If you like getting hot , sweaty , and dirty this is the fun run for you. 3 miles of multi colored dust clouds, tutu's, and unicorns. Fun people watching, good fun exercise , colorful after party, and a unicorn finishing metal! Various vendors have booths though the turnout was not quite as large as I would have liked.

Super fun run for ALL AGES! You have to complete the run within 3 hours, but believe me when I say "no pressure." You can run the whole 3 miles or walk the whole entire time. Babies to adults do this run! It's definitely a family run. As for getting colored, you can choose to get power thrown at you or not. They will tell everyone at the beginning of the race how to avoid getting dirty. I would definitely do this again! It is a mess, but the experience is pretty awesome! Tip: make sure to have beach towels set & laid all over your car to avoid the power getting everywhere!

The Color Run was awesome! Non-competitive and a short 5k! All about getting out and having silly, colorful fun!!! You and your friends can dress up in matching penguin costumes if you wanted to and it's all still part of the festivities! You got goodies at registration which included a shirt and sweatband to wear and collect as much color on those bad boys to create your very own gear to remember the event. With that been said, I really can't imagine why anyone could rate the run less than 5 stars. Whether you thought the event was unorganized, or too many people were walking instead of running, it's 5 stars across the board if you had fun!!! BOTTOM LINE. I would definitely encourage kiddos of all ages to join as well. Just make sure to take the proper precautions and ask the staff at the time of registration if you're unsure of how to prepare. Sunglasses and something to cover your mouth so you don't inhale too much colored corn starch is also recommended. And if you wanna check out the last run in SD here's the link. Have fun in color!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q2a4wTLWUZc

The Happiest Run! YES It IS! I participated in The Color Run in Honolulu last year. It was good time for all involved. Be prepared to be blasted with colored powder! The event is like a festival of fun. You run to the color stations and get your Colors on. (additional color packets are available for purchase) ** note certain parts of your body could end up in a smurflike hue after the run** Overall the event is well organized. From the packet pick up to the days events. Parking was available for free at Qualcomm. Arrive early for the parking. I am down to do the next run..why not!? Its a pass to be able to throw powder and people..no brainer folks! LOL step out and do The Color Run, you'll have fun!

Drenched with color at the after run party. We could barely breath and see but fun.

In the morning it was packed trying to get into the stadium but that is just usual Qualcomm events. We had a great time at the run. It was my first 5k. Some of the stations such as yellow weren't very good at throwing color but other stations made up for it. The run is in the Qualcomm parking lot so there is no awesome scenery or anything. Nonetheless, everyone is energetic which makes for a good time. The staff is super nice. When you're ready to leave there are also people at the Shout station who will blow the powder off your body with ....leaf blowers? There are lots of walkers and runners. My friend said it was 3 miles instead of a 5k from when she tracked it on her phone. It will take soap, water, and shampoo to remove the powder from your body. I had green hands when I just tried to wipe it off with water before running to go get food. I didn't have an issue shampooing it out of my hair but my hair is black. Overall I think it's a great event to bring your kids, friends, and the rest of the family.

I signed up for the 9:00am slot for this event with a group of friends back in May for the discounted price of $35 and finally had the chance to do the Color Run yesterday. Result: It was the happiest 5k on the planet just like how the Color Run advertised it. I woke up at 5:30am, started the drive from Los Angeles at 5:50am and got to the Qualcomm Stdium parking lot at around 8:15am (Parking was free). There were 6 lines for the check-in and they were all super long, but good thing the staff were all very efficient so it didn't take before checking in and getting the goodies. The run started right on time at 9:00am and there were probably over 10,000 of people there all dress in white. They let people went in about a wave of 1,500. For the entire run, there were 4 color stations and two water station (middle and end). There was also a happy wall that you can write stuff on. After about 45 minutes of running, walking and picture taking (the race isn't timed), we finally got to the finish line filled with color powder. Within minutes, there was also a color throwing party nearby. Basically everyone threw his or her given color powder up in the air to create a rainbow like effect which was extremely pretty. Color Run Party: http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/the-color-run-san-diego?select=nns4yKNKO-FmJva8t1WE2g#nns4yKNKO-FmJva8t1WE2g My friends and I hang out around the booths for a bit while getting some free promotional stuff. Since we left pretty late (around 12:00pm), getting out of the stadium took under a minute. In the end, all of us had such a great time here. I am definitely looking forward to the next year run.

