The burger didn't come with any salad or sauce which I found slightly strange but I improvised with my side salad and sour cream from my side. The service was really quick too. No faffing around here. We were in and out within the hour. We decided we couldn't visit without getting some cake to go. Who could walk past that cake cabinet without being at least tempted? Hubby and I love a cheesecake so we both opted for the toffee cheesecake. We thought about taking two different types and sharing but this one just looked so good we couldn't see past it. I've managed to eat a couple of mouthfuls so far so I can vouch for it being yummy. The takeaway box comes with a use by day which is handy because it'll take me until Tuesday to finish it! The menu is presented on a clipboard and the wall is adorned with the simple but rather effective conceit of spelling the name of the cafe in large letters, each printed on A4, popped on a clipboard and stuck to the wall. The only other piece of decoration on the wall is an adorable poster for the cafe's Tennessee namesake, the famous acoustic music club. Haldanes has relatively limited hours but is the best food on campus. As of this term it means a selection of panini, a live theatre meal, a main course with meat, a vegetarian main course, a carvery meal, and a salad bar. The options vary and are different every day, but after awhile you'll notice them cycle through options. I've had meals here that I've only somewhat liked but I've never had anything I dislike, and I have had foods I've really enjoyed. The standards I have for it do rely on the price of a meal being between £4 and £5, but you get what you'd expect and a bit more. They used to have weekly menus listed on the Stirling University's catering site but you now need to visit to see the meals of the day. It's a minor disadvantage but there's usually enough of a variety to find something you'll like every day. The main lunch eating hours are 12-3 now but they're open from 9-4 for just coffee and as a good place to work. It's the main place I eat when I need to eat on campus.
