We were in need of new nicer counter-height bar stools as the Amazon benches we did buy were adequate, but hurt my butt after only a few minutes. I checked out multiple places on Yelp as to who may be the best place for what I was looking for. Howard Hill Furniture fit the bill. HHF was a drive into NJ and a rather large single floor building with all types of samples of furniture for purchase. They also have many catalogs one can look through and place orders. They have unfinished furniture if desired, or you can buy it finished but not put together. My bar stools were supposed to have been not put together leaving that for me to do, but to my surprise they were put together when I picked them up. This is not IKEA furniture; it's solid wood and well put together. At least what I purchased was. Due to COVID-19, and the shipping quandary from overseas shutdowns and stuck container ships trying to unload, my order from July 11, 2021, was only received today. The staff had told me it would be at least three months to get my furniture, and when I picked them up was told I'm one of the lucky ones who actually got my order when they said it would be in. Many others were delayed even longer. Thankfully, HHF have not lost too much in sales for those who wouldn't wait. Staff were friendly and not pushy at all to make the sale. They let me sit my butt in all the available merchandise for my butt to make the best decision in my seating choice. All prices were reasonable but not really low. Again, though, the quality of the furniture is better. I'm very happy with my purchase from HHF. read more

Definitely a superior furniture store with both quality items and quality employees. We spent about 10k between an office set along with a bedroom set, and although there is a wait of up to 99 days for delivery, the quality is phenomenal. Many items are imported from Brazil and Mexico, made of solid wood. Both gentlemen in the store were extremely helpful, patient, and made fantastic recommendations. They don't get paid on commission, so it's nice not having someone try to shove items you don't want/need down your throat, lol. My husband and I are very picky with our furniture. We've been to so many stores including Raymour and Flanigan, Mealey's, Bob's, Ashleys, Macy's, Johnny Janosik, and also Ethan Allen. Howard Hill so far has the best quality bedroom set that we've looked at. Sure, they don't give out discounts or have sales like the competitors and we did spend a couple of grand...it is pricey....but I get so much joy from our furniture that it's worth it! We intend on keeping this set forever, so it was worth spending more imo. The drawers are all dovetail and the metal glides are very smooth which makes opening up each drawer a DREAM. I bought 2 outdoor rockers from here after searching everywhere and these were the best quality at the lowest price. The sales process was professional, pleasant and not over powering. I ended up with a slight problem with the rockers (which was a manufacturing defect), and Sam was right on it and had it rectified. No questions asked. A few months ago, I was kicking around the idea of purchasing a new piece of furniture for my bedroom, a lingerie dresser, to be exact. Fast forward to last weekend; my mom asked if I was free to shop around on Sunday afternoon in search of my birthday gift - a lingerie dresser. Yeeeeaaaaayyyy!!! We went straight to Howard Hill, the wood furniture warehouse I had always seen without really seeing while driving by hundreds of times on Route 130. We were welcomed immediately by a friendly employee who showed us the wares. The store was chock-full of beautiful creations ranging from desks to vanity tables to toys to water bowl holders for dogs. Most items come unfinished but there were several finished pieces available as well, although the markups were considerable. Within minutes, we selected our favorite option but decided to shop around, for comparison's sake. I'm actually embarrassed to admit the other place we went; the items were so sub par with respect to their quality that it would be like comparing apples to... crab apples. We returned to Howard Hill a few days later and were welcomed back by another gentleman from our first visit. In ten minutes, the stain and top coat were selected and everything was paid for and loaded into the vehicle. The dresser has been stained and is awaiting a coat of protective finish. It's a beautiful piece of furniture that was made all the more special because of the hard work my mom put into preparing it for me. I'll cherish it for years to come! read more

