as someone who' goes to the CORE everyday to workout, its very frustrating when a crucial machine is not fixed for over a month. the pec deck has been broken for some time and I've considered transferring to another gym for more variety. i hope this get fixed soon as i feel i cant fully accomplish my workout. read more

I'd give zero stars if I could. Incredibly rude customer service experience. Outdoor pool closed however online it says open. Then when trying to pay they don't take cash. That is when you let someone in for the $4 since they don't have a CC since they were planing on going to the pool and people don't want items stolen when swimming. But nope they didn't care at all. The experience I had in CORE yesterday was the most dreadful one I've ever encountered as a long-term resident of Coppell for 15 years. Yesterday afternoon, I accompanied my daughter to swim at CORE. I bought a pass for her, but to my surprise, I was informed that I also needed to purchase a pass for myself in order to be allowed to stay by the pool and watch my daughter swim. Supervisor Trinity Klepzig presented me with the policy and explained that, according to their rules, I had to purchase a pass to access the facility. Even if I only wanted to remain in the hallway, I still had to buy a pass. Since I needed to keep an eye on my daughter, I reluctantly purchased the pass. Having been a resident of Coppell for approximately 15 years, I find myself questioning the reasonableness of this policy. My daughter, my friends, and other people at CORE share the same sentiment--they believe this policy is unfair. If a policy is deemed unreasonable, it begs the question: Why does such a policy exist? read more

I've been coming here since we've moved to coppell more than 20 years ago. I preferred this over YMCA or some of the other private gyms in this area. For one, it's really close to my house since we lived on the other side of Denton Tap, and the facility has everything I would need to work out. As a current member, my only gripe is on pest control. Often times, especially at night near the bikes, you would see cockroaches crawling around like they owned the place. I'm certain once the lights go out, this place would be filled with them partying up. I know it maybe next to impossible to get rid of them, but it can get better in at least controlling them so that I don't have to see them wandering around. We moved to Coppell a year and a half ago and have loved it. I was nervous to move to the burbs of Texas, especially being from Seattle, but it's been wonderful and that's because of things like The Core. I have been taking yoga classes on Monday and Wednesday morning which makes such a difference in my overall health and stress. The instructor is so wonderful and really makes the class enjoyable. The only thing I don't like is that some people come and go right in the middle of the class. I understand running a few minutes late (been there!) but when it's an hour class and you leave 30 minutes in that's weird. Plus if you are then have all your stuff outside in a locker so you don't disturb everyone. Sorry that's a side rant ;) My kid has been doing swimming lessons here for about six months and that has been great as well. Again, all of the instructors are so warm and welcoming. The pricing for the core is a little odd. It's $4 a day so you have to go quite a bit. We did the math and it's $500 for a family, which is 125 individual visits. For a family of 4 you'd have to each go 3 times a month for it to be worth it. Since I'm doing the classes twice a week it works for our family, but if you go only once a week it actually may be more cost effective to just pay for each class. I would recommend going for a couple months and then buy a membership if you make it a regular habit. All in all it's a great facility that's well managed and super clean. zero star. We have done several programs here and something is wrong with this place specific to pools and swim programs. it is breeding ground for criminal activities. parents are harassed and so are kids! we took fairly large number of lessons through 4-5 years of our visit and we strongly do not recommend their programs. we have done all programs there, i would say pretty much all and Coppell crocs in particular is the worst program and should be shut down! I request all parents to please avoid this program because of bad practices of coaches. The staff supports these dirty practices that harm kids at younger age and parents are harassed! Our coaches were vi nguyen and joanna withers back then. worst coaches i have ever come across in my life. being an educator all my life from my high school years, their behavior towards parents and kids in particular is irresponsible and negligent! the guy seems to have fancy about woman after him but it is the other way round! He flirts and follows them on roads all the way to their residences too! How disgusting is that. In case he understands that this is huge turn off for women like us who are settled in life! I really hope someday, he learns this. From understanding some of the most simple conversational english to repeating questions a million times, these people find it difficult to understand what parents ask! Instructions are not given on time and there is always some kid missing somewhere during the swim meets! This includes my own child while she was in swim meet under vi nguyen and addison. I am a vigilant mom and my young child was trained to take care of herself and we found her on time after whole 45mins and that too because my child had my number. I would wonder what will happen to kids who don't know their parent's numbers! As a parent, do these people know what we go through because of their carelessness. The staff encourages these activities without knowing harm and damage these people do to families. recreation center has address required for the enrollments and families are harassed every time there is complaint made to staff! forget about fixing issues, these people rather choose to just revolt instead of understanding/clearing the issue! a saying that you just can't fix an idiot stands true! We walked out and it was the best decision of our life, needless to say, i was followed and harassed on roads too, right after, for which i tried to make complaints to local police. coppell police refused to take my complaint and obviously, i took some drastic steps after which these issues have subsided. needless to say, i recorded it all (accidently) while i was recording my kids. I strongly recommend to stay away from these people, staff and their programs. read more

