We were looking for furniture for our new home and stopped by for a quick visit. We entered the store and a male employee stared at us for an extended amount of time and didn't greet or welcome us at all. We browsed the store for a bit before Sara greeted us and shared an overview of the store. Sara was kind and checked in again later when we walked past her. It was a pretty quick visit since we didn't see anything we liked. The store is like a fancy Bob's Furniture with worse service and higher prices. When I first walked in I wasn't greeted by anyone. A man looked at us and then didn't say a word, which was disappointing. Until Sarah came over and greeted us warmly. She was kind, explained the sections of the store and offered assistance. She was the highlight of the store. I love walking in Ethan Allen to get inspired and see what's new. We have purchased Ethan Allen Furniture for over 25 years. We initially dealt with the store in Deptford New Jersey. Sadly, they have closed. We started buying from the Marlton store last year. We ordered furniture for our family room. A leather sectional, with large leather ottoman, side tables and a large entertainment unit. It took a lot longer to get then we expected. The sectional was delivered damaged. Since it took so long to get it and the damage was in the back where it couldn't be seen, we excepted delivery with intent to repair. Ethan Allen offered no compensation, the sectional itself was over $15,000. When the entertainment unit finally came in, it was damaged also. They told us they would repair it, but we chose not to except it. It was in the front and the repair would have been seen. We were taken back that they would even suggest that we take it. Again, offering no compensation for the damage or delay. We received a new unit a couple weeks later, after Christmas. We are moving,so we had to order a coffee table that matched our existing side tables. We ran into a problem with the measurements, so we could no longer use the coffee table. We gave them a $500 deposit. We ordered it over the phone. We didn't realize that it was a custom piece, stupid maybe, but it a square black table, didn't think it was custom. I know this is long winded, but here is my problem, we have spent a small fortune with Ethan Allen. We were not asking for a refund, maybe a modified store credit. Well you would have thought we were asking for their firstborn child. All they had to say was "I'm a little confused, you signed the contract ". Yes we did sign a contract, but their customer service on every level is obnoxious. We personally will never buy another piece of furniture from them. I will also add, that the quality of furniture is not what it used to be. read more

We bought ten pieces of furniture from this store and our experience was awful. At the time of sale, the store told us to expect delivery within four months. When that date passed, they kept telling us "two more weeks" over and over again, misrepresenting that pieces had shipped when they actually hadn't. By that time, we were passed the promised date in the sales contract. New Jersey law required them to provide a new, promised delivery date but they wouldn't. We agreed to accept late delivery in exchange for a refund of the delivery fee. They finally delivered both orders about six months after purchase, but insisted on two separate deliveries. Then they charged us the delivery fee anyway. We might buy from Ethan Allen again but never from this store. read more

I've had horrible service from this store. I ordered a leather recliner on sale on 2/21/16. When I went into the store, they claimed there was no sale. After verifying on there own website, they agreed to honor it. $2300 chair plus delivery charges. I was told 8-12 weeks for delivery. At 12 weeks I called and was told someone would call me back. They did not. 2 days later I went to the store and spoke to the same salesperson. She said the store is now a corporate store and used to be a "Blair house" Ethan Allen. This was never mentioned when they took my money. Incidentally, the store then and now have a sign that just says Ethan Allen. The charge on my card says Ethan Allen. In any event, she said she'd email Blair house and get back to me. She called 2 days later and said it would be 16 weeks total and assured me I'd have it by June 7. I have company coming June 17. Well, it's now June 13 and no communication. I truly believe they never would have called me had I not physically gone in 3 times now. So, over the weekend I called multiple times and their phone is disconnected. I drove back in today and the manager says, "we had a corporate take over of the store. We don't know the status of your order. We cannot communicate with Blair house other than by email and our internet has been down for days." I requested a refund of my $826 deposit and she said no. She stated it would be "illegal" for her to refund my card. She claims my purchase was with Blair house, although the charge receipt clearly states Ethan Allen Marlton on it. She ultimately said, "I don't know the status of your chair and I can't give you more information. If you'd like a refund I recommend disputing with your credit card company." So, I did that as soon as I arrived home. I could have easily gone to any furniture store and had a recliner by now; instead, planning ahead for arriving company with Ethan Allen was useless. I am convinced that if the product did arrive and was defective, I would get the same song and dance about it not really being their product, even though they sold it to me. I recommend Arhaus or any other store in the area. The first time my wife and I visited Ethan Allen to shop for a sectional, my wife asked if the salesperson could explain why it was priced $2000 more than other fine furniture stores, is there a difference is quality or service? The sales lady said, "then go buy that one." I should have learned my lesson from that experience. read more

