We stop by to see what the price were, but Cranky Crab is a very small operation so we felt obliged to order. They definitely weren't as cheap, but the proprietor, "Biscuit" explained that was probably the price for the smaller crabs. The ones here were 7 or 8 inches across (#1s or extra large and very meaty males). We decide to get only a dozen and it took about 20 mins to get them steamed. While we were waiting, my 8 yo asks if he could see the equipment to which Biscuit obliges. He even gives my son a little popsicle from the freezer, which was much appreciated on a hot 90F summer day. He's a grandpa, so maybe that's why he's good with kids. With a nickname like Biscuit and a clean crew cut, I thought for sure he was in the military, but he is/was a firefighter and adopted his the nickname in honor of his dad. Overall, I'm glad we stopped by. The prices might be a bit big for some people, but so are the crabs. Stretch your dollar and save all the crab shells, bits and pieces to make a crab stock. Then use that for your next soup or stew.

They were patient with my calls as I was shopping around for the best cost and availability along my way home from DC to Philly. The catfish was cooked perfectly, the fries were solid, and the crab soup was full of flavor and packed with crab. The service was also really good.
