Mrs. Michelle is an incredible therapist. We enrolled our son, Avery, in her care when he was three years old because he spoke less than 20 words and was not very articulate. We had tried another therapist, but we believed that they did not understand Avery and often became very frustrated with him. Mrs. Michelle evaluated Avery and created a plan with goals for us to track. She began working with him once a week, gently coaching him and encouraging us to practice at home. Each week, she gave us a variety of exercises to work on. We saw amazing progress as we hit each goal she had set. We worked with her for about a year before Avery started K4. My son (5 yrs. old) had great difficulty with pronouncing his words correctly. My husband and I had a hard time understanding what he said. He had speech therapy with Ms. M for about a year and a half and I cannot thank her enough for the help that she provided him. Our son (5 years old) was previously completely nonverbal. Ms. Michelle is a wonderful caring professional! I was concerned with my son's delayed speech. When I first spoke with Michelle she assessed the situation and recommended we wait a little longer to see how he developed (he was 2-1/2 at that point). I appreciated the fact that she was not quick to just take my money. Six months later, my son's progress had improved, but there was still a lot of gaps and he was becoming frustrated that we weren't understanding him. I contacted Michelle again and she recommended we definitely get him in therapy. I refer to the 30 minutes session we have each week with Ms. M as "the magic zone". Not to be taken lightly, but there is true magic that happens during that time! Each week, he leaves with confidence and skills he didn't have going into the session. My son has made such incredible progress in the past few months. He is now saying whole sentences and most all sounds, his vocabulary has improved so much that I quit writing down new words he was saying months ago. I love that I can stay with my child during the sessions. Not only has this helped my son feel comfortable, but this has been a HUGE help for me, because I have learned ways I can help my child at home, by watching Ms. M. I take these same techniques Ms. M uses in her office and use them at home. Yes, I could have received free services through the school system, my insurance actually pays for speech, but the closest professional was in Atlanta, but I chose Ms. M at The Communication Spot, because of her proven track record and her caring and professional nature!
