I visited for R&B Bingo and got there early to grab some food. When I walked in, I wasn't sure how ordering worked. It wasn't clear whether I should order at the counter first or find a seat and wait for a server, so I decided to order at the counter. I had a slice of the Cowtown Lovers pizza. It was okay, it was full of toppings, but didn't seem very fresh, it tasted like it had been reheated. I also had to go up to the bar to order drinks since no one came to our table until after bingo had started. Wondering how good The Combine is? It's New York style has good flavor, plenty of cheese & meat ( the right proportion ratio), crispy and the right slice size for me! Found this little spot to do some work while waiting to pick up GF. No WIFI, my only complaint. I ordered a slice (which was the size of a small pizza!). The server recommended the Cowtown when I told her I liked lots of meat. Very good and well seasoned and a great crust. That, and a cold beer on tap made a great quick lunch. You can't really beat a 6.50$ massive slice of pizza with 5 toppings of your choice. And I do mean massive! A really cool pizza joint with an incredibly friendly staff. Thursdays they have open mic night so you get some pretty unique entertainment to hangout and see. The Combine is on my and my partners regular rotation for a casual, relaxing evening out. The food is fantastic, the vibe is chill and welcoming, and the service is always impeccable! For food, I'm a HUGE fan of the choose your own topping slice--they have a lot of toppings to choose from, and this slice is not a normal slice... It is giant. I always have leftovers, and the pizza is always so delicious! Also cannot go wrong with their bread sticks--I always add garlic and mozzarella to mine because they are so good! They have a full bar with many different beers on tap to choose from! I've had cocktails from there, and they were great! So glad this place is in my neighborhood and that it is so great! Decided to try a new spot for lunch with a co-worker. She suggested the Combine because who doesn't like a good slice of pizza. I will first say I was very pleased to be able to walk in a lunch and grab a seat for 2 right away. So I'm a newbie and asked our server for suggestions. He obliged and suggested, of course, a slice of pizza or the turkey melt. Had no clue they had a lunch special, which came with a slice of pizza and a side salad !! For me, the side said was more Kale than toppings. I will say the vinigarette complimented it well. I ate a couple of bites, but because the Kale was overwhelming, I couldn't finish it. As for the pizza, I will say if you are a pizza lover, you will want to check the Combine out. I am not a lover of pizza, but they have many options available. Came here for lunch with a group of about 10. The space was clean and big and not busy at the time. We ordered together as a group and I think that's where things kinda got a little confusing. Our waitress was nice and did her job well. Once all of the food came out and people starting eating, the last meal we were waiting for....they didn't have it, we just wish we would have known sooner than after everyone already started eating and the rest of the food was served. The Combine is a great spot for a casual lunch or an evening out with friends. The food was great. I had the Deluxe Grilled Cheese, which included granny smith apples, giving it a tart kick. The prices felt refreshingly affordable. We went at lunchtime and it was surprisingly empty. The Combine offers table service, which may make sense for a busy evening, but for lunch, I would have preferred to order at the counter and bring a number to my table. The Combine is huge - with tall loft-like ceilings, exposed brick walls, and huge windows. It'd make a great event space. It is located in the "Wonder Building," which includes apartments, a coffee shop, and a pinball arcade. The Combine is located in The Wonder {Shops & Flats} which used to be a Wonder Bread Factory. It's a nice open space with large arched windows and exposed brick walls. There are multiple seating options - bar seating, high tops, booths, long tables, and couches - all within view of multiple TVs. It's definitely a great spot to hang out with friends and watch a game. Given the set-up I think it would make sense to be the whole order-at-the-counter + deliver-to-the-number kind of set up. Only having been once, I'm not sure what the SOP is - there are soda machines accessible to customers, and a counter you can order and pay at, but we had someone take our order at the table and check-in occasionally. It was that situation where, when you're done eating, you sit there discussing with your group that maybe the reason you don't have the check yet is because you're supposed to pay at the counter. The Combine primarily has sandwiches and pizza but I ordered the Hummus Plate. I always appreciate this as an option and it was delicious, though the carrots were quite thicc so I had to Bugs Bunny my way through The prices are great - very reasonable for the quality and portion size. I went to "The Combine" for the first time in the early afternoon on Aprill 11th. I have a great experience. I ordered the lunch special that came with a salad, large