Schlogan (smash cheese) Burger
Doug B.

Fun option for Old Town residents, visitors, and tourists. It is slightly off the King St beaten path. Too soon for me to tell if location will be a plus or minus. The previous (bbq) place didn't make it, I think, because of the location off the beaten path. Fingers crossed. I've been twice and really enjoyed their "Chicago style" super thin crust and Schlogan Butger, a double decker slam cheese burger. Both were excellent, full of flavor, and really hit the spot. Enjoyed the tots with the burger as well as a side of bbq sauce. Both times, Derreck took care of us. 5* there. He was attentive, available, and knew the menu despite it being so new. So far, love this place. Check it out!

Ryan is a fantastic manager! Deisha is so friendly and great at her service! The dirty fried rice is spectacular!! We sat outside but the inside is great. Totally Old Town Alexandria! Come enjoy everything this new place has to offer!!

Schlogan Burger

New Best Burger in Old Town! We had an awesome evening here at The Commodore. The Schlogan Burger is the new best burger in this neighborhood. The fries are amazing (better than their tots although both were good) and we also really enjoyed the Philly cheesesteak. Some bites were perfect, others a tiny bit dry, would have liked just a little more cheese. Fried pickles were good, we liked the batter but wished they were saltier pickles. Great drinks and good vibes. Sit outside if you can, they have a nice little patio and Queen St is much quieter and more enjoyable than King. Couple of hiccups with our service (delivered the wrong drink, which was still delicious, and forgot the ketchup) but staff were very friendly, they were just having a very busy night. The poblano ranch slaps. Can't wait to come back!

My favorite bar used to be at this address 12 years ago...after it shut down I stopped going. Now The Commodore has open at 220 Lee St., gave it a try last night. LOVED everything about it. HH is 4-7. Had a delicious Chicago hot dog while we waited for friends. They have a pool table and we played darts. They have TVs, the service was great and lastly we ordered the DMV Hawaiian....pork belly, pineapple with Mambo drizzle, HIGHLY recommend. Definitely check it out!!!!!!

Negroni

New location! Really fun place! Good drinks and good beer selection. I had the Negroni, and it was fantastic. Here you can play pool, darks, arcade games, and they've got a stash of table games to the immediate right by the round table in the arcade room. Service is super friendly! Ambiance is casual and fun...great vibes here!

As a HUGE Bears fan, this was truly a treat for me and I appreciated everything from the decor to the menu. Chicago dogs? Italian beef? MY HEART! This is the perfect dive bar to catch a game and I absolutely love the environment. As a Chicago(land) native, Ivy and Coney hits home in all the right ways. Tucked away in the Shaw neighborhood, this unassuming spot is a Midwest haven in the heart of DC. Let's start with the food: the Detroit-style pizza is phenomenal. Crispy edges, generous portions (you get 8 slices!), and packed with flavor. Perfect to share! Other notable mentions included the cheese curds, smash burger, or legit Chicago-style dogs. The space itself is exactly what a dive bar should be: cozy, casual, a little rowdy when it needs to be, and full of character. The back bar with the retractable roof is a hidden gem for game days. When I visited it was a beautiful evening and having the roof retracted added a special touch! And the staff? Peak Midwest nice (IYKYK). Friendly, quick, and genuinely happy to see you. Catch me here on Mondays, Thursdays, or Sundays (i.e., whenever my team is on the screen!). Whether you're here for sports, snacks, or just the atmosphere, Ivy and Coney delivers every time. It's my new go-to spot for a slice of home, and if you're from the Midwest (or just love great food and chill vibes), it should be yours too.

We visited mid-afternoon on a Saturday and were seated in the two front booths to accommodate our party size. Unfortunately, the experience started off shaky and never really recovered. Our server, Kareem, appeared overwhelmed and disorganized from the beginning. Early in the meal, he spilled water directly into my lap. Accidents absolutely happen in restaurants, and most people understand that, but what mattered here was the lack of follow-up. I spent the remainder of the meal with the front of my pants soaked and there was no meaningful acknowledgment, apology beyond the moment, or attempt to make the situation right. Service continued to be inattentive throughout the meal. Drinks were never refilled (unless finally asked), and once our food was dropped off, it felt like we were largely forgotten unless we flagged someone down. For a restaurant with Clyde's reputation, that level of hospitality was surprising. We ordered the pretzel, Oyster Rockefeller, burgers, French toast, asparagus, and the fried trout. The food was decent overall and visually appealing, but nearly every dish felt underseasoned, as though salt and pepper had been left out of the process entirely. Nothing was bad, but very little stood out. One of the biggest issues was the seating arrangement near the entrance. Because we were placed in the front booths, guests waiting for tables were clustered directly around us for much of the meal. People were standing extremely close to our table, hovering in our dining space, and we had to ask multiple individuals to move so we could eat comfortably. That is more of a management/layout issue than a guest issue, and it noticeably impacted the experience. I understand gratuity may be included or expected with larger parties, but service should still reflect care and attentiveness. At times, it felt like the incentive to provide that level of effort simply wasn't there. I can see why Clyde's has loyal fans, and perhaps this was an off day, but between inattentive service, the uncomfortable front seating setup, and food that was just average, this visit did not live up to expectations.
