I think the people who work in the Cherry Hill, NJ store should be retrained. We purchased items to be picked up. When we arrived, we used the app to let them know we were at the store. We waited 20 mins in the cold parking lot. I finally went into the store and was told I didn't use the app correctly. I finally got one item I purchased. I was told the other item is out of stock and would be shipped to me. After waiting for an entire week. I called CS and I was told it was at the store for pickup. Again, went to the store, received the item, it was open and shoved back into the plastic packaging. I took the item. I WILL NEVER SHOP AT THE CONTAINER STORE AGAIN. read more

worst experience with ordering online. I have ordered from them to have items delivered with no issues. recently they delivered new orders to wrong address. I contacted them by phone and they refuse to do anything about it, first blaming me, but when I show proof that they have new address, they place blame on FedEx even though the container store are the ones who create the label. They refuse to give me a refund or resend items to new address stating that they can't because it was ordered online. makes no sense and the lady I was speaking to didn't understand why it was happening. so I'm out over $200 and have to see if i can place a dispute with my credit card company. will not do business with them again because they don't seem to want to help there customers in any way. read more

First time stopping into this location but have shopped online previously. It's a nice sized store and I like that it allows you to look around and see different storage/organization options. I wish there were more staff on the floor given the size. I had to go find someone and then they had to call someone else to finally help me. I had come into the store to use their custom design service for a closet that I was trying to reorganize. I enjoyed working with the attendant and they did a great job creating a 3D diagram of the options and confirming everything would be shipped. I was able to place my order and receive my product in about 3 business days. The set up process is a little confusing and the directions have to be looked up online but that is also not always clear as to where online to go. After some googling - we finally got everything set up and I have to say it's a solid build! Overall - quality products and the service was great once I found someone. I wish the products were more clear with directions and less hoops to jump through. read more

Every kitchen, closet, garage, office, travel and bath apparatus that could possibly put your OCD into overdrive is available in an environment so pristine and sterile that German efficiency experts everywhere are green with envy. Of course, the trade-off for having all of these time and space saving inventions under one roof is the premium pricing which is evident throughout the store but can be eye-popping on some of the closet and garage organization schemes. However, there's plenty of knowledgeable salespeople around to point you in the right direction making any price differential far more palatable. Now onto the good stuff, as in the obligatory encounter with the angry, maladjusted employee who was clearly not happy when informed that one of our items scanned incorrectly. "I can't speak to that.. whatever price scans is the price you pay." Well, I CAN speak to that Beavis, so why don't you get off your fat ass and walk the fifteen feet to the product display and read the price on the sign that is boldly marked ten dollars cheaper. He was clearly not pleased being outside of his parents basement but will soon be much happier when replaced by an algorithm. A minor amusement on a day when I discovered twenty new ways to sort and store my collection of rare Bolivian cufflinks and obscure Guatemalan spices. Bitches will kill you for a parking space around here! Be careful! But once you walk into the store, everything that you want but don't really need are right there in front of you. I was looking for some clothing storage solutions and was able to find a portable wardrobe option with a great sales discount. It's the little tiny "under $20" items that'll kill you, gadgets that can be pretty fun, possibly useful, etc. Those can add up quickly. But I stayed on point and only walked out with what I needed. Antique ones are crazy expensive, but when I wanted to redo my bathroom with that old time pharmacy/barbershop look, I wanted some jars for cotton swabs and such. Container Store to my rescue. Literally designed with this stuff in mind, I was able to find exactly what I needed. When it came time to organize the kitchen, I liked the idea of the jars but needed airtight ones. Not a problem. What size? Did I prefer round, or square, or bell shaped? They had it all. I even bought an oversized one to keep cat food in. Yes. I'm. That. Organized. Of course there are thousands of other items to feed that obsessive compulsive disorder, closet organizers, shoe trees, kitchen widgets, office supplies that you didn't know existed but certainly can't live without. This is one of those stores where you have to be in the right frame of mind for. If you go there wanting to be in and out, don't bother, you will leave thinking the whole world is being made in China and of plastic. If you have a little bit of time, though, and have some thoughts on how you might be able to organize a section of your kitchen or bedroom or basement or whatnot, they have some really good ideas and resources. If you don't have a game plan/list, though, you can get really overwhelmed with the walls of stuff and want to high tail it out of there, IMHO. I have to say that the container store could be a little pricey but this may be one of the best customer service experiences I have ever had. Kimberlee helped not only lay out an entire closet but also helped us keep it within the proper price range while still looking totally appropriate. In addition we had them professionally install our closet which was a little expensive but they took down the old frames, respected and painted the spots on the closets and were very organized and orderly. Too to bottom the service was above even my highest expectations and every time we came in they were knowledgeable and serviceable. Excellent store - has a huge selection of all kinds of organizers and containers. My personal favorites are cabinet sized mesh solution drawers and lunch boxes with removable compartments. In addition to carrying a lot of useful things the store has excellent staff. While many people complain about the cost of shopping at The Container Store, and while it IS true that some of their items are more expensive than buying the exact same thing somewhere else, the fact that EVERY employee I encounter, each time I am there, is helpful, friendly, and genuinely seems to love their job trumps saving a dollar or two, at least for me. They don't always have exactly the precise thing I thought I needed when I went in, but they do always have a wide array of choices for solving ANY storage/organizational dilemma. The store is clean on well arranged (which I suppose is de rigeur for a store which sells Organizing) and, as I mentioned above, the staff is wonderful. They also have a very clean bathroom, though there is an odd door on the inside of one of the women's room stalls. Overall, it's one of my favorite places to shop! read more

