Pepperoni slice

Wondering how good The Combine is? It's New York style has good flavor, plenty of cheese & meat ( the right proportion ratio), crispy and the right slice size for me! The crust holds up well when you grab it up, not saggy or soggy. I find some places that offer this style do. I was able to enjoy it dining in and took some home! My mom enjoyed both the panini and potato salad. The chicken & cheese blended well for what she said was extremely flavorful.

Pizza by the slice! And big heafty slices at that!! Staff was super welcoming and friendly and the natural light drew me right in. Had some beer and wine, ordered two slices, did some people watching, and had the best time! I heard there's a rooftop patio I accidentally missed? Next time!

I honestly can't believe I haven't written this review sooner--this is my FAVORITE place to come for pizza! The food is fantastic, the vibe is chill and welcoming, and the service is always impeccable! For food, I'm a HUGE fan of the choose your own topping slice--they have a lot of toppings to choose from, and this slice is not a normal slice... It is giant. I always have leftovers, and the pizza is always so delicious! Also cannot go wrong with their bread sticks--I always add garlic and mozzarella to mine because they are so good! They have a full bar with many different beers on tap to choose from! I've had cocktails from there, and they were great! So glad this place is in my neighborhood and that it is so great! Many times a week, they have different specialized nights, so if you like live music or local markets, this is the place for you! Thanks to everyone at the Combine for being amazing. Every time I come in there, I have an amazing time chatting with the servers and learning more about our community and what's happening!

This neighborhood bar is on street level of the old wonder factory. The space is roomy and the food is solid. The pizza is sold by the slice or whole pie. Slices are big. Prices are affordable. Salads, Sammies , soda and dessert are also in the menu. Drinks are strong. Daily $5 specials. Thursdays are game night - spades, dominos and Uno. On the night I went, the players seemed intense. Lots of big screen tvs. Down side - Combine closes at 9 pm during the week and 10 pm on Friday/Saturday. Upside - the rooftop bar has great views of the city and cool backdrop for selfies. The actual bar is not open but you can go up and play games or just chill. Owner said he'll reopen the rooftop soon. Can't wait because the space is so cool! It'd be perfect for a day party. Hint. Hint.

Kale Salad with a flavored vinaigrette

Decided to try a new spot for lunch with a co-worker. She suggested the Combine because who doesn't like a good slice of pizza. I will first say I was very pleased to be able to walk in a lunch and grab a seat for 2 right away. So I'm a newbie and asked our server for suggestions. He obliged and suggested, of course, a slice of pizza or the turkey melt. Had no clue they had a lunch special, which came with a slice of pizza and a side salad !! For me, the side said was more Kale than toppings. I will say the vinigarette complimented it well. I ate a couple of bites, but because the Kale was overwhelming, I couldn't finish it. As for the pizza, I will say if you are a pizza lover, you will want to check the Combine out. I am not a lover of pizza, but they have many options available. The slice was a really big portion, crust was thin and crispy, and toppings tasted fresh. I hear they host really good Chiefs tailgate parties as well GO CHIEFS !!!!

The food and pizza were fine. I think the pizza is your average type pizza. We had the slices which I do think are kind of pricey. The venue is nice.

Went for the Caesar. Very disappointing. I wanted it colder, which might just be from inattentive waitstaff, but wilty lettuce will never impress. We had just a few minutes to eat and run and they boxed our pizza to go as their recommendation. It was good. Good vibes. We liked the music and the low key feel.

I was excited to check out this place, my bookclub picked this to be our lunch meeting. It was 8 of us older ladies. Great space and gave us plenty of room. The art was nice to see they were selling local artists work. The food was ok. I could tell they were short staffed. One server for the whole place. The naked wings were done and ok. Nothing special, one lady order the turkey club it comes dry so you must ask for condiments mayo or mustered. The salads the other ladies order were very good and well presented the Ruben was ok she said it missed that nice pickle slice that you get at most deli's

Deluxe Grilled Cheese and Coleslaw

The Combine is a great spot for a casual lunch or an evening out with friends. The food was great. I had the Deluxe Grilled Cheese, which included granny smith apples, giving it a tart kick. The prices felt refreshingly affordable. We went at lunchtime and it was surprisingly empty. The Combine offers table service, which may make sense for a busy evening, but for lunch, I would have preferred to order at the counter and bring a number to my table. The Combine is huge - with tall loft-like ceilings, exposed brick walls, and huge windows. It'd make a great event space. It is located in the "Wonder Building," which includes apartments, a coffee shop, and a pinball arcade. I am slightly jealous of the residents that get to have this fun restaurant/bar directly downstairs.