The Color Walk (yes, Walk) is the perfect starter 5k. It is not competitive AT ALL, the price is low ($35 early bird), and overall it's a lot of fun (thus, the "World's happiest 5k" or whatever the tagline is). Do note that the powdered color does get everywhere, but despite the intial scare of srubbing my Avatar-esque hands with sink soap and seeing no difference, all of the color washed out fairly easily and was gone by night (save some blue snot the next morning... yay!). In terms of clothing, it took a couple washes, but all of the color also came out of my Color Run shirt, and after a couple runs my kicks look fine. What I did not appreciate though was breathing in a cloud of dust while running through the first color zone (cue gag reflex). Make sure you bring sunglasses and something to cover your mouth (as was mentioned in the pre-race doc, which I chose to ignore) if you think you may be color-powder adverse, like me. Ultimately, I would recommend doing the Color Run at least once for the experience, and doing it with a bunch of friends... I'd imagine it's slightly awkward and not as fun gleefully throwing handfuls of color at strangers, and there's no one to get your dance on with at the mini concert at the end.

The Color Run is one of my favorite 5k's mainly because you get pummeled with dye. You head in clean and come out... colorful! The gear they hand out hear is better than other runs as well. I can usually get all the dyes out of my clothing by the second wash, if not the first. They do a great job getting the crowd pumped at the start and at the checkpoints. The party at the end is not that awesome but better than other 5k's. Food and clean up is descent as well. The only thing I have to knock on is the limited water stations and placement of them. My last run saw only 2 stations that were very close together so crowding was a bit hectic. More color stations wouldn't be such a bad idea as well. Overall, if there is a fun run you should try out at least once, it's the Color Run. Definitely a good event to go to, not to crazy but not lame either.

we were really sweaty and the color just mixed in with our sweat drops and intermingled into a muddy brown looking color....

2 of 12 in 2016 - DONE!!!…read more Who runs 2 1/2 marathons in 6 days... I DO!!! I earned my "Concrete" Mermaid Athlete status. My friends always call me a mermaid because I love the waters. I thought the Mermaid Series 1/2 Marathon and the pink mermaid medal was fitting for my wall of medals. I had originally signed up for the 10k 6 miles because 6 days prior to this race I just ran the Run Surf City 1/2 Marathon and in 3 weeks will be running the San Diego 1/2 Marathon. Never ran a race back to back but said there's a first for everything so less than 12hrs before start I had asked to switch to a 1/2 marathon (since my body fully recovered quickly) - why not!!! THE EXPO. There really wasn't one. Just a bib pick up at Sports Authority. THE COURSE. The race is on a Saturday morning. After a long week and having to wake up early in the M was a brutal awakening. No PRs just #sexypace. Started out cold and foggy. But appreciate the cold because by mile 5 the sun will be beaming. It was around mission beach park. Parking was hideous. Think about it, the start line and finish line are a mile away from each other and you can either park at the finish line and walk an extra mile back to your car OR you can park near the finish line and walk a mile before running 13.1 miles. There's no shuttle service!!! Choose wisely. The path ways were basically the park paths and side walks. Expect some crowding, especially when you catch up to pacer groups and they block the pathway and you can't get around them. The course is relatively flat with itty bitty unnoticeable inclines around mile 2-4. Mile 5-7 goes by quickly. Mile 8 was a clustered path and you are using mile 10s water station as mile 8s water station - not a good idea because you have to cross the course and get into the ways of mile 10 runners to get a cup of water. Mile 8-9 probably the hardest miles of this course. And the worst part, the hammer head gel espresso flavor on the tables were the nastiest gels I ever had. I had the squirts the rest of the day.... terrible!!! The rest of the way to the finish line you are running on a side walk and by then many locals are entering the park so your sharing a side walk with a lot of others runners and park visitors. And at the end they are having the kid dash on the same path as the finish so as you are running the last 100 yards there's kids and people dashing towards you (that was kind of weird and very disorganized). But overall I'm happy I ran the 1/2. San Diego people are so friendly... A lot of people smiled at me on the course, had conversation with me, etc. cracking up when homegirl and I ran past a volunteer that looked grumpy and didn't want to be there and she said "smile girl" and the volunteer still just stared at us. Hilarious! Anyhow this was a fun run with great people. THE AFTERMATH. Several tents set up for small snacks and drinks and a lot of merchandise on sale. They were serving green bananas. You know how important potassium is after running 13.1 miles and they serve GREEN BANANAS, yuck. But I received my medal and my mermaid necklace... I finished my 1/2 marathon and beat my time from 6 days ago by 5 minutes with no injury. Next race in 3 weeks :)

