There's limited parking, about 8 spots on the property. It's beautifully situated and the set up is so nice. They provide aprons, overalls and slide shoes if you don't want to get your clothes dirty. Today's group was super small just me and 3 others! We learned to use the wheel, the process that happens afterwards and then you practice detachment by leaving your piece and choosing 1-2 others to take home! It was fun talking to Stacey and Kristine and hearing their stories about their prior lives and how they ended up opening a local glass studio. The team let us know after we had finished our class that it'd take a few weeks before we could come pick up our finished goods and they'd e-mail us once ready. Unfortunately, we never got the e-mail but went ahead and called in after a few weeks and confirmed we could go pick things up. The pieces came out in ways we didn't expect, but overall very happy with how the glass came out and I accept user errors regarding my lack of artistic capabilities.

Greeted with excitement, owner Rochelle of Board & Brush had me check in on her iPad. Showed me to my seat where we chatted for a bit. I saw my project in its raw form. I'm so excited to tackle this project. This is actually my second time coming so I know a little of what is expected. Rochelle does an amazing job taking you step by step and helping you. Even if you're not a crafter, never even handled a paint brush, Rochelle, and her staff are very patient, and very helpful. You start off with a raw board of pine. You're given a couple minutes to release your stress on the board. Hammering marks using chicken wire, a hammer, a mallet, and a large screw. You'll sand it lightly, and then stain it. Then it's time to stencil. Using a semi dry brush, you'll dab your brush on the stencil. Give it a minute under the fan to dry and peal the stencil off. And you're pretty much done. You get an official Bb logo sticker to complete your project. I recommend signing and dating your project on the back. Viola you're an artist! The Fancy Marshmallow Co. owner, Tina, she is such a sweetheart. She set up her beautiful marshcuterie spread. All made from scratch. Soft, fluffy, and flavorful treats. She has the cutest treats. All kinds of shapes and sizes. My favorite is the strawberry champagne. Trust me, they are amazing. Tina also brought in her hot cocoa mix ingredients and we all got to make our own bag of hot cocoa mix to take home. And we got to pick our goodies from the marshcuterie and box them up in the cutest boxes with heart printed tissue paper. Such a sweet touch to a fun class. I highly recommend coming to Board & Brush. Such a fun girls night out. They are BYOB, so it's a great group celebration. The Fancy Marshmallow, such a cute boutique, I've been several times. He was helping other customers at the back of the store, but as soon as he was done he came over to explain how this art studio worked. You basically pick a project and they give you the run down how to do it. They help with picking coordinating paint colors. Or whatever it is that you're making. So many projects to make. It's a really big space so if you're looking to do a party, or a work team building event, this would be great experience. I think they are even mobile, so kids birthday parties at your home would be super convenient too. Me personally, I used to do all sorts of arts and crafts, but to stow away all the different tools, was just getting to be too much. Great concept to be creative, but not commit to buying tools and supplies. I love that. I hope to make a project soon. Lots of ideas and all levels of crafting.

I had been wanting to try this place for a while, and I'm so glad we finally did! The instructor was nice, although I wish she had walked around a little more to make sure everyone understood the instructions. We also brought wine but weren't given any direction about cups until we asked. BYOB tip: if you bring white, rosé, or sparkling, bring something to keep it chilled because there is no refrigerator. They offer lots of different paintings and classes, so I waited until I found one that wasn't too complicated or too simple. At the end, we spun the prize wheel and won either a free visit or a discount, but never received anything for it. To be fair, I forgot to follow up too--this review just reminded me! My sister had been here once when she first moved to Austin, but it had been a while, so she was happy to go again. We tried to make a reservation for a Monday but found out they're closed that day unless it's a private event. So we ended up booking a Sunday evening during their Sangria Sundays event. Signing up online was quick and easy--no payment required upfront. When we arrived, we were seated at a table and given the option to sit side by side or across from each other. They handed us a laminated flyer with all the available project options, ranging from easy (about an hour) to more challenging projects that can take the full three-hour session. There was a good mix of household items (like coasters and magnetic shelves), jewelry, handbags, clutches, accessories, and even a pricier custom Nike shoe painting project. The sample projects looked very professional, but the final result really depends on your artistic skills and how focused you are during the session. My sister and I decided to pick different projects--she chose a handbag clutch, and I went with coasters. We got all our materials and instructions. One thing I noticed: this kind of activity is probably better suited for people who don't have a ton to catch up on while working. Since my sister and I hadn't seen each other for weeks, we were trying to talk and catch up, which made it harder for me to focus on the project.
