Tommy's is one of the best places in the city to get a gel manicure. Although the location isn't convenient without a car, prices are awesome. All of the nail techs are great and I love the way they shape and paint my natural nails, soaking off my old polish with acetone wraps on each finger until they have mostly flaked off instead of using the harsh electric buffer like some places do. My mani always lasts 2 weeks with minimal chipping. I only come here for manicures but my girlfriend says the hair cuts and massages are a great deal too. The only reason I gave them 4 stars is because sometimes I feel like I'm being shuffled around between techs to fit the flow of whatever their method is to maximize tips and am sometimes waiting with walkins even though I am a regular with an appointment. Maybe that's not what's happening but the people who work just here aren't great at the "triage" aspect of customer service. Nevertheless, Tommy's remains my jam and I will continue to be a regular patron until I find another place as cheap and as good. read more

I've been going to Tommy's since at least 2010, so please understand how it pains me to leave such a negative review. I got my hair cut by Addison, he curled it during the blowout, and I was in love with how it looked. Fast forward a couple weeks, I decide to straighten my hair. Keep in mind, my natural hair is curly and it was curled after the initial cut, so up until this point I had never been able to see the unevenness. When my hair is straight, as you can see in the picture, it is clear that I've had an absolute hack job done to my hair. I just actually don't understand how the hell the haircut ended up like that and how he saw this as an acceptable finished product. I asked for long layers and this is what I got. My shortest layer, as well, is completely uneven, which you can see. I truly don't understand how this happened. How does a haircut come out so.. bad? read more

I'm almost afraid to post this review as I don't want everyone in the city to know about this hidden GEM. Tommy's Salon is located in the strip mall by WaWa on Columbus Blvd. They offer hair cuts, color, highlights, messages, make-up, and nails for men and women. They are open 7 days a week and you never have to make an appointment. Their prices are VERY reasonable and even have an on going special of 20% hair services on every Monday and Tuesday. Their employees are super sweet and I always leave feeling like a million bucks! Ben is my usual stylist. My whole family now goes to Tommy's Salon! read more

I went in and got a regular pedicure for $20, which is a very good price generally speaking. I paid the $10 extra for the additional 10 minute foot massage. Everything was great. I am only giving this one star because of the lady who washed my hair and the great massage she gave me after. As of the haircut I got I wouldn't even give that one star if it was up to me. The young guy who cut my hair did a terrible job, he took the thinning shears and really chopped my hair up. My hair is so uneven that I can't even do anything with it except wait for it to grow back. This is the first time I have ever had a problem at this salon but unfortunately I will not be returning. read more

Really liked the experience! My friend recommended it to my friend and I. We all have gotten gel manicures done and they were really good, no bubbles at. The prices for mani and pedi are $20 each. Eyebrow waxing is offered for $7 and they have many other services for hair too. The place is clean and really relaxed. I will definitely be returning. read more

Tommy's Salon (also d/b/a Magic Sheers) deserves negative stars! I just literally had to figure out how to go on Yelp and submit a review so I can let everyone know what a horrible job Addison did on my niece's hair because I don't want ANYONE to have the same expierence. Also, Ben and Andy, the owners, laughed about it and talked over me as if they didn't understand me to play it off. She has been at another salon all morning trying to repair the damage, the black streaks in her blonde hair. She showed a picture of what she wanted done, low lights. If they didn't know how to do it, then just say so. I am so disappointed and upset what they did to her hair, and more importantly I'm appalled by their attitude and rudeness. read more

I stopped in here a few weeks ago for an eyebrow job and they did a pretty good job. The salon looked clean and I always pass it when walking back from Target and nearby shopping spots. Today I needed a full set and didn't have time to go to my normal spot in Queen Village. So, on the way back from Old Navy, I popped in and politely asked if they had time for a full set. If not, I was going to get another eyebrow job. The man I was speaking to (don't know if it was the owner or not) said he would check with his techs. Cool, no problem. He came back and asked for a few minutes to find out. Again, cool. However, I also had to pee pretty bad. I asked if, in the meantime, I could use the restroom. This man looked me up and down with hesitation and scorn and said "yeah, you can use it but don't mess it up". Excuse me? I might be a bit thrown together and exhausted from running errands all morning (gotta get those Fitbit steps) but come on. I understand the area might have a transient or homelessness problem but just because a woman is black and carrying a damn shopping bag doesn't mean they're looking to take a bath in your salon, Tom. I politely declined and left. It's a shame, this place is really convenient to me and I was hoping to make it an alternate for my regular sets and refills. Oh well. read more