Sunday was race day and the 5k (3.2 mi) started at 645 am while the 15k (9.3 mi) started at 745am at K street in Downtown San Diego right next to Petco Park. The race was well organized with live music and photographers taking pictures. As for the course it was one of the funnest courses I have ran with hills on top of hills. As I runner you always have to remember what must go up must come down! The course was well managed with volunteers giving out electrolytes, water, and of course sweet treats such as chocolates and gummies every couple of miles. I remember last year, there was this lady looking for her son. I guess he was taken the night before. She was on the side asking runners if anyone has seen a little boy; it was quite the downer. On race day, which was on a Sunday, the run for the Half Marathon started at 650 am. The Half Marathon or 13.1 miles course had a beautiful layout that started by the convention center, bringing you up through the Embarcadero to Harbor Island and through Point Loma. The course was a nice flat course until mile 9, where you are running up Washington Hill, gaining elevation into Hillcrest and throughout Balboa Park finishing in the Gaslamp. When we finished the race, we were giving our medals or bling and were handed a goodie bag with a Monster, crackers, and a protein bar. They were even handing out chocolate milk, water, and bananas. They had photographers on-site taking pictures and a small after party in the park aside from the finish line. This was absolutely my favorite race I have run, and I had a blast doing it. The course was perfect and well organized. They had volunteers handing out water and Gatorade approximately every 2 miles. They had porter pottys all throughout the course, and the crowd was very motivating. I'm looking forward to come-back and doing the exact race next year as well since I had an amazing experience. With all the Turkey Trots around San Diego, this one is the only one that gave out a finishers medal at the end. Though the medals were the same for the 5k, 10k ,and 15k the ribbon was a different color. No biggie. The bib pick up was in the same place the day before. Because it got dark, they had to set up lights for people to find their names, sign the liability sheet and pick up their goodie bag which consisted your tshirt. Other than that, there was nothing else in there but a coupon. The day of the run was simple. There were two white signs that said start and orange cones that lead the running path. Parking was tricky since there are several parking lots around the park. They started the 15k people at 8am and then let the other runners go 5 mins later so not everyone bunched up in one area. But you had some faster runners in the 5k who caught up the 15kers pretty fast. The course was a mix of wet grass, dirt trail and concrete. The runners started thinning out by the first mile and there was only one water station along the way for the 5k course. As for the 10k and 15k, I'm not sure if there was any more water stations but it was not expected to be hills! My only suggestions to improve this race is to have mile markers. There was none along the way and folks who never ran the course have no idea where or how far we were from the finish line. And an elevation chart would be great too for those running the 10k/15k. The timing for the course came out the same day which was great and there were plenty of snacks and water to replenish after the race.
