with tomato sauce. On the way out I noticed a humble little award stuck to the wall on the way out. Apparently Ferny Way Bakery won the best bakery in Queensland award in 2010. Good work.

This is not your typical bakery, they do the most divine artisan breads, sour dough, pies, sausage rolls and pastries. Pies with divine tasty fillings and pastry that is soft, crunchy and flakey all at the same time. But the real winner is their vanilla slice, get in quick as they ALWAYS sell out by lunch time. You can find all sorts of baked goods on the table as it varies from day to day. Many times I've picked up their scones at half price or sometimes even more than half price. I have taken home bags of cookies at a fraction of the cost or loaves of bread heavily discounted. When I am planning on having guest over in the afternoon, I duck out quickly to see the specials. I know, sounds a bit sad, but it is a part of my grocery run and they do have hard to resist specials a lot of the time. Clearly, I get bread here a lot! The service here is wonderful. The ladies behind the counter are very patient with me. I like to take my time in choosing my cakes and baked goodies. I like planning on when and what I will be consuming during the week. Politely the waiter allowed me to take a seat and presented an eager baby with chocolately milk. He was so happy to see a little drink just for him, so i was very happy. The imagination that has gone into some of their cakes is pretty impressive (Think Turkish delight, Red velvet and lemon meringue.) And although I find it can be a bit hit and miss with some of the recipes (e.g. the expresso cake that doesn't taste like expresso) I really can't go past their rich Chocolate and Hazelnut (Superb flavours!) or the many macaroons on offer. With outdoor and indoor seating available, this place is perfect for a late-night sugar hit or to catch up with friends.