I've been going to this gym for over 15 years so I've seen it grow over that time. I'll break it down part by part. Cost: 5/5. This is easily one of the most budget friendly gyms you'll ever find. And for the amenities it's a steal. Amenities: 2/5. They have everything! Studio classes, cardio area, lifting machines, and a free weight area. They also have an indoor and outdoor pool (open from Memorial Day to Labor Day) and a nice basketball court. And even coffee until 12pm!! Issue is you might not get to use them when you go. Sometimes they leave the coffee empty for 30 mins plus even though they're not busy. The basketball court is full of classes/ crowded with children / closed for an event. The pools have classes throughout the day so it's not convenient. The lifting area is usually suffocating. Groups of kids just linger around, take up multiple machines/weights, and can get obnoxiously loud at times. Staff: 2/5. It's hit or miss. Some of the staff actually care and greet you, unfortunately most of those don't work here anymore. Sometimes they'll ignore you or just stare at you. The worst is when the gym attendant is not there. We have to check out towels and this one particular guy is never around. And even when he is there he'll put out one beaten up towel. He also turns off the lights for a moment when they're nearing close, which is completely unnecessary (and not safe) since they announce it. He also closes 3 mins early and gives attitude every time so that's really ruined my experience. Hours: 1/5. They run on city hours, so they close at 8 pm on Friday, 6pm on Saturday, and are only open from 1-6 pm on Sunday. That totally sucks because people have more time open in the weekend and they have horrible hours then. They also take 2-3 days for Holidays (closed for 2, short hours the day before). Which is fine but other gyms don't do that. Other: Too often they have issues with their tvs. Half of the cardio machines remotes don't work. Last year they didn't have service for 3 months. Right now they don't either.... I'm writing this while on the treadmill bc there is nothing to watch lol (but yay, free wifi!!). They need to fix their service and make sure all the stations have working tvs/remotes. THEY ALSO HAVE A HUGE BUG ISSUE, especially during the summer. There were cockroaches? Or something similar crawling throughout the cardio station. It gave extra motivation to go faster, lol, but that's super gross. TLDR; very cost friendly and good amenities, but other things over shadow those things negatively. If you want just a cheap gym w/ all the amenities, perfect for you. If you care about the experience more, not that great. read more

The CORE is great! I would especially recommend taking Power Yoga with Jennifer. She really lets you customize your practice and the class is the perfect level of difficulty. I would say that it probably isn't for beginners because there is lots of balance (warrior 3) and twisting required but I improved my practice so much through her class! read more

I LOVE THE CORE! The core is a great place to spend time with the family or to go alone! The exercise center is great, it has both free weights and weight machines! They have treadmills , rowing machines, stair master and more! The back of the core is a great place to picnic, there is a beautiful lake, sculptures, trails through the woods, volleyball courts, and so much more! I love to bike there! The dollar swim from 6-8pm last night was great. We had 8 kids and 4 adults and had a blast.

I go here quite frequently to exercise. I have never seen it dirty, possibly the other reviewer came on a bad day. I've been there likely more than 50-75 times. Classes are good, front desk staff are very nice. I would prefer to keep the rating low so people don't go and I can this place all to myself but that would a disservice. read more

We have been going here for our son swim class so far so good. Instructors are very nice .even though the class is only for 40 minutes for 5 kids ,they will teach 3-4 techniques for each kid/class. They shouldn't increase kid -teacher 5:1 ration. there are life guards every corner. So overall we are happy with our service. Planning to buy a pass. This community is awesome. Thanks for a great summer of swimming! The outdoor pool is perfect for everyone, especially young swimmers. My son loved the slides and the water mushrooms and buckets in the kiddie pool. Great facility, friendly staff! The showers and pool could be cleaner. Tile around pool is loose and logging water. Hours are very restrictive - would be nice if the pool was open till 10pm instead of 9. Also saturday hours are restrictive - they close at 6pm on Sat and Sun which is a pain. read more

The place is decent! I love the outdoor pools where you can swim almost all day, and there are slides and obstacle courses. The indoor pool is a great place with one open slide. The pool water inside is always freezing cold. My sister and I go here for awhile and live it up! The staff members are great, and the lifeguards are always paying attention to the swimmers, and I've personally seen them jump into the pool and save a child from drowning. read more

The Core has a lot of positive things about it. The hours work for my schedule. The price is affordable. Over the last year, the cleanliness is on a steep decline. The ladies locker room seems to never get cleaned. Trash, debris, used towels, you name it all over the locker room. The showers and toilets are extremely dirty and the toilet area is in need of constant repair work that never gets done. There isn't a regular cleaning time and after the morning rush, it certainly needs to be cleaned. I have mentioned to the staff on numerous occasions and they only give you excuses. The cleaning man doesn't speak any English is one of the excuses. The front desk staff appears to be very uninterested in taking any responsibility in getting the issues addressed. The other excuse is that they don't have a female who cleans there so it can't be done when it is needed. There is clearly a lack of good management at this facility. Please hire management who cares so that this facility can be kept up properly. read more
