It's billed as a co-working craft space, but it's soooo much more. The space is bright & beautiful, creatively laid out and so much fun to explore. This store has a large dog which just barked aggressively and approached my child as they entered the store. The owner didn't apologise or come to comfort my daughter who left the store in tears. Rude , unprofessional and unsafe. I'm all for dogs in stores but dogs like that need to be on a leash near the counter. We will never enter this store again and encourage others with children to stay away. The owner clearly hasn't learnt given this appears to be the third incident with their dog mentioned in these reviews. read more

We had an excellent experience hosting our daughter's 5th birthday party here. They are organized, clear, and responsive. The main art project, bubble art, was well-executed and delightfully fun for the kids. They came up with some side art projects that were great for the younger siblings and parents: a drawing station and a cork coaster station respectively. Devon and Ben were able to manage the kids' participation and attention spans, which is not necessarily the same skill set as teaching a craft--only a small subset of people qualified to teach an art project are also qualified to lead a group of a dozen preschoolers. Very fair pricing. Basically, you're paying for the space, the materials, the expertise of the people leading the activity, and the labor of setup/cleanup. I think things were priced appropriately. We got pizzas from Mizza around the corner, which was very easy. We'd gladly have another kids' birthday party there in the future. I think some of the moms are thinking of having a moms' get-together there in the future, too. read more

This is a store, but so much more. I've purchased several gifts here, for both kids and adults. I've taken two classes with Silvia, one with Andrew, and one with a community/guest teacher. I've been taking classes at the crafter's library at State and Figueroa for a while now and really love the small art classes and student to teacher ratio. This past weekend Dr. Laura taught a class in resin jewelry which was amazing. I left the class with 3 completed pieces: earrings, necklace and key ring and a box of supplies that she had purchased for each student that cost more than the class price. She is planning on teaching more classes, and I'll be first in line to sign up. The Crafters Library also sells memberships where you can work on your Art whenever the place is open. I've been working at home and never can work without doing a home chore or two, and I decided to buy a membership. What a good decision! I am almost finished with 2 pieces within my first weeks of membership. The energy of this store/studio is really peaceful and the owner, Andrew is kind and helpful. read more

The 2.5 hour beginning knitting class with Angela was fantastic! She was a great teacher. She was very patient with us, and spent time going around to each person, making sure that we were doing things properly. We had a fun group and there was a lot of laughing and joking around as we marveled at each other's "mistakes." I feel like I learned enough to be able to make a scarf, or perhaps a beanie hat. Took our granddaughters to the holiday celebration at La Arcada Plaza. Santa Claus made an appearance and all the stores participated in the fun. There was popcorn, apple cider, and Christmas cookies. But best of all was when we walked into The Crafter's Library. They were set up to help little ones with letters to Santa Claus and had a great craft table set up with a wonderful young lady helping little ones craft reindeer, elf's, and snowflakes and more. I am BEYOND elated that a shop like The Crafter's Library has recently opened its doors to ALL of the Santa Barbara community to practice, express and share their individual talents and creativity. Owner Andrew Rawls didn't foresee himself in this position after traveling and living around the world, however, the stars have aligned and I am thrilled he has landed here in our sunny beach town! The Crafter's Library is one of only a handful businesses owned by an LGBTQ individual which is absolutely fabulous. The space is inviting and welcome to everyone. Now, on to the details... How does it work, you ask? Well you purchase a membership for a day, week, month or year (ranging from $25 a day to $125/mo; check out Axxess card for a discount too) which gives you access to the state-of-the-art equipment/machinery (sewing machines, Cricut cutting machines and a fiber arts lounge for knitting, crocheting, etc) and help from the staff. Andrew has built out this two-story co-working space in the historic La Arcada for crafters to make their art, but also have the opportunity to sell it in-store and online. I was thrilled when this space opened and have had multiple great experiences here. I've taken classes and returned several times to work on a project using the sewing machines. Silvia or Andrew were always willing to help me out when I forgot how to do something on the machine or had other sewing related questions. We had a private event at the Crafters Library for my wife's birthday. They have a reasonably sized private area for 10-14ish people. There were a bunch of options that Andrew went over with us. In retrospect he probably put in 8-10 hours of work just leading up to the 3 hour class, which made the affordability of the event that much more impressive. We had a glass etching class where there were a few designs that he had made and printed for us in advance, talked us through the whole thing beautifully. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