Think twice before you buy your furniture here. This is the first negative review I've ever written. I believe it's always better to highlight great service, which I often do by sending a hand-written note to the manager or owner. But my experience at Ethan Allen on Rt. 73 in Marlton, as well as with the corporate representatives in Danbury, Connecticut, was so frustrating, I hope it will serve as a warning to consumers about the possibility that you will likely experience the same treatment. I saw a beautiful chair and ottoman in the window while walking to my car after having lunch at a restaurant in the same strip center. I decided to walk in, and met a wonderful and very professional designer named Pam, who turned out to be the only positive experience I had. Pam helped me invision such a great layout for my entire first floor, all based around this chair and ottoman, which by itself was well over $3000. My initial plan was to order $26,000 of furniture, but I started with about $11,000 of furniture for two rooms. The order was placed on June 30th, I received my first partial delivery on October 31. (While some of the furniture was ready earlier, I am not able to take off a full day of work each time Ethan Allen wants to deliver a few more pieces, so I asked them to deliver it once all pieces were in the warehouse). It is now December, the chair and ottoman have yet to be shipped, but I've been paying for them since July with their 0% financing. About two weeks ago the designer left me a message that it's likely my chair will never be shipped because the factory is so backed up due to the summer hurricanes, and would I like to come in and pick something else. I was beyond frustrated! I tried to reach the store manager three times but she never called me back. After trying to call the corporate office twice and getting disconnected, I finally reached a lovely operator who apologized for the phone problems they had been experiencing. I did receive a call back within a day from a customer service rep, who passed my concerns along to Jordan, the regional manager. After explaining the entire experience to Jordan, from the constant delay and eventual cancellation of the chair and ottoman, to being charged for both pieces and paying for them since July with the third party finance company (that would need to be notified of the $3000 adjustment), to delivery men that "drop and run", to the horrible quality of the loveseat that was already delivered, the first thing Jordan did was praise the Marlton store manager, whom she herself hired, and told me the store manager never got any messages from me or she would have called me back! (which basically insinuated I was lying). Amazingly Jordan was able to track down the chair and ottoman, and told me it would be delivered by the second week in December. I then asked what could be done about the loveseat (for $1275, it was so uncomfortable, they used a cheap fill and low grade scratchy fabric for what Ethan Allen calls a "quick ship".The pillows still have dent-like impressions in them and they look so bad I ended up taking them off altogether.) I even offered to order a better quality loveseat in its' place. Jordan said if the loveseat was damaged, a technician would come out to evaluate but that they won't take back furniture just because I'm not satisfied with the quality. I was shocked! Just to be sure I heard her correctly, I repeated that I had spent over $11,000 so far, and as of November 30th I still had not gotten the final key pieces of furniture, continued to pay for them anyway, and was prepared to order the remaining $15,000 of furniture once this was rectified. Jordan said again that despite all that has happened, it's not Ethan Allen's policy to accept returns and she would not make an exception. Needless to say, I told her that under these circumstances I would not be ordering any additional furniture from Ethan Allen. And amazingly, I have not received one call from anyone at the corporate level to follow up. Unbelievable. So my advice is this: if you plan to order furniture from Ethan Allen, be prepared for endless delays followed by possible cancellations, store managers that avoid customers who need their help to resolve a problem, difficulty in reaching anyone at the corporate level, and a regional manager that spends more time defending her employees than actually making a decision to keep you as a satisfied customer. And best of luck trying to get the cancelled furniture removed from the third party financing company. Finally, don't be pressured to order your furniture during an "unprecidented" 20% off sale, these sales occur quite frequently. There are other upscale furniture stores in and around Marlton with a much stronger commitment to customer service as well as the quality of their products. I know, because I ordered the remaining rooms of furniture from one and so far it's been like night and day. Lesson learned. read more