Not surprisingly, this is a well-organized store, the aisles and products all look very neat. However, most things (say those for the kitchen) are made of plastic. It's all practical, but I could find no funky designs or high quality items. For example, I needed a water pitcher with a filter, the only one on display store looked flimsy. Also, I found a poor selection of trays to organize silverware, and most of the "jars" to store kitchen things were made of transparent plastic. Great place if you want to buy hangers though! Every time I go to The Container Store, I love it a little more. They carry ever conceivable piece of organizational item one could ever imagine, and many others that you didn't even realize existed. The Container Store has played a pivotal role in organizing my pantry, linen closet, and to a lesser extent, my bedroom closet. I dream of having a custom designed Elfa closet, but unfortunately that is just not in the budget. The store *is* overpriced, and sometimes you can find a comparable item at Target, but the selection at The Container Store is so vast, that whatever the type of item you are looking for, you will find various styles and sizes to truly meet your individual needs. FULL DISCLOSURE: I have a friend who works here. But I don't feel that has biased my review in any way. I do have the benefit of my friend telling me what sales are going on at any given time, and giving me some ideas about my organizational needs, but aside from her being my friend, it is clear that The Container Store trains their employees well. They know the products and whatever employee I've asked for help has always been able to show me various suggestions for my issues. The Container Store makes me want to be a better person. They have everything imaginable to keep you organized in every aspect of your life, including travel. One day, I will have a walk-in closet that is organized by this store. For now, however, my meager little closet is organized by a few key pieces like a shoe organizer and some containers for handbags. I get it. It's a big box store. A chain. A franchise. The bane of our independent, capitalist society. They are over priced and generic. BUT.... the quality of goods surpasses Ikea, Home Depot, Lowes, Target, and other like stores. They have unique ideas on storage and will design your space for you (for FREE!!!). Not all their designs shout style, but they err on the side of functionality which should and does include craftsmanship. Where they lack in form, the make up for in ease of use and simplicity. In my opinion, many of the wares peddled at The Container Store surpass Ikea in both form and function. You certainly pay for steel instead of plastic, wood instead of laminate, simplicity instead of miles of instructions. On a personal note, at the store in Cherry Hill, NJ, were some of the friendliest and most helpful sales people I've encountered in a goodly longish while. Yes, they have Made In USA plastic storage boxes - so does Target and for less money. This is a fine place to go for ideas, but most of what they sell, I can find a way to live without, DIY instead of buy, or get it elsewhere without having to shlep across the bridge. I went here to buy an InterMetro shelving unit here last week after looking on line for one that would fit next to my refrigerator. The staff was extremely helpful - it was the sort of service I would only expect to get at a high end independent retailer. The gentleman at the register insisted on helping me load the shelving and other purchases in my car. The staff throughout the store was knowledgeable and enthusiastic about their products. I'm one of those people who loves buying organizational tools & gadgets but still isn't very organized (at least at home). So... I love this store, even though my place may not be much less messy for it. The staff was helpful but not intrusive. The prices... eh, I couldn't find letter trays for the price I was willing to pay, but I found quite a few great things on sale, and some of their shelving is a good deal while some is kind of ridiculous. There are quite a few things now on my mental wish-list (luggage-like laundry cart #1) and a couple I would've purchased if I wasn't taking a bus home. Put in two Elfa closets to our new home. Amazing! Spent an hour in-store with a design consultant who really tailored everything to our needs/wants. We paid to have their person deliver and install everything. They were on time, friendly, professional, and got all the work done in half the time we were told to expect. The closets look amazing! I have loved the Container Store for ages, so when I heard one was landing pretty much right in my back yard I jumped for joy! I have organized every drawer, shoe, shirt, sock, hat, piece of jewelry...everything! But the real test came when I needed a custom vanity made for my makeup collection, the value which ranges into five digits. No, I'm being completely serious. Having already spent all that money on the makeup, the CS seemed very reasonable, even the elfa. After looking at actual vanities, none which fit my needs and were well upwards of $500, CS became the true front runner. I did lots of research on my own, but the staff was also very helpful in assisting me with choosing the right system. After several hours (my fault - imagine having to get the rght cutlery trays for $10,000+ of makeup!!) we took that bad boy home and had it set up in a jiffy. Now I'm even more Contained! (wink wink, nudge nudge). The return policy here is also fabulous - have the receipt? You can take it back at any time. I only once exchanged something for a different color, but it was a snap. I love to spend time just browsing around too - you never know what you'll find. They also havea great travel section in the very last row to the left, for the more adventurous Yelpers out there. I've found plenty of little items and gadgets that have really improved every vacation since. read more