slice of pizza and a drink. The ranch salad dressing was really good, the combination pizza I had was great because they were generous with the toppings. I enjoyed the ice tea as well because they topped it off with a slice of lemon. The ambiance was awesome. I could watch "The Masters" and at the same time watch basketball highlights. Misleading! My goals is to visit a new place to eat once per week and this week's was the Combine KC, a pizza bar that I had heard things about. Since I was alone, I decided to get a slice as well as a bag of chips, incase it was a small piece. Looking at the menu, it was VERY expensive at $7 (for a slice!?). For the pizza, a bag of Voodoo chips and a pop, it cost $15 with $3 tip. But I was misled. Their definition of a slice would be the equivalent to a small personal pizza at a place like Spin! It was massive and I didn't get a chance to eat the chips, as I was so full. The pizza is typical of what I call the KC style. A mid-rise pizza with a crisp crust and a pillowy top layer. The toppings were extremely fresh and things like onions and the peppers still had a crisp crunch to them, while being fully cooked. The cheese was also very good and unlike New York Style pizza, where the mozzerella is flat and greasy (which I love btw), this cheese is almost ricotta like in it's fluffiness. I barely tasted any grease. While the pizza is a little light on the sauce, it was very good. When people think of pizza, they often think of Minsky's or a joint in Waldo, but this place, in my opinion, has them both down. For KC pizza, this place is top-notch. Just stop calling it a slice! read more

We were on our explore the Secrets of Kansas City outing and always start with a place we haven't eaten lunch yet so that's how we decided upon The Combine. We enjoyed our meals and drinks. Prices were right & the quantity of food was spot on. We weren't worn out with welcoming service. After a brief moment in line we were told we could sit at a table and get fill table service. Can't believe this place has been open since November and I'm just now hearing about it ! Super chill and down to earth type or place. You walk in and get to seat yourself and someone comes up. The place had two different seating areas, plus a little ally with pin ball machines. Food: We had a 14 inch "CowTown Lovers" and it was most def enough to feed at least 3. I enjoyed the fact that it was toppings heavy rather than saucy. It was thin crust style, but wasn't like too thin where you don't have any crust. The pizza came out warm and cheese stringy *heart eyes*. The breadsticks were thick, and we had both mozzarella and garlic on it... the garlic was strong! But I didn't mind. This allowed me to have a light lunch as well as try out their pizza before going all in. I called in my order which consisted of a slice of cheese pizza, cheese tots and a side of potato salad (random, I know). The potato salad was nothing out of the ordinary, but it was a good potato salad. The tots were different than your average tots. It was something about the batter that made them different, but in a good way. I liked that they served the cheese on the side for the to-go order to prevent them from being soggy. The pizza.....ohhhh, the pizza. The cheese slice was HUGE. It was cut into scares, so I was able to enjoy bite size pieces of the deliciousness. I literally wanted to call back and order another slice right on the spot. The crust, the sauce and the amount of cheese was perfect. This will be my go-to for pizza because it's so good and so close to my home. As far as the restaurant, it's a pretty big space and they have a huge menu on the wall as soon as you walk in. They offer both liquor and beer on tap as well as wine. In addition to the eating/sitting area, they also have access to the rooftop and you can rent their space out for events. This place was cool. Stopped in on a Thursday evening with 2 friends. Very clean, staff greeted us right away. Had a laid back vibe. The bar isn't very big and most of the seats were taken. The dining area was empty but there is another side that had a few people having game night. They were playing spades and dominoes. They had a $5 drink special, it was something with grapefruit vodka and it was good! We each ordered a slice of pizza, they are huge and delicious. I also had a side salad and a friend ordered the kale one. Food and drinks were good, service was pretty good, the crowd was I would say would range from 30s to 60s maybe, but could change daily I'm sure. Went to The Combine for dinner before seeing theater at Crown Center. Love this place with its industrial vibe, upscale laid back setting. Excellent drink menu with lots of speciality cocktails, great beer options and wine, too. Started off with a good glass of Cabernet and side salads for everyone and they are enormous with loads to toppings. So fresh! We had garlic cheese bread and the marinara was chunky and piping hot for dipping. We ended with the Highway Special pizza, 18" and it was enormous, steaming and delicious! The sauce is so good, tons of melted cheese and loaded with toppings. Love the chewy crust that lets you bend the slice and eat it like NYC pizza! This place will welcome you in like you're home.
