Nice for the little ones, big ones and the lap lanes are free of loitering and reserved for lap swimmers.

This morning I found out that a friend (Rodney) who normally works out with our group had his…read moremembership revoked for "training in the gym". This is the second person that I personally know who had this happen to them at the Coppell location. Shortly after I was referred to the gym by my friend Antoinette Diaz, she contacted me and told me the same thing happened to her. Neither of the two are trainers. Antoinette and a group of her coworkers started working out together at LA Fitness before work a while back and made it a daily thing to workout together and push each other. When Club4 opened, she fell in love with it and began reaching out to everyone she knew to tell them about the gym. Rodney is an Armed Forces member that actually invited me to work out with the group that we have now. Both had their memberships cancelled and were notified of this by email. We are all friendly and respectful to other gym members and if asked about certain exercises give other members tips on performing them. None of us are trainers and none of us get paid for anything fitness related. I try to stay out of anything up there that doesn't pertain to me but am extremely upset. There have been more than a few African American employees there that are no longer with the company that had expressed that the manager (Stephen Lively) was discriminating against them. A former employee named Kynnedy was told she could not wear shorts because it didn't look professional, but all of the other girls wore them daily. She was extremely embarrassed because she has a bigger frame than the smaller petite girls there and was actually crying at work. I did not know her at the time outside of her signing me up for my membership but have a daughter her age so that did not sit well with me. On a separate incident, she and another Black female employee were made to move the couches into the men's locker room while Mr Lively and the other male staff were up front talking. One of the other male members approached him regarding the issue at which time Mr Lively stated he did not order them to move the furniture but the girls said in our hearing, "yes you did". Shortly afterwards Kynnedy was written up for not having her name tag on. She finally just resigned because he stayed on her daily. Not long afterward the other female employee disappeared too. One other employee by the name of Gideon left and went to a different branch and soon afterward, a young man whose name was Paul if memory serves me correctly disappeared too. All of these employees were black and all expressed similar issues with Mr Lively. If you check the employment records over the past 9 months, you'll notice a trend with the Black employees' employment. I have had my membership at CLUB4 since May of last year. I speak to whomever is behind the counter when I enter and leave. Mr Lively has never once acknowledged me. He will look down, look away or start talking to an employee rather than even say hello. That is the level of management that is overseeing your Coppell, Tx location. I'm pretty sure you will be receiving more emails pertaining to this because more than a few of us are fed up with his behavior. It's frightening to think that one day I may not be able to scan in because my membership was deactivated because I work out with a group of guys and he "assumes" I'm training someone. Not sure if this is something that you will address but I sincerely hope that you do. BODY SHAMING and RACIAL PREJUDICE has no place in the gym. Thank you for your time concerning this matter. Unfortunately, that room has now been converted into manager offices, and the class has been moved to the gymnasium--where half the court is still used for basketball during our session. It's noisy, distracting, no mirrors or proper sound system, and simply not the environment we signed up for. To make matters worse, several popular classes have been cancelled or relocated, and the locker rooms are consistently smelly and moldy, which raises serious concerns about cleanliness and maintenance. Many of us are considering canceling our memberships. We've voiced our concerns, but the management seems indifferent. It's incredibly disappointing to see a community-focused organization disregard the needs of its members like this. I hope the YMCA reconsiders these decisions and starts prioritizing member experience again. Part of a lengthy email response regarding the changes at the location: "The changes happening within the branch are certainly big ones, and I can see how, without the full context, it would feel like space is being taken away from the people who make the Y what it is--our members. What I hope to share is that while we are repurposing Group Ex 1 into office space, this shift is a reflection of the YMCA's growth as an organization, not a step away from our mission. Our team is expanding because we're serving more families, more youth, and more community programs than ever before. That kind of growth means we need more behind-the-scenes support to keep it all going--but I absolutely understand how it can look like a loss on the surface. I know that doesn't replace the feeling of losing a room or restore the exact layout that once was, but please know--this is not a step away from our members. It's a step toward being able to support even more of you. That includes exploring ways to maximize what space we do have, and yes, continuing to look at long-term growth opportunities in and around the building. We truly value you and your feedback. These classes are about more than just fitness--they're about community, connection, and joy. We're committed to keeping that alive, and we're so glad you're part of it. Thanks again for being part of our Y family."

In many areas, the club shines - its strength and conditioning equipment, instructors, and health programming are unmatched and, most importantly, I've met great people. As good as the club is, and no doubt, great things are happening there, it's really expensive - and the last several months I have constantly been questioning if I should be paying what I do. I mentioned in my first review in July I felt the club was slipping. No question I have, and deserve to have, the highest expectations for this place but that comes from them. They promise us an "athletic country club" experience and charge for it - so I expect them to deliver. Over the last year, this club has been dealing with a serious member trend related to its big ticket item - the men's rejuvenation suite in the locker room, consisting of a hot tub, cold plunge, dry sauna, and wet sauna. Quite often, it's a wreck - as are other sections of the locker room. Wet towels and trash crumpled on the floor and in seating areas and in corners around this section of the club. There's sludge on sections of the floor at night after the big rush. Many of the men members of this club are acting like slobs - and Life Time isn't keeping up. I feel like the maintenance crew tries hard, but I've also seen them blow past the suite without even sticking their head in for a status check - as if they have other priorities than one of their biggest competitive advantages when it comes to amenities. I really feel like Life Time without this is mostly a four- or five-star facility - but this issue knocks it down several pegs. It's exhausting.

I only had two sets left, mind you, and my sweater was on machine, I was getting ready to sit in it and use it, and the employee starts unracking my weights. I said "excuse me, I am using this and he said well we are moving it"! Never ever would this happen at 24 hour fitness or any other commercial big or small private gym. They know how to put their patrons first at those other places. IF he actually was taught to put members first, he would've let me finish the extra three minutes it would have taken me to complete my sets... never going back here. Or they could've put a sign to not use machine, like all other gyms in the world do. I have been a personal trainer all my life and never have I witnessed anything like what happened to me here today. If you're serious about your workouts and your time in the gym, don't bother with this incompetent staff that doesn't know how to put paying members first. What I experienced today is like eating at a restaurant and while you're in the middle of taking a bite of your half eaten burger, the waiter comes to your table and grabs your plate with your fries from underneath you. Who does that? LOL. But that is not the worst of it.. after the manager talks to me, the rude employee that kicked me off my machine (older man) comes over to where I am and rolls his eyes and tells me "get over it"!!! I've never been spoken to so poorly by a grown man. Shame on him for speaking to a lady that way. Zero respect, zero common sense, zero gym etiquette or know how. These people are running a joke of an establishment and their employees know nothing about serious training or why people actually go to the gym and yet they work at a gym.