I love the Container Store (mostly because I love organizing all my junk). It's a bit pricey, but I always leave with something. The store itself is pretty self-explanatory, so my review here is more about the staff. Normally, I buy home improvement items from Ikea or Lowes where it is impossible to get help from anyone. And when you do flag down someone, they have no idea what you're talking about. Container Store (at least this one) takes it to the other infuriating extreme. My husband and I were looking at Metro shelving. We already have a few, but we were trying to expand them and add a few things. Naturally we were standing in that aisle a while to figure out exactly what we need. I didn't think we were there that long, but in the span of about 15 minutes 5 different people came to "help" us. First, we asked someone about available sizes. He answered quickly and moved on. A few minutes later someone else came over and asked if we needed help because Metro racks can be "confusing." After politely declining her help, she left. Then another guy came over to see if we needed help and we asked him a question about pole height. He said about 3x, with a big smirk on his face, "you can do whatever you want in your home. but we don't do that." A bit odd, but we decided to get the extra long poles and put them in a cart. Then ANOTHER woman came over and asked if we needed help. When we said no, she still continued to do her spiel on the differences between the Metro shelves. We interrupted her with yes, we understand, we don't need help. But she insisted that she was trying to save us the "anguish." Little did she know that their over-helping for a simple shelving unit was causing me much anguish. Eventually she got the message, but she saw the poles in our cart and insisted that we get a larger cart. We said we were fine, but she said many people get injured running into them. (What the hell is going on here that people are running into large poles?!) We moved on, and yet another woman came by with a very large and awkward cart (made of metro racks btw) for our poles. She continued to clumsily place the poles in the cart. I was highly confused since now the cart was difficult to push and maneuver around the aisles (even the wide central one because there were displays all throughout the center) and I was afraid the tall poles would knock something off the shelves, but "safety first," right? The rest of our trip was fairly uninterrupted until we got to the register. As I was checking out, the cashier told my husband to bring the car around so they could help us load the vehicle. We exchanged glances since we only had a few small containers and 4 poles. But I didn't want to drag the poles, so he went to get the car. We started loading our Mini Cooper (something we have become very good at over the years) and a smallish woman came out to help! My husband is a young, 6' tall, very capable man, so how a 5' 2" woman is going to help him load the car is beyond me. He laughed and said, "we got it thanks," but she still stood around to watch giving us obvious advice like, "push the poles all the way to the floorboards." At this point I really wanted to punch someone, so we ignored her and she eventually went away. As much as I love the store's products, the whole experience was incredibly anguish-inducing. Perhaps they get a lot of senior citizens (though I highly doubt it), but they should take one look at us and know that were are pretty functional mentally and physically. I want help sometimes, but you don't need to crawl up my ass, especially when I repeatedly say that I am fine. I will probably return next time I need some containers, but this time I might have to start being rude. read more