Horrible service. Constantly rude and judge-mental. I live right near by and try my best not to ever come but I needed a manicure and pedicure for the weekend. I've continued to enjoy this place, and the continue to do a great job for a low-price salon. I decided to swing back for a haircut again since I see so many people there and they always seem to enjoy it. I just don't love it! Shampoo was full of water in my ears, but shampooing someone elses hair in one of those tubs has to be difficult. My hair was cut sopping wet... not even a towel-off. The guy asked what I wanted- a 1 inch trim and longer layers. I liked that he cut a bit and showed it to me to make sure the amount he was cutting was to my liking, but everything just went downhill hard after that. He didn't ask where I parted my hair- he guessed, and the part he combed in wasn't even a straight line. When I pointed it out, the language barrier came into play. In 5 minutes he cut my hair, and layers, then begun to dry my hair. I never saw him check the length of the layers to make sure that they were even, not that it even mattered as my part was a mess. Bottom line- you could tell he was trying to be impressive using 2 blow dryers to dry my hair at once (1 nice one works just as well btw), from dripping wet to try. He quite literally fried my brain a few times when he stopped moving the hair dryers. I had to jump out of the way. When my hair was finally dry, my layers were a mess. They were totally uneven... REALLY uneven... like... a few inches discrepency. He cut it dry to even it out... sorta. By that point, i was cranky. No 'gel' no 'mousse' no 'hairspray'. Just get me outta here!!! Worst $30 i ever spent. I went home feeling really bummed. Now I'm just trying to regrow! read more

I get my nails and hair done here every month. Well the nails go for every 2. This place is perfect. I get the chance to get everything done at one shot. It was never a rush rush, but professional because everyone here is great. Tommy or Kenny does my hair. Phillip usual does my eyelash extension & my nails. Omg did you guys know that have HOT STONE PEDIs for only $30?!?!? They use awesome scrubs that have my whole leg & feet feeling tinglishly fresh. Everyone is very nice on top of that funny, they make you feel welcomed and makes you laugh. The nail work I have to say is excellent! IT's nice and nice, never clumpy or liney like other places I've been to, and you don't have to sit there for hours to wait for the tech to file the layers down. I go here almost every two weeks to get my nails done by DeeDee who is the best! Never have a problem there. So today I decided to go and get my hair cut. After Nina washed my hair she asked if I wanted anyone in particular to cut my hair. I said it didn't matter. Mind you one guy is sitting at the nail station and looked at me, started yawning and goes you want me?? I was in complete shock as to how he was acting because he was tired! This is a place of business and I thought that they would be happy to try and please the customers. Needless to say, I told him if he was too tired I wanted someone else. The next man up asked how much I wanted cut off. I told him an inch and even showed him how much I wanted cut off. Well, when he was done, he cut off maybe two! I was so disgusted and disappointed with the way my hair came out! Then he had the audacity to get an attitude with me when I asked how much I owed! Totally got nasty and started yelling at me in front of my 11yo daughter saying that the prices don't change for customer to customer. All I asked was the price! I had forgotten that fast how much the owner had told me before I even got started!! The manner of professional from the men in there is horrible!! I never have a problem when it comes to my nails! To make matters worse, when I asked for my money back bc I was unhappy, he told me he was going to call the cops!! I was so embarrassed and couldn't get out of there fast enough. And the best part was when they started talking about me in their language. I strongly suggest not to get your hair done by any of their rude, ignorant asses! They do not even put any finishing products in your hair and cop an attitude when you ask for some!! Never again will I waste my money in this establishment. I really wish that DeeDee can do my nails somewhere else so that my money can all go to her. The ladies definitely deserve praise.
