I visited on a Friday evening, we had not booked but they found us a table, first impressions are of a traditional English inn. The bar was busy with locals enjoying the range of beers, from hand pulled ales to lagers and local ciders. We were presented with menus and also offered the 'Specials' on the blackboards.
A friend went for a 10oz steak, which arrived with mushrooms, grilled tomato, chips and some fantastic home made onion rings, really crispy and light. I had a Chicken and smoky bacon pie served with a shortcrust pastry lid with Chips and vegetables, another friend tried the Omelette which was she thought would be a light option, not here at the Comet inn, it was a three egg omelette filled with Ham and Mushrooms and served with vegetables and Chips. You need to have a healthy appetite to take on the desserts following the portions of the mains, but I could not resist having a slice of 'Light and Lemony' as the name says this was a treat but not too heavy.
After dinner we joined the locals at the bar where they were playing pub games, Darts, Cards and Dominoes.
The owners Vicky and Cathy made us feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble for them.
After a great night out we will be back very soon. read more
