Best experience I've ever had with computer / electronic help! I brought 2 laptops in (my old one I had been using for several years) and my new one which wasn't working as well as I had hoped (however I could've just brought in my old one and gotten it upgraded there instead of getting a new laptop had I known about this place before.) I had them check & remove any viruses & malware / spyware from each computer as well as clear the old one and switch to a Linux based operating system. They also extracted my data from the old laptop and put it on the new one and then upgraded the RAM and overall storage capacity of the Old Laptop. I brought it in to them on a Monday evening and by Tuesday afternoon the next day it was done. The owner Saeed and his staff are very friendly as well. Very satisfied! Much more personal, custom and timely experience than a place like Microcenter. Highly recommend! read more

With the caveat that I visited them with a problem I already diagnosed and which required a straightforward solution (a laptop battery replacement), I had a good experience at The Computer Store. They were clear and direct about the solution, the potential downsides, how long it would take, and the cost of parts and labor. From a purely financial standpoint, the price they quoted me for an OEM battery replacement + labor was much lower than what HP or even Micro Center. I suppose there's no way for me to verify that they used a genuine HP battery--as opposed to a lower-quality 3rd party one--unless I open my laptop, but everything is good so far and I'll update if I find out otherwise. Would definitely use them again if I have other problems with my laptop. read more

At first, I was reluctant to write about my recent disappointing experience with the Computer Store, because my two previous experiences with them have been excellent--and I posted a 5-star review on Google lauding their service. But I think it's important to be honest, and if I am misrepresenting the situation, then the Store certainly can challenge what I say. About a month ago, before my HP Laptop would log on, I was getting an error message about my cooling fan needing repair. I took the computer into the store, and James said if it was a cooling fan issue, he could get the part replaced by mid-week (2 or 3 days). The charges were estimated to be $200-250. As the week progressed and I did not hear back, I called and was treated rather indifferently, I felt. Not rude--but indifferent. The ETA for the part, they said, was unknown, and I called back and got a vague answer about the part being delayed in shipment. I would be called back when it was known. After two or three days, once again, of not being contacted, I wrote an email through their on-line "contact us" link that noted how surprised I was to be treated so indifferently--and how disappointed I was with what I thought was a company that cared about customer service. The owner called me back almost immediately, apologized, and explained that information about shipped parts was hard to obtain right now, and he promised that I would be called each day with an update. I accepted his goodwill, recognizing that many small businesses are under a lot of stress right now receiving their parts. The owner said he would adjust my charges to reflect the inconvenience, although he didn't say how much. I was called back once over the next week--and was told that the part was lost in shipment and that another one was ordered and would be in by the end of the week. It did not come in I called back at the beginning of the third week, and once again, was told the part had not come in and had to be reordered. At the end of the third week after I brought the computer in, I was notified about its completed repair. When I went to pick it up, I was told that it wasn't a cooling fan breakdown after all, but some sort of bottom panel decay that caused the cooling fan to malfunction. I was shown the panel that was replaced--and trust what they said--although I was surprised that the problem wasn't diagnosed correctly to begin with. The total charge was close to $250.00, the original estimate. And the price adjustment, was a mere $20, hardly worth the bother. (Almost insulting). Yes, the laptop was fixed and is up and running, and I am grateful. But throughout the entire process, I felt I was not kept up to date about what was happening and hardly made to feel like a well-respected customer. I am not questioning the reliability or competence of the business. They obviously do quality work. Rather, I'm pointing out that I think the way my repair work was handled and communicated to me could have been improved. Surely, every organization could use some constructive criticism once in a while about a slip up in customer service. read more

Awesome service! I chose this place because I didn't want to go to a big box store. I opted for a more personable service with an independent store and I am beyond pleased! I received direct and clear communication about what was going on each step of the way. I dropped of my touch screen acer laptop that I dropped and totally cracked the screen. It wasn't functional but, barely. The staff and owner are awesome and were clear about the turn around time and cost. When I called, they were pleasant and quick. They really respect your time. When I picked up my laptop, the staff were friendly and talkative, they were knowledge about other needs my laptop may benefit from and how I keep it running smoothly. I went here to get my motherboard replaced. They were responsive and worked with me to come up with a fair price. They also ensured all my pictures, files, etc. were saved so they could be re-uploaded once they installed Windows. Only thing that was disappointing and made the reasonable cost of service a bit null was that, when they re-installed Windows, they didn't reinstall Microsoft Office, which I got for free through my university when I was in school. Now I have to pay to put the software back on, and it's not cheap. I realize this out of their control because Office relies on serial numbers to restrict the number of PCs on which it is used. However, I just wish I had known this was going to happen prior to making the decision to go forward with the repair because my computer is pretty old and I probably could have found a new one for about the same price as the combined cost of the repair and software replacement. I just assumed that the data transfer service included it. I guess this is an example of why repairs can end up costing much more for lay persons in the end: we don't even have enough of an understanding to come up with the right questions to ask in order to make a truly informed decison. Perhaps the business could make the data transfer limitations more explicit for us tech-dummies. :) read more

My Dell hard drive crashed beyond repair. I took my computer to 2 other repair shops who told me it was beyond repair. My Dell backup couldnt even retrieve my info.