I am not opposed to stand up drinking.The wife just thought the option to sit would be a nice touch for our barroom. Easy enough, just go out and buy three simple well made, not to dear bar stools. The problem is, you are really faced with two choices. option #1 pre fabricated furniture complete with back assward directions, little L wrenches designed to remove most of the skin from your knuckles. Coupled with the joy of assembly with your beloved who thinks your doing it all wrong. What is Swedish for divorce? You also get the pleasure of the thing falling apart, and you ending up on the floor several drinks before you intended. option #2 is buying a nice piece of furniture at exorbitant prices. Apparently the furniture folk believe that the amateur barkeep, and at home rummy are extraordinarily wealthy. After previewing the selections at a place run by marauding Norsemen and a gentleman in old city who's last name was conveniently Barstool, we decided the price was a little to high for serving our friends segrems out of a Bushmills bottle. Howard Hill to the rescue. As soon as we walked in to this mecca of unfinished furniture, I knew we were in the right place. the enthusiastic but not pushy salesman showed us to a room filled with bar accessories. He invited us to "test drive" the selection. Admittedly I'm no Jesus of Nazareth, but I could tell the pieces were solid and well built. It is easy to see the quality when the piece is naked( read into that what you will) The price was significantly less than the other places we had been. After picking out our stain sealer and brushes we were packed up and out the door. we now have three sharp and sturdy bar stools, and they are comfy too. What a great shopping experience. After trudging from store to store looking for a kitchen table that'd match the look and feel of our existing cabinets, we stumbled upon Howard Hill and were blown away. Great selection and an amazingly helpful staff. Our new table is made in the USA and constructed of solid parawood, unlike the veneers we saw at most other stores. Price wasn't the cheapest, but it was far from the most expensive and, hands down, is the best quality table we saw anywhere. We'll definitely be going back there again the next time we need any tables, desks, shelves, stools, etc. read more

I found this store by accident while shopping at the Village Thrift next door. In the thrift store, I was looking for dining room chairs to refinish for my dining room and (luckily) didn't find them. So I noticed the HUGE sign on the front of Howard Hill Furniture's building and thought "What the heck...might as well." I'm so glad I did! The selection of chairs, as well as other furniture I might need to buy in the next year or so, was great. The store puts large tags on each show piece to explain what kind of wood each piece is (ranging from hardwood to pine and everything in between), if the piece is made in America, and most importantly, the price, so you don't have to ask an associate every time you want to know how much something is. I got four simple, sturdy, and stylish chairs for my dining room for a great price. Considering what some thrift stores charge for old, beat up chairs ($49.99 each at the Pennsauken Goodwill) that need to be sanded and restained, these were a bargain at $80 each. They are solid wood that I trust will last a lifetime and now I don't need to take the sanding step; straight to stain and varnish! Also, the sales associate I dealt with was not pushy, just the right amount of helpful and friendly without hovering around me. He told me that delivery to Philadelphia for a certain piece I was interested in was $65-75, but Pennsylvania deliveries don't get charged sales tax, so the delivery cost is usually offset for most things. read more

Nice, no pressure browsing and shopping. Pretty varied selection of furniture of different types, and a good bit that are made in the US, which is nice. They don't work on commission, but are very helpful and willing to help you find the right piece. Prices seemed pretty reasonable, even if you decide to have a piece finished. Also, they do sell some furniture that is finished, it all depends on what you are looking for. I've shopped here a few times now and I've been impressed with the quality and service. The salesperson who worked with us each time was knowledgable and friendly. I looked at about 5-6 stores for a kitchen table and the table I purchased from here has been well used in my home for about 3 years now & still looks beautiful. So much that now I purchased a complementary table & chairs for my dining room. The selection is good- and it's easy to get overwhelmed with options like available finishes, but the salesperson really was outstanding with helping us navigate the options. If you want to assemble furniture late into the night, then just go to Ikea. Their furniture is interesting, but delivery is very erratic and don't trust them if you pay for them to assemble. You will end up, as we did, on their grimy shipping dock loading furniture and then assembling late at night. They are not worth the hassle. read more

My husband and I recently shopped at this furniture store. It was the worst shopping experience of our lives. I don't know if I've been spoiled by good customer service in other stores, but once you place your order and if you are unhappy with something. you are screwed. BEWARE the "custom" order. This term is used to cover any mistakes they make. We recently purchased a table with a distressed dark wood top and cream distressed sides and chairs. It was delivered and I cried. They are the ugliest table and chairs and I have ever seen. The dark top looks new not distressed and the distressed cream looks filthy dirty that's how they define distressed. So after $3000 I'm stuck with the table and chairs that no one will sit on because A person would think they're sitting on a dirty chair. read more