The Combine is located in The Wonder {Shops & Flats} which used to be a Wonder Bread Factory. It's a nice open space with large arched windows and exposed brick walls. There are multiple seating options - bar seating, high tops, booths, long tables, and couches - all within view of multiple TVs. It's definitely a great spot to hang out with friends and watch a game. Given the set-up I think it would make sense to be the whole order-at-the-counter + deliver-to-the-number kind of set up. Only having been once, I'm not sure what the SOP is - there are soda machines accessible to customers, and a counter you can order and pay at, but we had someone take our order at the table and check-in occasionally. It was that situation where, when you're done eating, you sit there discussing with your group that maybe the reason you don't have the check yet is because you're supposed to pay at the counter. The Combine primarily has sandwiches and pizza but I ordered the Hummus Plate. I always appreciate this as an option and it was delicious, though the carrots were quite thicc so I had to Bugs Bunny my way through The prices are great - very reasonable for the quality and portion size. Overall, a positive experience and will be returning.

Holy...OMG. Come here, come here, come here…read more By some spark of light and luck we start the Valentines Day evening here. Drinks we got: - No Fly Zone - Off the Rails - Mr. Collage - Mescal Espresso Martini I got a cocktail caviar bump which - YES! Appetizer burritos complimented everything. We didn't have a reservation, but they were able to sneak us in, and I couldn't be happier!! You must come here.

I've driven past the Fern Bar countless times, but had never stopped in. Truthfully, I knew next to…read morenothing about it. That changed yesterday, when Diana Condori, the bar manager, was named a 2026 James Beard Outstanding Professional in Cocktail Service semifinalist. As we love supporting restaurants and bars that receive that kind of recognition, my wife and I headed to Fern Bar that evening. I was especially curious what exactly a "sugarcane and agave bar" meant. We arrived around 5:30pm and found only a handful of guests inside. After congratulating the bartender who first served us, he mentioned that Diana was working that night and would stop by to meet us. During our conversation, Diana shared that she didn't even know she had been nominated. She woke up Tuesday to a call from owner Bryan Arri, who said he had big news and was coming over. Her first thought was that something terrible had happened--like the bar had burned down. Instead, he showed up with coffee and told her she was a James Beard honoree. Diana is originally from Bolivia and has lived in Kansas City most of her life, with the exception of time spent in San Francisco during the pandemic. She further refined her cocktail craft through local pop-ups in Kansas City under the name Condor's Cove. When Bryan was preparing to open Fern Bar, he reached out to bring her onto the team. The printed cocktail menu immediately reminded me of the Monarch and the Mercury Room--not surprising given Bryan's background at Manifesto and the Monarch. Thoughtful, intentional, and clearly designed for people who appreciate serious cocktails. We planned on having one or two drinks but ended up staying for three, thanks to an outstanding lineup and a memorable conversation with Diana. We tasted: * No Fly Zone - Rum, agave, pineapple foam * Mr. Collage - Smooth, elegant, egg-white cocktail * Three Negroni Lunch - Bitter, boozy, and beautifully balanced * Pendergast No. 4 - Complex and spirit-driven * It's Bananas - Banana liqueur with bright tropical notes * Off the Rails - Creative and well-executed rum/agave cocktail One downside of many cocktail-forward bars is the lack of food, but Fern Bar offers two varieties of mini burritos for $4--just enough protein to keep things balanced while indulging. Great concept, exceptional service, and truly memorable drinks. Check it out--and be sure to say hello to Diana.

Our server was excellent--super friendly, attentive, and even recommended a beautiful and delicious cocktail that paired perfectly with our dinner. We went all out and sampled a ton from the menu: fried lobster tail, pepperoni pizza, spicy tuna roll, salmon roll, wagyu Nagiri, oysters with caviar, and wagyu sliders. Most of the food was absolutely delicious! The sushi rolls stood out with their unique flavors and beautiful presentation--what a nice surprise. Our absolute favorites were the wagyu nagiri (melt-in-your-mouth incredible) and the oysters with caviar. The wagyu sliders were also a hit. That said, the fried lobster tail was a bit of a letdown--chewy and lacking the flavor punch that everything else delivered. The atmosphere is lively and fun, but heads up: it gets very loud. We were at one of those tiny cocktail tables and basically had to yell across it to chat, which made conversation a challenge during dinner. On the bright side, we scored an amazing seat with a stunning view of the Plaza. Watching the sunset while eating was magical and made the whole experience feel extra special for a birthday. Overall, great food (with just a couple minor misses), awesome vibes, top-notch service, and that unbeatable rooftop setting. I'd definitely recommend Prime Social and we'd go back in a heartbeat--maybe just bring earplugs if you're planning to talk a lot! 4 stars.
