Just passing though , we are on our way back from a trip to visit my oldest daughter , we wanted something yummy and the queso was so delicious. Service was outstanding and the place was quiet for a Sat night but overall the food was amazing and I recommend.. we were told they are the only Mexican food for 50 miles .. give them a try .. and thank me later !

Great stop on our way East. Saw the positive reviews and decided to try. Glad we did! Everything was excellent! Quick to be seated and presented with chips & salsa along with drink order. Nice decore and who can resist the cuteness of the name and donkey? Probably took 7 minutes for meal- I got the chimi/beef, he got the patriot burrito with chicken. Everything was very fresh and delicious! All reasonably priced so we highly recommend. Will certainly stop again when we are in the area.

Stopped here on the way back from San Antonio. Food was absolutely delicious! Having ate at a substantial amount of Mexican restaurants in my life this would rank among the top ten easily. Portions were huge. Appetizers were delicious and chips fresh. Will be stopping by again when I'm passing through. Well worth the 2 minute drive off the interstate.

So, this restaurant is located in Palestine, Arkansas, population 660. I'm not sure there is another restaurant in town except the Subway inside of Love's truck stop. As a result, this place offers a little bit of every type of food, from fried fish to pizza (and Mexican) . The service was very fast and friendly in a laid back atmosphere. We opted for Mexican. I honestly can't say much about the food. Mostly it was just average. The flour tortillas are not house made and were barely warm, the refried beans didn't have much seasoning. That said, it's a cute little place, especially if you're not sure what you want to eat!

If you're ever in Palestine, stop by the Crazy Donkey to eat. They really produce quality, made from scratch food. The waitresses really work as a team, and will get you anything that you need!

This is the street taco plate with shredded steak and a special chili sauce! The fries were deep fried and no salt crispy as could be!

We exited the interstate after reading reviews on the Crazy Donkey. We were looking for something different on the road from Little Rock to Memphis and there it was... at Palestine, Arkansas just 30 minutes west of Memphis! This is a gem of a place! It wasn't busy on this Monday early afternoon but we were treated like we were the only customers in the place! Friendly courteous and the food was ready hot and on the table in less than 10 minutes! Fresh food. Hot food. Good tasting like NOT out of a box good food but just now cooked to order crispy where it's supposed to be crispy and tender where it's supposed to be tender! I asked for no extra salt and just a sliced avocado added to my dish and they prepared it exactly as I asked. Service was excellent and it was a really great choice and a very good decision. Just out of sight from the highway and over the railroad tracks to the left. You can't miss the crazy donkey when you get there! What a fun thing to do along the way!

Here's the Facebook post that stated it started yesterday.

I Went to get pizzas because it was advertised in 2 different places that I could get 2 medium pizzas for $15. It was advertised on Facebook that it started yesterday and when I went to the restaurant it was on the sign out front and they still wouldn't honor it. So I just ordered some Mexican rice and it was cold and soggy and the plastic utensils, that are prepackaged, was open and missing the spoon. Not at all the service I was expecting from a business whose motto is "A passion for serving."

On a recent roadtrip, myself and 4 other companions were what some would consider to be weary travelers. We were in the midst of a journey back to Tennessee from Oklahoma and The Crazy Donkey was our chosen watering hole. We were greeted by a wonderful young man who quickly quenched our thirst with some ice-cold waters, crispy chips, and zesty salsa. We ordered off of the lunch menu; myself and another one of my fellow companions had the mixed fajitas, one had the Patriot Burrito, one had the chicken chimichanga, and one had the vegetarian fajitas. Not only was the food piping hot and brought quickly to our table; it was incredibly tasty and best value we could have asked for. The next time that we're traveling through the area, we will certainly stop by The Crazy Donkey once again in anticipation of being greeted by hospitable people and great food.

Food was AMAZING and they have plenty of vegetarian options! Service was super quick also. Fantastic place for a quick stop and super good food for it being in the middle of nowhere!

    Street tacos- yum!

Even the salsa (chips and salsa) was a little spicy without lingering too long on your taste buds. We went at an odd hour and it was quiet in there enough to talk across the table. They were initially quite attentive but got a little lax when we were ready for desserts and the check. But I don't fault them as it was close to closing time (it was a few minutes after by the time we paid and walked out) so they may have sent some of their people home already. I recommend this place.

Great atmosphere, clean (including the restrooms), and the staff were engaging and aiming to please. The salsa is the best I've had at a restaurant in years. The guacamole is really good too. It's chunky with tomatoes, red onions, and cilantro mixed in. My husband had the Fajita Loca which is two chicken breasts on a bed of sautéed onions with a cheese and spinach sauce on top. It was served sizzling on a cast iron fajita pan with the usual fajita sides and tortillas. It was fantastic! I ordered the ceviche. It's made with shrimp and was very tasty. It wasn't served with the typical crackers so I don't know if that was an oversight or if they just don't serve it like that here. But they brought me warm corn tortillas when I asked for them. I'm not sure when we'll ever be going through this area of the state, but I'll definitely stop here again if we do!

We'd barely been seated 2 minutes before our server approached. "Can I start you off with some…read moreCheese Dip?" he cheerfully asked. Melting Pot Cheese Dip ($9), a food I don't recall ever previously experiencing, is said to have been invented in Arkansas and is considered an important part of Arkansas food culture. It's Tex-Mex-adjacent but closer to some delicious version of Cheese Whiz than Queso Fundido. Strewn with a liberal application of jalapeños and served with a big basket of fresh tortilla chips, this is the best way to start any meal but certainly the only way to start a meal here. We followed with Fish Fry Tacos (2 for $16.50), equally fresh, unique, and satisfying and not the type of fish tacos for which San Diego is known. Accompanied by your choice of 2 sides, I loved the "Smashed Smoky Pinto Beans" and was transfixed by the fresh flavors found in the "Tomato, Cucumber, and Mint Salad". Heights Taco & Tamale features lively decor in a space that's a joy to dine in with food that makes things even better. Who knew that Arkansas had its own spin on Tex-Mex food? I'm now a rabid fan of Ark-Mex food.
