Now called the Devils Lake Bar and Grill , with new owners. We tried the new restaurant which has been cleaned up . The food was good! We had the chicken wings and a burger, both were good. The fries are great ! I had a frozen apple cider which was very good . My friend got the cider with fireball and said that was very good. Some white paint would brighten up the atmosphere. I walked in on one of thier first days, the owner looked me in the eye TWICE and never said 1 word. The waitress was chatting with another patron, not about food. There w d re only 3 of us in there. I left after several minutes of not getting service or acknowledged at all. I actually gave them a second chance and when I got my tacos, they were cold and they told me to take them home and microwave them!!!! The first bad review on fb they blocked me and deleted the comment. The next bad review they didn't try to make it right but they went out of there way to contact me to try to get me to delete the bad review. This place and it's owners are absolute TRASH!!!!! Had heard a few bad things about this restaurant and then read some yelp reviews where it had changed. This place was really good. Not just your average bar food. Much much better. And the prices are great. I recommend taco Tuesday there. $3 margaritas. Bartender was great. And they have free pool during the weekdays. Wish I would have taken a picture of my burger. I've been a customer for years and around Devils lake it is one of the best place to get a cold beer and reasonably priced meal. Every place around this lake area has its problems. The owner Mark is trying hard to make this a great place to stop. Give him a chance. read more

A decent bar and a good time. Came for a karaoke night. You can basically forget singing unless you're a regular.

Great place and super fun. Food was great and the wait staff and bartenders where very attentive and helpful. I will come back here again soon. They have the lead singer for quiet riot playing in August and I am sure it will be a great time. Looking forward to it and coming back soon. read more

Too bad zero wasn't an option. This place is horrid. Don't waste your time unless you need a drink. Make it alcohol to kill any germs. If you need a glass of water, the lake might be safer. Just walk about 200 yards and you are at the lake. The food is straight from a frozen bag and put in a deep fryer. Not just any deep fryer. A deep fryer with extremely old grease. Stop and take a look at the bathrooms. When you see and smell those do you actually think they are cleaning anything else? I've watched employees test the temperature of food with their fingers. Bare fingers. Then I have watched people like you unknowingly eat it. The owner, who is always there drinking. Never talking to you as a customer. He sits there and gives the impression that he is some kind of big deal. The hilarious thing about that is he is sitting in a dump of restaurant and the people around him are getting terrible service. I know the guy recently said everything was changing and he wanted a fresh start because he had to work out the kinks. Those weren't kinks, that is called a disgusting place because everyone is lazy--especially him. I gave the place a try after the desperate plea on Facebook and I think it was worse than the time before. Save your money and go to any of the other bars around there. I just relocated to the Manitou Beach area and have been checking out the little family owned restaurants, bars and diners. The Cove happens to hit the top of the list, staff, owners and patrons all very welcoming and friendly. The restaurant is under new ownership so I've noticed some awesome changes each time I visit. All meals are made from scratch and I have to say the chicken enchiladas are the closest to my own I have ever enjoyed outside of my own kitchen. There's a great large fenced in patio to enjoy drinks and dine in the sun. Awesome craft beer list and Michigan Wine selection. Conveniently located right off 223. read more

Definition of dive bar, staff seemed untrained. Whatever you do don't eat the food. Watched a food grade tub leave the kitchen to go clean the bathroom then back to the kitchen. Cooks clothing looked like it had a year of grime on it. Eat at your own risk. read more

If I could give zero I would. I've tried giving the new management a shot as they work through kinks but today was the last straw. Nearly absent service at the bar. Kylie walked past my husbands empty beer glass twice (as well as other guests) went to the kitchen waited for her relief bartender, counted money and then we started keeping track if the time. Empty glass sat for 15 minutes while both bartenders counted money, ignoring empty glasses all around the bar. Finally get asked "whatcha drinking". Then he clears dishes off the bar, responds to a text, goes to the kitchen to run food to the dining room, back to the kitchen then finally back to the bar still no drink!!! We said never mind cash us out. Lady next to me said your trying to get a beer too? It's ridiculous. Watch the cameras Management and you can rerun what we dealt with. First time visiting since the new owners took over. I will never return, painted the walls dark blue some of the lighting was not working so dark we had to use our cell phones to look at the menu. Only one person working, bartender/waitress and she was doing shots with some very over served customers, who where so drunk and disrespectful we were intimidated to leave. But not before we tried some of the hot wings, my friends were over cooked to black and mine were under cooked and slimy, the ranch dressing was just awful. So sad to see this place get rid of Gino's pizza. Even more insulting, the waitress told us Gino's was terrible. Wait staff seems undertrained. Waited 20 mins at a table for a beer and silverware. Nachos were served with shredded chicken and little cheese, covered by a mountain of canned black olives and tomatoes. The deep dish pizza had little sauce, was served with canned pineapple and the same awful shredded chicken as the nachos. I get that it's the only place on the lake to go to a dive bar and grab a bite to eat but cmon- at least keep Gino's and make it worth the visit for us lake people! read more

The place wasn't bad I came up for a vacation and came for the karaoke .. Figured it would be fun ... But as it goes doesn't matter when you put your request they don't go be request they go by order of new singer so no matter if you were there for 2 hours waiting for your turn or 45 min to an hour it didn't matter cause as long as a new name was put on the list you were dragged down .. Wouldn't have been so bad if I didn't have to leave for a 21 hour drive and it didn't make a difference that I put my name in 45 min to 1 hour prior to us leaving I understand that it is to be fair to all the people at the bar but it all changed when a signer called "Woodstock will" went up 4 times almost in a row but I had to wait 45 min to an hour and still had to leave the bar before I got called ... So much for fair ... Drinks are good food is ok fries aren't great and queso is not spicy like it says on their menu ... Karaoke is unfair and from the looks of it bends its rules for the locals. Good luck to anyone that wants to have a good time and sing karaoke if your not a local might want to just put down a random name for yourself just to get a turn read more
