I went to the salon for a long overdue root touchup and highlight touch up. After consulting we decided to do balayage. The hairdresser Kayla told me that she had to glaze my hair two different ways, melt my roots as they call it and whatever else. The total was going to be $370 which I was more than happy to pay as long as I walked out of there with what we had discussed. Instead 4 hours later, I leave with a black route, a band of color right under the route that is green and then the rest a very light bleached out color with the ends green again. I called the salon owner and she invited me back to fix it. I had to leave work early the next day, drive 35 minutes, spend another two hours for a different hairdresser to fix it. The second hairdresser Rachel did a good job repairing the mosh posh of crap that the previous stylist did. However after 6 1/2 hours, two days, and $350, I am completely dissatisfied with my hair. It is nowhere near what I wanted it to be. It has about four different shades of blonde in it and as of last night it was completely damaged, frizzy and would not curl. The owners solution was to offer me my next service (of adding highlights to my hair in order to ATTEMPT to get it to what I originally requested) for free. Meanwhile I never want to step foot in that salon again. So I'm left with spending the money to look a certain way but needing to now walk around for two weeks dissatisfied and then go pay someone else to accomplish the original goal. To say that I am beyond disgusted is an understatement. The young lady that owns the salon needs to go back to get a second- degree in customer relations and go to cosmetology school so that at the very least she knows what questions and expectations to have of the hairdressers she hires. read more

Had my appointment with Kayla! She was amazing, very friendly and cheerful. I have a lot of hair, let me correct that; I have SO MUCH FINE HAIR :) she took her time doing both the lowlights and highlights just right and than cutting just enough so it doesn't look short. My hair looks so good, and feels so healthy. The color combo she put together for me is so dreamy! I got so many compliments the next day. The salon is very pretty and clean. The ambiance is superb-trendy music, beautiful atmosphere, & clean! The woman at the front desk is super polite and helpful. My stylist Kayla- she truly cares about her clients and gets to know them. I had a consultation about a month prior and expressed my wants and she remembered everything we talked about and really consulted me as if my hair was her own. Walked in here thinking the more money you pay the better the service and to do what I actually wanted.. I have dark brown hair and I put balayage Carmel high lights in my hair and I wanted to go back to my natural color. The lady didn't really inform me on what permanent dye was or really anything I wasn't planning on dying my whole head I just wanted to tone down the strips of Carmel. I just took her word because I figured that it was an easy fix. Number one she leaves the dye in for 60 minutes. You don't leave dye in for longer than 40 min. That's a known fact and you don't have to be a hair stylists to know that. Number 2 the worst part of all this isn't dark brown this is PURE BLACKKK!!! For the money I paid and for her to make my hair literally black is so frustrating. You know black hair is maintenance constantly and hard to get out if I ever wanted to change my hair color and on top of it ITS PERMANENT AND SHE GAVE ME NO BACK GROUND ON WHAT THAT IS OR WHAT I COULD DO AROUND THAT LIKE A GLAZE!!!! So my wife goes to the color room and gets Seated with Travis. She goes in for a trim low lights and a glaze. She was between a 10 and 11 level blonde and made it abundantly clear she did not want to go darker. I guess the guy didnt listen or heard what he wanted to hear because she comes home upset and way darker then when she went in. She paid 300 plus tip for something she absolutely doesn't like. I told her to call them and get some money back for what they did and I was informed they would set her up with someone else who if fact would need to be tipped as well. Females pay crazy amounts of money for their hair and with that being said it should look exactly how they want it. So I guess the moral of the story is if you go here and they give you a random color you didn't ask for for 300 bucks. Your basically stuck w it unless you wanna beat on your hair and pay more money. Horrible business Model and do not work at all with their customers financially. I'm sick to my stomach that they charged my wife so much for something she doesn't even like. Ridiculous. Also you will see going in there everything about price is sketchy. You will walk out feeling you just got robbed. This isn't the first time this has happened. My wife's best friend went back 3 times after they messed her head up 3 times and she had to pay something everytime. This place doesn't deserve customers because all they do is rip them off. I've been going to Lindsay Miller at the color room for about three years now. She took me from a dark brown to platinum blonde. The process took a long time, but she did it in stages and with care as not to damage my hair. My hair is very thin and fragile as is, so becoming a blonde was a difficult task. She did a fantastic job! Not only is she a great colorist, but she's been doing my extensions for about 2 years now as well. We achieved the volume, length, and color i wanted all while keeping a healthy head of hair! 10/10 would recommend! read more

It truly feels like home and you are taken care of from the second you walk in the door. The staff seem genuinely excited to learn new ways to give the very best results to their clients. I have noticed this as they continuously go in to the salon extra for education which is frequently brought in from outside sources like bumble and bumble, etc. they even travel out of state such as to NYC for conferences/teaching seminars allowing them to bring back their expertise to on the latest techniques and current products. No one wants an outdated salon or stylist and The color room is one step ahead. I started off coming for the unlimited blow out membership that they offer (another new trend). This type of service is popular in bigger cities or out on the west coast but was one of the first services the color room advertised, to me proving they were already on top of what's "in" right now. Since that day, I've become a regular I guess you could say coming in multiple times a week. A relationship with the staff quickly developed and they have been able to personally get to know what I look for in my hair. The term "full service hair salon" should not be taken lightly as they look at your hair from a holistic perspective from cuts to style , color, conditioning treatments I might need when my hair feels dry to them, glazes, touch ups, they get to know you and will steer you in the right direction and make suggestions that have yet to fail me. I should add that my blow out membership allows me to just pop in and get various types of braids real quick when I am on the run. I was a bit nervous about coming here because I'm pretty particular about my hair. After reading all the reviews I decided to give it a go. I came in wanting a very natural, very subtle balayage. I showed multiple pictures of what I wanted. I informed the stylist that I have very thin hair, that it lightens very easily and that I really wanted these highlights to have a sun kissed natural look. What I ended up with was a head of over processed extremely yellow blonde highlights. Not pleased with it, I came back the next day to have it covered. They were very accommodating and squeezed me in last minute, and didn't charge me for it. Which is why I'm giving this review two stars instead of one. However my hair is absolutely ruined, still. The color they put over the blonde hasn't even lasted a week. Not to mention the integrity of my hair seems to be shot. It's extremely dry, and looks constantly frizzy. I'm upset because it definitely was not cheap, and what I got was not at ALL what I asked for. I'm not trying to be rude or offensive; but if as a stylist you're not capable of achieving a certain look that a client desires, than you should be up front and honest about it. Aside from the fact that the stylists were all very nice and personable and accommodating, I will not be returning. I have been to this salon, I would say about 4 times, for a blowout. I've never felt overly welcomed by the staff, the front desk receptionist is not all that friendly. I was impressed with my blowout maybe twice. I really wanted to love this place because it is convenient to my home, but for $40, I am expecting a great blowout. The last time I was there, I specifically asked for curl, body, and volume. Fortunately, I was blessed with great, thick hair, that curls amazingly, so I know how good a blowout can look for my hair. I was SO disappointed. The blowdryer was cold, and my hair turned out frizzy, barely curled, and still damp! I don't think i'll return. read more

I went to the color room for color correction.From the time I called to get an appointment it was just a great experience. Speaking of experience I was lucky enough to get Rachael, she was the most meticulous hair stylist I have ever had.She took my hair from bright yellow orange to platinum. I never saw anyone care so much about getting every hair brought up to the right color. I was there for quite a long while and I saw people come and go all day,all leaving happy and their hair looking great.
